I was reading through the forum, and didnt see a topic for violin making, if anyone wants to post their violin making tips, ideas, designs, or anything related to the making of a violin, this is the place to be.

I'm curious, just how many luthiers do we have in this guild? My guess is... very few if any. If you believe otherwise surprise me. It's not something that's so simple.

I agree, but if people have ideas or designs or want to learn how to get in to violin making, they can ask. im in the process of acuiring the tools and template for the mould to make one.

Impressive. I just wish I knew how to put a sound post back in place. The sound post on one of my other violins fell out last summer and it needs to be put back before it can be sold. My mother doesn't have the time to bring it in to some shop so the violin's just been lying in it's case for a year. By the time it gets fixed it will probably be a piece of crap.
A guy I used to know made a cello once, but it was really heavy and didn't sound very good. It looked really pretty, though.

One of my friends made a violin and a viola... but he never really played on the viola. It was just for practice... other than that I dunno. It seems like very delicate work.

I would like to make a violin or a viola. I love inventing and making things. I saw a book in a catalog one time on how to make a violin. I would have liked to get it.
