Rogue sat quietly on the edge of one of the tables at the Velveteen Toychest, and worked on a drawing he'd been trying to complete for a while. He'd been exceedingly bored as of late, and so was trying to occupy himself by doing what he did best - Thinking. His mind was wandering so much so, that he actually lost track of what was going on around him. If anyone walked in, he was still deep in thought, and deep at work on the drawing.

Carl wasn't much paying attention either. The day was unmercifully hot, beating down upon the boy as his previos task master had not but a while ago. That was over though, thank gods it was over...his life had resumed its usual pace, and as he hadn't in over a week - he was confident about strolling into the shop. The tiny bell chimed as he pushed the door inwards with ease and stepped inside, almost unrecognizable in his attire.
It wasn't a fancy afair but he seemed to have turned a 180 with his style and surrendered to the summer. Rather than a hoodie, a hooded tanktop clung tightly to his toned body, the same navy blue with a star insigna sporting off of his side as always had it been. Around his neck hung a necklace his mother had given him, a sybol of primal strength to guide his body and mind towards a single frame of wellbeing, albeit it had failed to serve him in his last skirmish....but that again, he'd forgotten to wear it that day, so it wasn't at all the necklace's fault. The black jetsone beads catching the light, but also served to match the black shorts that had replaced his longer garments. If only he'd had sunglasses, he'd truly look prepared for the scorcher.
It no longer served a problem though, did it? No, the bird smiled as he wandered into the air conditioned shop, noting the quiet of it's hallowed chamber, although being careful to observe it for signs of life. And wouldn't you know it, there one was! he raised a claw in greeting. "Oy! Rogue!"

Rogue started, looked up, and turned around, smiling. Carl! It had been entirely too long since he'd seen the bird. He was happy to see him, needless to say. He set down his sketchpad, and walked over, offering one paw in greeting as was beginning to be his custom. That wasn't to say he didn't feel like just hugging the heck out of the eagle. But he wasn't about to make a fool of himself. There was no way of telling whether or not Carl actually felt the same way in terms of friendship. At least, no way of telling anymore.

"It's wonderful to see you, Carl! Where have you been? Ahh, but I suppose that question is better directed towards me?"

He laughed, and shook his head fondly. On the table, Eek had slid out of hiding, and was looking over the drawing - which was of him - and smiling. Rogue had become his mentor, as well as a very good friend. And his doctor. All of those things he was grateful to the squirrel for. So he usually stuck around closeby. Rogue glanced back, saw Eek there, and nodded. He had no problem with the mouse being there. Back to Carl, though.

"I'm tempted to quote Hamlet. My Hamlet to your Horatio. 'Horatio! Or I do forget myself' " he laughed quietly. "But though you may be a friend, you are certainly no Horatio."

Carl took the paw and held it tight for a moment before releasing the squirrel. A smile graced his features as his sapphire optics roved over the limber form of one he'd long since given up for seeing. But a moment was taken for assesment before a conclusion was reached. Carl was pleased. The expression that lingered upon his isage widened as he ran his claws through his feathers, adopting a dramatic sense of self for his reply to the quote.

"No Horatio am I, but certainly a friend - and hopefully welcome fellow to your company. Ah, but would you let me?"
