Okay.. So I'm writing a story and I need some help. This father in the story I'm writing abuses his son like no other. Later on the Father's son dies (not because of him). I wanted the father to feel guilty.. but would that be realistic at all? Should there be a certain reason to why he feels guilty?

You could make him guilt because the child (son) knew nothing but of the hell of which he had to live in and even though the father beat him he was the only child he had and in a way he did love the boy and finally realized what he had done.
Just a suggestion basing I don't know much of the plot of the story.
I've seen these kind of situations

Well, I'm not the type of person who beats on someone. Like the men who abuse their wives but say they love them. I can't explain the reasons why they do what they do. I'd suppose it's a way to release their feelings and failures >>
A parent can feel guilty for what they've done to their child and realise how wrong they were.
