Blood. The air reeked of it. The mettalic tang lay in his mouth. It was both sickening and delicious. He was Malakor, first broodlord of his Djinn tribe. He had long preyed upon both the foolish lapdogs of the tyrant Father, and the Father's mislead creations the humans. He'd drank their blood and feasted on their meat, pleasured himself on both their men and women. He'd done so for millenia. No one could defeat him, he was invincible. This was all running through his skull just as it was blown open by a soldier two feet from him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"TAKE THAT YEH SIURSACH!" Vaughn's adrenaline was pumping. He was panting from the exertion of the battle. He couldn't believe that he'd wandered into yet another damn freak-fight. The Daemons had the upper hand, since they'ed been feasting and resting for a while, while the Angels were exhausted. Vaughn thought back to his fight with that Angel. That one had rested, and Vaughn still hurt from that fight sometimes. He spotted how that last horn-head's bunch had started to shuffle away. Clearly scared of this human who could kill their leader.
"THA'S RIGHT LADS! TIME TA' DIE!" Vaughn threw a grenade and grinned with satisfaction when he saw the daemon's bodies go flying. Two survived and began to charge him, throwing fire as they did. Vaughn knelt behind cover and unloaded the remaining twenty rounds into them. High-velocity 7.62 rounds ripped through the daemons bodies, dropping them in mid run. Vaughn walked up to one that was still walking. This one had taken the appearance of an old man with a beak.
"Bad day eh?" He shot the thing in the throat. He lit a ciggarette and puffed thoughtfully.
"Wonder if any o' this lot have summat worthwhile on 'em?" He proceeded to loot the bodies.

Areto heard the sounds of battle echoing through the forest and cautiously followed the invisible path they wove. Staying hidden, she watched as a man battled his way through the hordes of demon soldiers, their bone-chilling screams piercing the clear, blue sky as bullets tore into their tattered bodies. To her suprise, he had soon defeated them. Their oddly formed corpses littered the once empty clearing, and the once sweet breeze carried the stench of death towards her. Bracing herself, she slowly wandered out from her hiding place, her booted feet treading silently as she wove her way through the maze of cadavers that had already been looted.

An angel slowly approached her from behind, pushing her aside as he passed. "Pardon me," he called condescendingly over his shoulder, not even deigning to look at her. The unspoken insult stung, but Areto didn't reply. She knew how angels felt about her kind, and knew that replying would only get her into trouble.

Standing on the other side of the battlefield, Aralia watched from afar as the man she clearly knew as human battled with a rather instinctual attitude. With a sigh, she finished off a demon who was crawling towards her, hunger over-bearing his eyes. A blast of fire from her palm straight to it's face, seemed to do the job.

She was still at a distance from the man, and even from there, she could sense the prescence of another. She scrunched up her nose at the smell of the dead and the stench of burning bodies. As she was stepping over the limbs and sometimes full bodies of those lucky enough not to be torn apart, something grabbed from behind and a large clawed hand appeared in front of her face. "Ah!" She shouted involuntarily as the claw grabbed her head, as if trying to tear it from her shoulders.

With a frustrated shout, a blast of fire suddenly erupted from her and without meaning to, she let it travel the full length of the battlefield. She glanced up a saw that the wall of flames was traveling straight towards the man who had earlier so easily defeated a number of the demons. Without meaning to, she shouted. "Hey! You there! Watch out!" She winced as the fires picked up speed and ash filled the air. This was not good.

"Hnn?" Vaughn looked towards the direction of the shout and saw the flames screeching towards him. Without thinking he sidestepped the wall and watched it hit the stone next to him. Sighing he stamped out the ciggarette. Most of it had been burned up when the flame went past him, barely missing his face. Looking towards the direction of the voice he saw a girl standing in the middle of a large group of daemon corpses. He tutted at her.
"Didn't yer mam teach you not to pick fights girly?" He was annoyed. The only thing of worth on the corpses was some doll that had been taken from a child. Vaughn made a mental note to bury the thing. At least part of the poor thing's spirit had to be lain to rest. He walked towards the girl.
"If I didn't know any better, girly, I'd say that flame wall came from you. And If I didn't know any better, I'd say that only two kinds of gorram freaks are able to do that, and I'm not too freindly with either of them." Vaughn loaded a fresh magazine into his rifle.
"Now. I'm goin' to go out on a limb, and say that yer not a horn-freak, and go with the idea that yer a wing-freak." He took aim at the girls skull, keeping his distance.
"Now you haven't given me any reason to kill you, but you haven't given me any reason to trust you either. So be a good little freak, and get the hell out of here, before I change my mind and shoot you." He was bluffing. Even if she wasn't human, he could never harm a girl. He wasn't THAT much of a d**k.

A young man with long, red hair entered the forest only to smell the sting of rotting corpses all to familar to him, " Demons," he whispered as he slowly made his way through the forest tree and the undergrowth that threatened to intangle the poor traveler. After losing almost everyone dear to him he was rather vulnerable, but he went through ease cutting, with his sword, away at any vines that were too big to pass over. He edged closer and closer the smell of corpses threatening to overwhelm him. He pinched his nose and edged closer and closer into the forest until he reached a clearing where a battle seemed to have been fought. He nearly stepped on one of the demon corpses when he spotted what seemed to be a man with a gun threatening a poor girl. But the girl could be infact a demon herself. Sarkanto walked forward sheathing his sword with ease and without a moments hesitation ran forward and stopped infront of the two.

" What seems to be the problem?" he asked placing his hand on the pouch where he concealed his gun. A rather small gun equipped with rapid fire and able to hold quite a bit of ammuntion. It was custom made and colored red.

Aralia scowled as the man strolled towards her threateningly. She was rather tempermental, and this was not the time for some egotistical human - or, whatever - to be threatening her. At the moment, she was slightly dissapointed that he had been able to avoid the wall of fire that had gone streaming all over the place.

Placing her hands on her hips, one hand barely fingering the hilt of her blade, she scoffed. "My mam' never saw fit to teach me any manners, and quite frankly, it wasn't as if she had much time. Now, only a fool would go jumping to conclusions like that," she remarked concerning his belief that she was an angel. "I take it highly offensive that you would lump me in with either of those beings. And I don't give a damn who you're friendly with, but your ego is really startin' to tick me off."

As he pulled his gun out, she shook her head and laughed lightly. "Call me a freak one more time, buddy, and I'll show you just how much this little girly can kick your butt, even if she's not an angel about it." She stepped forwards, and just as she did, another individual came in from the neighboring woods. As he approached, Aralia kept her eyes on the man and the gun in front of her. "This doesn't concern you at the moment," she stated matter of factly as she strolled forwards. Pushing past him, she approached the other man until his gun was pressed against her shoulder blade.

"Now," she said, annoyance lining the edge in her voice. "Did you ever think that maybe the demon that was trying to tear my head off may have attacked you? No normal human can possible send out a wall of flames. Use your common sense." At the moment, she was trying to hide her identity. And only playing the obvious would help her, hopefully. And this man seemed not to know of her kind's existence, which suited her just fine.

Areto watched with interest as the small group gather in the middle of the battlefield. Approaching carefully, she tried to figure out exactly what was going on. As far as she could tell, the man who had been fighting earlier was suspicious, and the girl was being defensive. By the time Areto had finally woven her way to the pair, another had man had joined them.

As soon as she came close enough, she recognized the other girl to be a Nephilim also, but said nothing. Her hand hovering near the hilt of her sword, she asked frankly, "Pardon me, but what is going on?"

Vaughn tilted his head in mocking examination of the girl.
"Don't bugger me about girly. Those are freak's eyes if ever I saw 'em. No living thing has eyes that cold. And if I'm coming off egotistical to you..." he stuck his tounge out childishly and put his gun down.
"I never could harm a girl anyway lass. Your kind may have no morals, but mine does." He looked at the man, and saw that he had the eyes as well.
"And you. You stay out of my wayas well freak. I don't need angels pissing about." He turned when he heard a small timid voice. It was another girl. She also had strange eyes, but they weren't cold, nor distant. Odd. Vaughn took aim, and fired at the angel about to slash her.
"BELIAL YOU SIURSACH!," Vaughn stepped between the small group of freaks who up until now hadn't tried to kill him (with one exception), deciding they must be civillians, "I told you. IF YOU WANT ME, STEP AROUND PEOPLE! DON'T KILL 'EM!" The angel looked up at him, with the usual condescending look, but it was also wary. News had gotten out about this Vaughn human. The sheer number of Daemons he'd killed, and that one Angel.
"People, Vaughn? Last I checked, Nephilim weren't people. They weren't even animals. Just half-blooded filth!" Vaughn looked puzzled. Angels normally praised each other.Helped to nurture their ego.
"I'm going to guess these guys aren't on yer side, which means I'm beginnin' ta like them." Vaughn shot the angel through a wing. The things shrieks almost made him wince.
"Get out of here. An' take yer friends with yer." Belial glared at Vaughn, but then seemed to melt away. A peace descended over the battlefiled. Vaughn sighed, and looked to the others.
"Sorry. Too used to having to deal with just Wing-freaks and Horn-freaks." He turned away and started to dig a shallow grave for the doll. Saying the last rights as he did.

Aralia had stepped forward, the minute she saw the angel. And a cold fury had begun to take over her. As the man - Vaughn apparently - shot at the blasted thing, she stood still. It seemed as if her attempt at hiding herself did nothing for her. She sighed and a weariness came over her. Why, of all things, did she always have to get involved in these things.

As she glanced over at the man, a softness came over her. Seeing the last patch of dirt cover the doll, she recalled old, almost long forgotten memories. She opened her mouth to say something, and quickly shut it. Sentimental values she saved for herself on her own time. Glancing over at the others, she waved airily.

"So, now that we've all seemed to establish the fact that we're not full-blooded freaks . . . just half-freaks, should we begin some introductions, or would you all prefer to go our seperate ways?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 17, 2007 2:52 pm

Vaughn snapped out of his reverie. He looked up at the girl, angel, thing and grinned.
"Introductions girly? Well, you already know all I'd tell you, and you'd jus' get that info. from lookin' at me. Name's Vaughn, like the winged ponce said, an' I'm a grumpy young man with a severe dislike of these freaks who think it's fine ta kill indiscriminately. I'm also summat as an arsehole as yer've experienced girly. An' I can also tell that yer fingerin' that gun yer've gotten hidden lad. No point pretendin', I'm ex-british army, an' yer an amateur at concealin' that gun." He looked at all three of them in turn.
"Now before you introduce, yersels, yer might want ta explain what ol' Belial meant by "half-breeds"." He sat down on corpse nd lit a new ciggarette. Waiting for the reply.

Areto watched silently as the angel approached. When the man shot him, a satisfied smile tried to spread across her face. She hid it except for a small corner that tugged her mouth into a slightly lopsided grin. The grin faded as she stared at the buried doll, and a faint memory of her mother's face wavered in her mind. Her mother had died five years ago, but it still hurt.

When the other girl spoke, she shook off the pain and refocused, but the sorrow remained. Deciding to introduce herself she stepped forward. "I'm Areto," she stated simply, making eye contact with all three of the strangers. Her left hand rested comfortably on the hilt of her sword, her thumb tracing the simple etching as she spoke.

"The Nephilim are the...ah, result of the union between a human and an angel. We have some magic, usually in controlling the elements, and often inherit longevity," she explained. "Angels look down on us, since we have human blood," she added, bitterness and anger creeping into her voice.

As the woman pushed Sarkanto to the side he merely stepped back it seemed that he'd gotten into a quarrel between the two strangers.
He shrugged takng his hand away from the pouch where he concealed his gun. Trying his best he concerted on the two of them and anazled them carefully. He remained this way until the man named Vaughn shot at the angel. This made him very tense and he almot went to grab his gun before the angel had disappered. He then stared at the doll as nostlagia swept past him at the thoughts of his mother and father, but he was soon relieved from it as Vaughn has spotted his gun. He merely grinned and stopped what he said was 'pretending'.
After Areto introduced herself he stepped forward.

" I'm Sarkanto a traveling swordsman. I'm looking for a certain group of people with a friend of mine. This groupd assaniated my whole tribe, except for me of course, but it seems I was separated from my friend.
I went into this forest to find him," he explained placing his hand on his hip and looking at each of the three in turn and then resting his eyes on the doll once more.

Now that everyone had properly introduced themselves, Aralia stood where she was and placed one hand on her hip. Placing her weight on one leg, she sighed. "The name's Aralia." After listening to Areto's explanation of Nephilim and seeing her rather reckless grin from earlier, Aralia placed her free hand on her temples before looking up at Vaughn.

"I'm sorry if I seemed forwards earlier, and yes, you can be rather much of an a**, I've noticed. Kinda' hard not to. Anyways . . . Areto pretty much has it right. Nephilim are half-breeds. Usually between Angels and Humans. Sometimes angels tend to forget that their kind loses their . . . well, control. And half the time it's their fault that Nephilim exist in the first place. But we're considered dirty. Half-breeds. Mutts. Worthless filth. You get the idea. Like Areto said, our angel blood tends to give us sometimes . . . well, sometimes unwanted abilities. Like control over the elements and a rather long, lengthy lifespan."

She shook her head and stood up straight. "To try to put your mind at ease, even though the angels look down at us, we don't go flocking to any demons. They, for the most part, dispise us as well." As she was giving this lengthy explanation, Aralia refused to mention her lineage. It was enough trouble as it was, without anybody else knowing about it. Holding her hand out, she tried her best to put on a warm face. "It's nice to meet you Vaughn," she glanced around at everyone else," and you guys as well."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 18, 2007 1:13 am

Vaughn looked at the Aralia girl for a little longer. He then took her hand and shaked it.
"Y'know, yer eyes look strangely familiar. D'you, what was it, Nifelum?, inherit features from yer fathers sometimes?" Vaughn had definitely seen those eyes before, but he wasn't sure where. It was definitely from an angel, a hardcase one at that, but he still wasn't sure. He put it at the back of his mind, and turned to Sarkanto.
"Was yer friend dressed like yerself, with a large sword an' some weird lookin' rifle?"

Areto paid close attention when everyone introduced themselves. When Sarkanto mentioned searching for his friend in the forest, she perked up a little. "Well, if you need help looking for your friend, I think I could help," she offered. Her hands gestured gracefully towards the forest as she explained, "I'm an earth elemental, and I've traveled in these forests for years." Areto didn't mention that she used to live a few miles away, or her original purpose for coming here.
