Cloud Strife
User Image
Class/Job:Soldier/Mercenary
Weapon:Broadsword
Home:Nibelheim
Age:21(ff VII) 23 (AC) 24(DoC)
Blood type:AB

He's a new member of AVALANCHE in the beginning. A self-proclaimed ex-SOLDIER-turned mercenary employed by AVALANCHE. Cloud is a confused and conflicted individual with an occasionally arrogant attitude and a cool disposition. That is, until a potentially traumatic experience helped him to discover his true self, and become more mentally relaxed. He wears a blue SOLDIER uniform and is distinguished by his glowing blue eyes, which are a sign of having been exposed to a large amount of mako. He also sports spiked blond hair. He wields a giant Buster Sword in combat. Beginning as a cold-hearted mercenary who refuses to aid AVALANCHE for any reason except money, Cloud eventually comes to take up the cause of the planet whole-heartedly, largely as a result of Sephiroth's influence. Before the events of Final Fantasy VII he was a private in the Shinra Army and best friends with Zack, a First Class Member of SOLDIER.

Barret Wallace
User Image
Class/Job:Leader of AVALANCHE
Weapon:Gun-arm
Home:Corel village
Age:35 (FFVII)37 (AC) 38 (DoC)
Blood type:O

The original leader of AVALANCHE, Barret is a man with a powerful build and a deep-seated hatred of everything made by Shinra. Barret mistrusts Cloud at first because of the mercenary's past affiliation with the corporation, but eventually comes to respect and trust him. He lost his right gun prosthetic in order to take revenge. He is also very fond and sympathetic of nature and the planet, and it is because he believes Shinra is killing the planet that he brings AVALANCHE together. His drive to save the planet is only surpassed by the love for his adopted daughter Marlene.

Aeris Gainsborough
User Image
Class/Job:White Mage/Flower Girl
Weapon:Staff
Home:Icicle Lodge (also called Icicle Inn)
Age:22 (ffVII)

A young woman who sells flowers on the streets of Midgar and is sought after by Shinra's research department. She asks Cloud to be her bodyguard after a run-in with the Turks, and subsequently joins AVALANCHE, while develops strong feelings for Cloud and vice versa. Aerith has long brown hair she keeps in a braid with pink bows and vivid green eyes, and wears a red mini-jacket with a pink dress. Aeris is the last Cetra and can communicate with the Planet itself. However, she was eventually killed by Sephiroth. Even after her death, she helped save the planet by summoning the Lifestream to destroy Meteor with the help of other souls.

Red XIII/Nanaki
User Image
Class/Job:Beast
Weapon:Headdress
Home:Cosmo Canyon
Age:48( FFVII) 50 (AC) 51 (DoC)

Strong, fierce, and coated with fire-red fur, Red XIII is a large and powerful creature with a strong intellect and warm heart to match. His species is possessed of great longevity, which surprises the party when they learn that his 48 years only amounts to adolescence by his species' standards. Though his real name is Nanaki, he is given the name Red XIII by Hojo, and the name sticks when the party rescues him from Hojo's laboratory. Red XIII believed his father, Seto, was a coward who had fled in the face of battle until he discovered Seto's petrified body at the Cave of the Gi. Red XIII then learned that Seto sacrificed himself to protect Cosmo Canyon.

Cid Highwind
User Image
Class/Job razz ilot / Dragon Knight
Weapon:Spears
Age:32 (FFVII) 34 (AC) 35 (DoC)
Blood type:B

A rather grouchy and foul-mouthed (but nonetheless warm-hearted) character, Cid is a pilot who dreams of travelling into space. He lives with Shera, an assistant who forced Cid to abort his past chance of launching his rocket into space, saving Cid's life by checking oxygen tanks she correctly feared were faulty during the lift-off sequence. Cid designed the airship Highwind and also owns the Tiny Bronco, a small plane which Cloud and the others use as a boat in the game after it is downed by Shinra.

Yuffie Kisaragi
User Image
Class/Job:Materia Hunter/Ninja

Home:Wutai
Age:16 (ffVII) 18 (AC) 19 (DoC)
Blood type:A

The spunky young ninja of Wutai and Godo's daughter. A self-proclaimed "Materia Hunter", Yuffie is in fact a pickpocket and thief who joins the party hoping to steal their Materia, with the intention of restoring her country, Wutai, to its former glory. Although Yuffie is a skillful ninja, she has her weaknesses: namely, she is prone to sea and air sickness and shows signs of kleptomania. She has short black hair and brown eyes.

Cait Sith
User Image
Weapon:Megaphone
Race:Robot

Appearing as a stuffed, talking cat, Cait Sith is friendly, but often unreliable. He rides on the back of a stuffed moogle, which does all of the pair's fighting. Cait Sith is eventually revealed to be an animatronic robot that Reeve Tuesti, Shinra's Head of Urban Development, used to infiltrate AVALANCHE. However, over time, Reeve came to care for his new friends and their cause, and used Cait Sith as a way for him to help them, for instance by providing AVALANCHE with secret Shinra information. Cait Sith sacrifices himself at one point in the game to aid the group, but a second Cait Sith immediately shows up to replace him. "Cait Sith" is gaelic for "fairy cat", alluded to by the (often derided) Scottish dialect of Cait Sith in Advent Children.

Vincent Valentine
User Image
Class/Job:Ex-Turk
Weapon: Handgun
Home:Unknown
Age razz hysically 27 (He has ceased aging)Biologically 57 (FFVII) 59 (AC) 60(DOC)
Blood type:A

A dark, brooding, and sardonic man whose heart has been numbed by a tragic love. Vincent is a former Turks gunman who was experimented on by Hojo approximately thirty years final fantasy VII, and consequently developed superhuman abilities and characteristics. Cloud and the others eventually discover him sleeping inside a coffin in the basement of the Shinra Mansion, where he joins them in their quest.

Sephiroth
User Image
Sephiroth is known to be the most powerful member of SOLDIER ever, and rose to a prominent rank at an early age. After a traumatic incident in which he learned of what he assumed to be his true origins, he left SOLDIER and indeed civilization altogether with plans to become a god-like power by wounding the Planet with Meteor and absorbing the entirety of the Lifestream sent to heal the damage. He manipulates Cloud (and the party, by extension) , as well as killing Aeris.

Sephiroth is destroyed by Cloud , however, he returns for a short time in Advent Children where he takes over the body of Kadaj only to be defeated by Cloud again. However he warns Cloud that he will "Never be a memory" indicating that he will return once more to challenge Cloud.

President Shinra
User Image
is the first President of the Shinra Company. He built it from a simple weapons development company to a corporation that controlled the world in a single generation. He was a remarkably capable manager who excelled at the science of predicting human nature and guiding public opinion. It was his theory that one could control the world by grasping the masses' hearts with money. He found the opinions of his son, Rufus, dangerous and ensured that they were kept away from company affairs by assigning him duties in "far away" lands.

The President dedicated a large amount of Shinra Inc's resources and money into research of the Cetra with the hope of finding "The Promised Land" and building a powerful Mako Reactor there. However, when Shinra Inc finally managed to capture a living Cetra, President Shinra was murdered by Sephiroth.

Rufus Shinra
User Image
His appearance is marked by neatly-groomed blonde hair, blue eyes and a white three-piece suit with a distinctive double-breasted jacket. In Final Fantasy VII, Rufus is depicted as callous, cold-hearted and ruthless. His views on how Shinra should conduct its rule over the world — through fear and intimidation rather than money — were considered dangerous by his father, and great care was taken to prevent them from influencing the company's inner workings. But by Advent Children it seems Rufus has reformed and is dedicated to helping the regeneration of the planet. He appears to enjoy subterfuge as much as he finds it useful, with his concealment of Jenova's head and use of deception in an attempt to overthrow his father.

At the beginning of Final Fantasy VII he is the Vice-President of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a monopoly corporation and "de facto" world government. After his father's death, he becomes the president of the company. He begins running his company through fear and intimidation whilst very sure that Shinra is capable of solving the various crisis facing Gaia. However, later he has a change of heart so he and Cloud's group put their differences aside to fight their common foes, Meteor and Sephiroth. Rufus' actions led to many positive things towards the end, actions that benefited the world, such as removing Sephiroth's energy barrier and destroying two Weapons. However, Rufus is thought to have died when his office in Shinra Headquarters was hit by an energy blast from Diamond WEAPON.

Rufus returns with the intention of repairing the damage his company had caused to the world, despite being in a wheelchair due to the disease Geostigma (although it was revealed that the wheelchair was just a facade, as he was easily capable of standing to toss Jenova's neck off the side of a building, then leaping off as Kadaj dived after it). He plays a significant role in the story, having come into possession of Jenova's remains. In his intent to repay the planet, Rufus is hinted as being the main, but anonymous, funder for the World Regenesis Organization.

Rufus also makes sporadic appearances in Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII were Rufus is seen supplying funding and information to AVALANCHE as an "anonymous benefactor," while suggesting to the Turks that there may be a leak in the company. He intended to use AVALANCHE to kill his father so that he could become President of the Shinra Company. The plan failed, though Rufus continued scheming.

Professor Hojo
User Image
Shinra's mad scientist with a God complex, Hojo undertook radical experiments without any regard for ethics or the potential consequences of his research on his test subjects. Hojo regards the subjects of his experiments as mere "specimens," though most are human or otherwise sentient. He was Sephiroth's father. Hojo's insanity and experiments are the reason for the meteor crisis in FF7, and thus he could be considered a major villain.
Hojo's notoriety begins approximately thirty years prior to the start of the game in Nibelheim, where he was sent by Shinra to assist Professor Gast and Lucrecia with the Jenova Project, a project headed up by Gast and intended to produce modern day humans with the abilities of the Cetra, which Jenova - in actuality, a world-devouring alien entity - was mistakenly believed to be a member of. It was believed that this goal may be realized by testing the effects of Jenova cells on an unborn child. Thus, the three Shinra scientists — with Lucrecia and Hojo's complete cooperation — injected some of Jenova's cells into the womb of Lucrecia, who was pregnant with Hojo's child at the time. The child that would come of this experiment was Sephiroth. But prior to Sephiroth's birth, Hojo killed Vincent and used his body for experiments until Lucrecia brought Vincent back to life with the G Substance. Hojo later managed to take Dr. Hollander's position as head of Shinra's Science Department during the events of Crisis Core, using its resources to set up his Jenova Reunion theory. Once Meteor began to descend toward the planet, Hojo grew bored of experimenting on others and injected himself with Jenova cells to prepare himself for Omega WEAPON as a super-being. However, Hojo succumbed to Jenova and mutated into a monster as he willingly attempted to give Sephiroth the power of the Planet so that he could witness his most esteemed experiment reach its ultimate stage of development. While attempting to carry out this process, he was mortally wounded by AVALANCHE and was left for dead.

However, as revealed in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, Hojo managed to barely return into his body for a brief moment to upload his mind into the World Network as a backup before it was destroyed during Meteorfall. However, due to Meteor, his conscious mind was fragmented. It would be three years before Hojo's mind was able to have its "reunion" upon the World Network's restoration. Deciding to finish what he started, Hojo took over the body of the 'in-stasis' Deep Ground SOLDIER commander Weiss. However, upon Weiss' defeat, Nero appeared and merged into Weiss's body, "defiling" Hojo's host and forcing Hojo to leave Weiss' body as all traces of himself were eliminated.

Heidegger
User Image
Head of Shinra's Public Safety Maintenance Department, which is simply a euphemism for Shinra's military, the elite SOLDIER unit and the Turks. He died when the Proud Clod (a mecha he and Scarlet were riding in) exploded after a battle with AVALANCHE. Nicknamed as "Gya ha ha" by Reeve, for his horse-like laugh. He often punches any unlucky soldier nearby whenever he is angered.

Scarlet
User Image
Head of Shinra's Weapons Development Department. Aspires to make the perfect weapon, but doesn't trust Heidegger to use it properly. The Shinra executive responsible for the destruction of Barret Wallace's home town of Corel and for the loss of Barret's forearm. Helps in creating a large mako cannon, Sister Ray, used to fight WEAPON. Like Rufus, she is both cunning and ruthless. Nicknamed as "Kya ha ha" for her peculiar laugh by Reeve. She died along with Heidegger in the explosion of the Proud Clod.

Palmer
User Image
The incompetent head of Shinra's failed Space Exploration Department, Palmer is a bouncy, overweight man with some childlike behavior. He goes with Rufus to Rocket Town to steal Cid's plane, the Tiny Bronco. Although he is hit by a truck as he tries to escape Cloud and company, he — along with Reeve and Rufus — is one of the few Shinra executives to survive the events of Final Fantasy VII. However, he has yet to make any further appearances in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.

Reeve Tuesti
User Image
Head of the Urban Development Department, he used Cait Sith as a way for him to spy on — and later aid — AVALANCHE. Along with Mayor Domino, he is one of the few officials in Shinra who has a genuine concern for the common people. He is briefly arrested by Heidegger's men after the apparent death of Rufus. Reeve later founded the World Regenesis Organization (WRO), an organization devoted to the environmental reclamation of the planet after the collapse of the Shinra Company.

Tseng
User Image
The stern but polite and calm leader of the Turks. He has known Aeris since she was a child and shows affection towards her. He was grievously wounded after a confrontation with Sephiroth in the Temple of the Ancients. He returns in the beginning of Advent Children with the other Turks, and is captured and tortured along with Elena.

Rude
User Image
A member of the Turks, he is a tall, naturally baldman with a goatee, many piercings in his ears, light brown eyes, who is never seen without his sunglasses, for the most part (it is revealed in Advent Children that he had numerous pairs, as Reno stepped on his glasses, and in the next scene, Rude is seen putting on another pair). He is labeled as a 'sniper' and 'assassin' for the Turks, but usually uses his hand-to-hand powers. He usually appears with his friend and longtime partner Reno. Rude is somewhat taciturn and usually lets Reno do the talking. He prefers to fight with his fists (using a sort of grappling/boxing style as opposed to Tifa's Eastern style martial arts) and has a crush on Tifa, though nothing ever develops of it. His abilities are also far beyond that of a normal person, much like Reno. In Advent Children, he was able to endure being hit on the head by a billboard and suffering only a temporary stun.

Reno
User Image
A member of the Turks, he is a lanky man with unkempt bright red hair and a ponytail. He has bright light blue eyes enhanced by mako, and always wears goggles on his forehead. He is quite laid-back and doesn't take his job very seriously, but he is nonetheless very good at what he does and takes pride in it. He wields an electromagnetic rod (EMR). He has been Rude's partner, on and off, for six years as of Final Fantasy VII.He is strong in his own right (being able to jump, fight, and take damage far beyond that of a normal human), but his strength in battle lies in his agility and dexterity.

Elena
User Image
The newest member of the Turks, she is a young woman with short blonde hair, enlisted to make up for Reno's leave of absence when he sustains injuries in a fight with AVALANCHE. She takes her job very seriously, but is the most naive and incompetent member of the group. She has a crush on Tseng and temporarily blames Cloud for his injuries received at the hands of Sephiroth. She is one of the Turks sent to the Northern Crater to find any vestiges of Sephiroth or Jenova in the beginning of Advent Children and is captured and tortured by Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo.

Elmyra Gainsborough
User Image
Aeris's adoptive mother, discovers Aeris and the dying Ifalna after their escape from Shinra headquarters. Ifalna asks Elmyra to care for her daughter before dying, and Elmyra adopts Aeris as her own, raising her and becoming aware of the young girl's developing Cetra abilities. Elmyra later takes care of Marlene while Barret is pursuing Sephiroth, but both are subsequently taken into custody by Reeve Tuesti and relocated to Kalm. Reeve, however, ensures their safety and they are later released. He later has the sad duty of informing them of Aeris's death at the hands of Sephiroth.

Marlene Wallace
User Image
Marlene is the young daughter of Barret's friends, Dyne and Eleanor. Adopted by Barret after Eleanor's death during the burning of Corel and left with Elmyra , she is kidnapped by Reeve. At the end, she has been sent to Kalm by Reeve to keep her safe. In Advent Children, she appears to live with Cloud, Tifa and an orphan named Denzel, while Barret is away searching for new power sources. Her hair in Advent Children is styled similarly to Aeris's.

Biggs
User Image
Although slightly cocky and arrogant at first, he ends up respecting Cloud. Biggs is killed along with other members of AVALANCHE, when Shinra dropped the Sector 7 plate.

Wedge
User Image
is a member of AVALANCHE in the game. Close friends with Biggs, Wedge is very warm-hearted and kind to others, but he easily loses his composure when nervous.. Killed by Shinra after falling off the Sector 7 tower.

Jesse
User Image
is a member of AVALANCHE. She is an explosives technician that fakes IDs for herself and fellow members so they could pass through Shinra's security checkpoints without being detected. She has a fascination with gadgetry, explosives and other "flashy stuff", and gives Cloud a lesson on the Midgar rail system and the structure of the city itself. She is eventually killed by Shinra in the bombing of Sector 7.

Shera Highwind
User Image
is a soft-spoken and calm methodical scientist working on the Shinra No. 26 who ultimately caused Cid to cancel its launch: she feared one of the oxygen tanks was malfunctioning and refused to leave when Cid ordered her to. To save her life, Cid stopped the launch, but resented her for this, believing that she had cost him his dream of being the first man in space. However, he later came to have great respect for her after finding out that she had been right all along about the oxygen tank. Shera also saved his life on the later successful rocket launch by helping to remove debris trapping Cid on the rocket, as well as by repairing the emergency escape pod so that the party could escape the doomed rocket. In the novella On the Way to a Smile, Shera had began work drilling oil in some badlands just east of Rocket Town, hoping to use oil as an alternative to the now-feared Mako energy and the almost primitive coal power. It is also revealed that she has contracted Geostigma during this time, although mention of her in future titles seems to indicate that she was cured of Geostigma by the lifestream infused water called forth by Aeris before she could die. Cid named the airship seen in Advent Children after her and is revealed in Dirge of Cerberus to have also married her.

Ifalna

is Aeris's birth mother and the last full-blooded Cetra. Found by Professor Gast in Icicle Lodge, they recorded a series of interviews together. The two fell in love, resulting in the birth of Aeris. Twenty days after Aeris's birth, Hojo had Gast shot and Aeris and Ifalna apprehended, and then taken to the Shinra headquarters in Midgar. Ifalna escaped seven years later with Aeris, and they managed to get as far as the Sector 7 train station in Midgar. Exhausted and wounded, Ifalna entrusted Aeris's care to Elmyra Gainsborough and died.

Professor Faremis Gast

The former head of Shinra's Science Research Department and Aeris's father. Gast seems to be a noble man who pursues knowledge for its own sake, rather than for the power it can bring. Gast finds Jenova during an excavation in the Northern Crater. After Jenova is transported to Nibelheim for further study of her origin and nature, Gast comes to the incorrect conclusion that the creature is a Cetra, and Shinra sends Hojo and Lucrecia to assist him. Believing that they may be able to produce a modern-day Cetra, the scientists inject Jenova cells into the womb of the pregnant Lucrecia, who was carrying Hojo's child. At some undisclosed point in time, Gast leaves the project with a guilty conscience, although he doesn't officially leave Shinra. Gast continues his research on the Ancients alone and meets Ifalna — one of the last surviving members of the Ancients' race — at Icicle Lodge. There, Gast carries out a series of interviews with Ifalna, and in time, they fall in love and have a child together: Aeris. However, shortly after Aeris's birth (twenty days, to be exact), Hojo killed Gast during the attempt to capture both Ifalna and Aeris for further study.

Jenova

Once incorrectly believed to be an Ancient, the remains of Jenova were found by Professor Gast and became the subject of extensive research and experimentation by Shinra. The creature is, in actuality, an extraterrestrial life form that crashlanded on the Planet some 2,000 years before the events of Final Fantasy VII. The creature is an instinctual being that seeks to destroy. The few Cetra that survived succeeded in sealing Jenova deep within the Northern Crater, where it would be discovered two thousand years later.

Lucrecia Crescent
User Image
Lucrecia is a female scientist who worked on the Jenova Project, alongside Professor Hojo and Professor Gast. She was Vincent’s love interest and was mother of Hojo's child, Sephiroth.

Lucrecia is estimated to have been born around 60 years before the events of the game. She worked as a Class A biotechnologist for the Shinra Electric Power Company under the direction of Grimoire Valentine, Vincent Valentine's father. Her thesis on Omega and Chaos had suffered much criticism and she was anxious to prove her colleagues wrong. During one of her investigations she happened upon the suspected location of the dormant Omega.

During the events before Final Fantasy VII Lucrecia was assigned as an assistant to Professor Faremis Gast alongside Professor Hojo in the town of Nibelheim. They were to investigate the excavated specimen (later known as Jenova) from the Northern Crater which was suspected to be an Ancient (Cetra). Upon analysis they falsely believed it to be a Cetra and attempted to extract its cellular DNA in order to artificially produce soldiers with the Cetra's abilities. She used her unborn child as the subject of the Jenova Project's first in vivo experiment despite objections from Vincent Valentine. During pregnancy, Lucrecia began receiving visions of the horrors her unborn son would commit, and in an untimely encounter, discovered Vincent shot by Hojo. Fearing for his life, Lucrecia exposed him to the stagnated mako which had been named "G Substance," causing the being known as Chaos to be absorbed into his body. Though his life was saved, he was left in a feral madness. Disgusted with all that she had done to those she cared about and the changes Jenova's cells had wrought in her own body, she attempted to kill herself. However, she was unable to easily die because of the presence of Jenova's cells in her body, and, thus, she isolated herself in a cave and trapping herself within mako crystals located in a remote location. During the events of Final Fantasy VII she is discovered by Vincent and the others, and she asks if Sephiroth had died yet. Vincent hoping to help her rest in peace falsely tells her that he had died.

Zack Fair
User Image
Zack was born in the town of Gongaga, where he lived until he left to join Shinra's militant force SOLDIER. Years later, he went to Nibelheim to investigate the nearby Mako reactor which had been malfunctioning. However, during the investigation Sephiroth discovered the truth behind his origins and went on a rampage destroying the Nibelheim village. Zack eventually confronted Sephiroth in a duel only to be defeated easily. Following the battle both he and Cloud were used by Hojo as test specimens. However Zack managed to escape after four years and carried the incapacitated Cloud with him to freedom. While on the run Zack is shot to death by Shinra soldiers, while Cloud is left for dead just outside Midgar. Throughout most of the game, Cloud adopts Zack’s memories and character traits as his own.

Zack met Aeris five years before ffvii, and was her first crush. It's possible that they may have been dating for as much as two years, however, the specifics of their relationship are still unknown.

Zack re-appears in Advent Children mostly in flashbacks but later as a part of the lifestream alongside Aeris.

Bugenhagen

Red XIII/Nanaki's adoptive grandfather, is an eccentric old man who moves about, floating on a green ball. Formerly a Shinra worker, he retired to his home of Cosmo Canyon — where he is the elder of the Bugah Tribe — to pursue the Study of Planet Life, and where he finds a peaceful harmony between technology and nature. He has an observatory at the top of Cosmo Canyon, and provides vital information to AVALANCHE regarding how to stop Sephiroth and Meteor.

Don Corneo
User Image
is a perverted crime-boss of lower Midgar who resides in Wall Market. After being confronted by Cloud, Tifa and Aerith — who all threaten to neuter him — he reveals Shinra's plan to destroy Sector 7's support pillar. He then becomes a target of Shinra for having released this information. Later, after hiding out from the Turks who were ordered to kill him, Corneo kidnaps Yuffie and Elena in Wutai with the intentions of forcing one of them to be his bride. After a brief alliance between AVALANCHE and the Turks, he is killed by a long fall off a mountain. The Don had two "pets", Aps and Rapps, both of which he set against AVALANCHE

Johnny

A young man from Sector 7 who has had a crush on Tifa since their childhoods in Nibelheim. He leaves Midgar and moves to Costa del Sol. In the short story "The Case of Denzel", a part of the novella On the Way to a Smile, Johnny decides to open his own cafe in Edge City, Johnny's Heaven, after being inspired by Tifa's decision to build a new Seventh Heaven pub in the city. He would often tell his customers about how Tifa inspired him and would unknowingly lose most of his potentially regular customers to Seventh Heaven by doing so.

Pricilla

A young girl living in Junon that Cloud rescues by performing CPR. Helps the party by gifting Cloud the Shiva materia and helping him get into the upper levels of Junon with her trusty friend, Mr. Dolphin. By the time Cloud visits Junon for the second time, Priscilla has decided she wants to marry him - as soon as she gets older.

Zangan

is Tifa's martial arts instructor, and rescued her after she was wounded by Sephiroth. In Final Fantasy VII, his letter to Tifa (found in her piano) shed light on the events following the burning of Nibelheim and the coverup that ensued. Zangan was quite active and possessed some ability with magic, using Cure spells on Tifa as he transported her to Midgar.

Dio

Manager of the Gold Saucer. When he hears that reports of a man with a gun for an arm has murdered several Shinra soldiers in the Gold Saucer, he arrests Barret's group and places them in Corel Prison, but releases them after learning that Dyne was at fault instead. Later, he lends the Keystone to them that will open the Temple of the Ancients. His favorite attraction in the Gold Saucer is the Battle Arena, where he makes Cloud fight for the Keystone.

Mayor Domino

The mayor of Midgar by title only; he's actually a figurehead and holds no real power over the city. Despite appearances and the belief of Shinra, Domino is actually shrewd and strongly anti Shinra.

Godo Kisaragi

Yuffie's father, and the leader of Wutai. Wutai was the enemy Shinra fought in a war that occurred around the time of Sephiroth's early life. As a condition of its surrender, Wutai was not allowed to possess any materia and was reduced to a tourist town. Like his daughter, Yuffie, Godo has a bit of an obsession with materia.

Seto

Red XIII's/Nanaki's father. Was believed to be a coward by Red XIII but later revealed to be a great hero who sacrificed his own life for the safety of Cosmo Canyon by keeping the Gi Tribe at bay. The poison arrows of the Gi Tribe turned Seto's body to stone. As Red XIII and Buganhagen visited his body, amazingly, tears fell from Seto's stone eyes.

Dyne

was Barret's best friend and the father of Marlene. He was believed dead after Shinra attacked his hometown of Corel, though he survived, and similarly to Barret, had his severed left forearm replaced with a gun prosthetic. Going insane, Dyne blamed Barret for the death of his wife and the destruction of his town, eventually becoming the "Boss" of Corel Prison beneath the Gold Saucer. He had become a twisted, self-loathing man with a lust for killing. Several years later, he was finally reunited with Barret in the prison and insisted upon a duel with him. Afterwards, he made Barret promise to take care of Marlene and — unable to live with what he had become — committed suicide by jumping off a cliff.

Denzel
User Image
Denzel was the only son of Abel, a worker at Shin-Ra and Chloe. The three of them lived in a Shin-Ra owned residence in the Seventh Sector of Midgar. Both Denzel’s parents perished when the Shin-Ra Company destroyed the Seventh Sector to get rid of AVALANCHE. Having been notified beforehand of the incident, Abel, before his death, had safely sent Denzel with a man named Arkham to the Fifth Sector. He was taken under the care of a woman named Ruvie Tuesti, who happened to be Reeve Tuesti’s mother. When the lifestream burst out of the planet to help Holy overcome Meteor, Ruvie died, trying to protect Denzel from harm. Having lost shelter, Denzel spent his time with a new found friend, Rix, in the Midgar slums, helping to collect steel pipes, bulbs and screw’s for the new town that was being built at the east of Midgar known as “Edge”. Rix then left Denzel behind after having made comments on how he thought slum boys fed off rats. All alone, Denzel found a church in the ruins of Midgar. He found a handphone in a bike outside the church and started desperately dialing the phone number of his house in the Seventh Sector. After several tries, he eventually gave up, tears trickling down his eyes. Denzel later passed out and found himself in the arms of Tifa, with Marlene and Cloud next to him.

Kadaj
User Image
The leader and youngest member of the Sephiroth Remnants, Kadaj has medium-length silver hair and uses a reinforced double katana called "Souba" as his primary weapon. He embodies Sephiroth's cruel childish nature and his boundless determination for vengeance. He refers to anyone with the Geostigma or Jenova cells as his "siblings", and Jenova itself as "Mother". Using the materia he embedded in his arm, he summoned Bahamut SIN to ravage Edge, a city formed just around Midgar, in search for Jenova's remains. Though the summon was defeated, Kadaj obtained Jenova's cells after they were dropped from a building by Rufus Shinra and was pursued by Cloud to the ruins of Midgar. Once he absorbed Jenova's cells, Kadaj transformed into Sephiroth, who took over the fight from there until he abandoned Kadaj's body after the fatal injury dealt on him. Kadaj died in Cloud's arms as his spirit energy was purged of Sephiroth's will and guided into the Lifestream by Aeris's voice, whom he accepted as the mother that he and his 'brothers' had been longing for.

Loz
User Image
The short-haired remnant. He embodies Sephiroth's violent streak, masculinity, and sensitivity. He upsets easily, crying at the thought of never finding 'mother' and referring to Reno as "meanie". Nonetheless, he displays extreme feats of brute strength and speed compared to his 'brothers', as exhibited during his confrontation with Tifa in Aeris's church. Loz is the brawler of the group. He has short silver hair with a more broad frame. He wields a pile bunker called the "Dual Hound" most of the time, though he uses a Velvet Nightmare like Yazoo's. He and Yazoo managed to make it to Cloud's location, arriving after Kadaj's death. Wounded from the explosion Reno and Rude had commenced on them earlier and smoldering from the purifying rain, Cloud was shot by Yazoo who stated "We'll go together," followed by Loz saying, "Together we'll play." Cloud rose to his feet and charged at them. Yazoo and Loz met their end by using an excessive amount of Materia to perform an explosive kamikaze attack that met with Cloud's assault.

Yazoo
User Image
The long-haired remnant, as well as the one with the calmest demeanor. He is the embodiment of Sephiroth's enigmatic allure, taunting his victims as he battles them. Yazoo also has a habit of sarcastically criticizing others, even calling Loz on his cell phone with battle jingle ringtone to see if he was crying while fighting Tifa. Yazoo specializes in firearms, wielding a gun called "Velvet Nightmare". He shot Cloud, intending to bring him to the Promised Land with them, before he and Loz meet their end in an explosion of excessive materia atop the Shinra headquarters. It can be assumed that the weapon he uses to wound Cloud was Loz's, as his own was destroyed previously.

Verdot
User Image
During most of Before Crisis, Verdot is the leader of the Turks, a position held by Tseng during Final Fantasy VII. His official title is "Head of the Department of Administrative Research." He is very particular on matters relating to succeeding in missions and very unforgiving when it comes to failure. Though many of his subordinates are intimidated by his severity, they all deeply respect him. When Heidegger usurps his position at one point during the story, Verdot blackmails President Shinra into returning it. Formerly a resident of the town of Kalm, he had a daughter and wife that he believed perished when the town was razed due to his own misinterpreted commands. In actuality, his daughter survived, and is eventually revealed to be the leader of AVALANCHE, Elfé. He cares very deeply for the Turks, and does not wish for them to suffer any events similar to what he has; he also cares very much for his daughter, defecting from Shinra when he discovers she is alive.

Elfé
User Image
Raised from a young age by AVALANCHE, she was chosen to be their leader after the founder died. She wields a katana, and her superb fighting capabilities have earned her much respect among the organization. Over the course of the story, she is revealed to be getting gradually weaker despite her superhuman strength, both of which came as a result of the presence of a mysterious summon materia — called "Zirconiade" — implanted within her body by Hojo. The only others who seemed aware was Aeris Gainsborough (who felt that Elfé's voice sounded nostalgic, though unaware that she actually recognized materia housed inside Elfé's body) and Fuhito, who intended to use Zirconiade in his plans. This summon beast is drawn from her when Fuhito summons Zirconiade in an incomplete form. Elfé is somewhat quiet, decidedly taciturn, and surprisingly non-charismatic. She is eventually revealed to be Felicia, the daughter of Verdot, leader of the Turks.

Sears
User Image
A powerful field leader of AVALANCHE and second strongest member of the organization in physical terms (second only to Elfé), he had excellent hand-to-hand combat skills and often took charge of executing operations and formulating battle strategies. He is completely devoted to Elfé and even once asks the player to defend her if he should die. He and Fuhito are decidedly unfond of one another, and at one point argue over how Fuhito speaks of Elfé.

Fuhito
User Image
The intellectual force behind AVALANCHE, Fuhito excels in creating battle plans. Highly knowledgeable in not just matters of science, but also in terms of tactical warfare, he is helpful with conceiving tactical solutions and providing support from a strategic vantage. However, he is very treacherous, planning to not only destroy Shinra, but he's also been using Elfé in a plot to summon a creature called "Zirconiade" to fulfill his true ambitions: killing all life on the Planet so as to remove all potential threats to it, while also revitalizing it. Fuhito creates the genetically enhanced AVALANCHE force known as "the Ravens," who serve as his personal attack squad, and he is shown to have no tolerance for failure, casually killing one of his subordinates for being beaten by the Turks. He is also shown to have no patience with Sears.

Rod (Male)
User Image
An ex-gang leader from Midgar, he enjoyed fighting other gangs and stealing motorbikes. He is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, as well as in riding and fixing motorbikes. He was rather unfamiliar with failure, and — with his ever growing confidence — decided to sneak into Shinra's parking garage to steal a bike from the company, but was arrested by Reno. Verdot realized his skills could be used to aid the Turks, and he was offered a place in the organization. He was also called "newcomer" by Reno before the Turks boarded the helicopter.Has no given name.

Gun (Female)
User Image
Her father was a teacher at the Shinra military academy, where she attended. She graduated with outstanding performances, and her forte is marksmanship. Her excellent handling of firearms impressed the leader of the Turks, Tseng, and he recruited her to the force with great confidence in her abilities. She is a very serious person who rarely jokes around, and is often very strict. Elena, a Turks member featured in Final Fantasy VII, is Gun (Female)'s younger sister. The two are not on very good terms in Before Crisis, as — despite their mutual dedication to their work and their exceptional skills — their personalities often clash and Elena resents her sister for outdoing her. Has no given name.

Two Guns (Male)
User Image
A former bodyguard of Don Corneo, his specialty is his ability to rapidly fire two guns at once with outstanding accuracy, much like Gun (Female). Spending most of his time in the slums, he became fed up with the politics that had overrun the underworld society and was offered a place in the Turks. He took up the role, knowing that it would put his skills to the test. His unorthodox "underground" style of conducting missions often results in him failing. Has no given name.

Shotgun (Female)
User Image
A female hunter from a wealthy family who likes to do things with flair. She has familiarized herself with the art of hunting since she was a child, and is, thus, an expert with her chosen weapon. Martial Arts (Male)
User Image
An ex-detective from Costa del Sol, where he solved some rather complicated cases. A passionate, hot blooded and courageous man, he puts his all into everything he does, a trait that manifests in his personal and professional lives. Has no proper name.

Martial Arts (Female)
User Image
A new recruit to the Turks in Episode 7, along with Martial Arts (Male). As a mercenary, she has seen a lot of battle and is accustomed to taking orders. As such, she adjusted to her new-found role in the Turks easier than some. A thoroughly businesslike woman during missions, she gets her work done with a minimum of fuss. She is level-headed, alert and perceptive, frequently able to assess a situation and take the most prudent course of action. She is a skilled martial artist who uses a style that involves a great deal of agility and kicking.Has no proper name.

Katana (Male)
User Image
A swordsman who was born in Gongaga and has a soft spot for beauty. He tends not to stay in one place for very long. Those in his hometown fear his skill and strength for it is said that he killed a large number of people to rescue a friend and was imprisoned as a result. Under the condition that he would join the Turks, he was given amnesty. Has no proper name.

Cissnei
User Image
A young woman whose place of birth is unknown, she wields a crimson Shuriken called "Rekka" in battle as her weapon of choice. She is warm-hearted and has a mothering side which can border on bossy, which often manifests in how she looks after her colleagues. While still in an orphanage at a young age, the Turks expressed an interest in recruiting her, and she was brought up under harsh training techniques. In the history of the Turks, she is the youngest member to join.

Nunchaku (Male)User Image
A young man who was born into a wealthy household, and despite being raised in an environment where anything he wanted could be purchased, he was unsatisfied with money and demanded to join the Turks in order to seek out a new life of his own. The brand of the Turks is very dear to him, and he follows their ideals every day. He is a short-range fighter, using nunchaku in battle. Has no proper name.

Knife (Female)
User Image
A young woman from Corel who fights by using throwing knives. Although she feels as if she's all alone in the world, she covers it up by cheerfully doing her duties. Both her parents died in the war, so she fights desperately in hopes of creating a peaceful world to prevent tragedies like her own from happening again. She is well attuned to other people's feelings and is a bit clumsy due to an old bullet wound. Has no proper name.

Legend (Male)
User Image
Originally from Junon, he is a super-first class agent who was once feared on the battlefield as the God of Death, and is nicknamed the "Legendary Turk". Tierce, Kyneugh &Kanos
A squad of AVALANCHE members who have undergone genetic modification by Fuhito to serve as his personal attack squad. Though they have developed increased combat capabilities, as well as the ability to completely recover from normally fatal wounds, they have lost their humanity. Despite their formidable regenerative capabilities, they can be killed when properly wounded. Named Ravens are Tierce, Kyneugh, and Kanos.

Yishay & Sebastian
Two SOLDIERs Zack is acquainted with. They are later taken prisoner and experimented on by Fuhito. The player Turk later confronts them with aid from Zack, who — unable to free them from their soulless status resulting from Fuhito's experiments — is forced to kill them.

Professor Rayleigh

A scientist who works in Shinra's science department, she appears in an early episode as a target of AVALANCHE, who is seeking the SOLDIER information she carries.

Angeal Hewley

A SOLDIER who is the mentor to members in SOLDIER. Angeal also gives guidance in techniques and doctrines to fellow SOLDIERs. The previous wielder of the Buster Sword which Cloud inherited from Zack, Angeal does not like using the Buster Sword, claiming that he believes it would be "a waste". He does not go on the mission to find Genesis with Zack and Sephiroth leading Sephiroth to question his loyalty. Angeal bears two white right wings on his back which seems to cause him some uneasiness as he considers it the trait of a monster. Whether or not these wings connect him with either Sephiroth or Genesis is not known

Lazard

The head union executive of the Department of SOLDIER of Shinra. During Crisis Core, the SOLDIER department is independent, and Lazard is the union executive overseeing SOLDIER's management and drawing up rough strategy guidelines. Since Lazard does not have the combat abilities of a SOLDIER, he does not operate directly in the field. Within Shin-Ra, Lazard has received promotions at an exceptional speed to attain his present status.

Dr. Hollander

A former Shinra scientist who holds a grudge against Hojo. He was in a power struggle with Hojo in the Department of Scientific Research before getting fired.

Genesis Rhapsodos
User Image
Originally known only as "G", Genesis is a mysterious 1st Class SOLDIER who rebelled against Shin-Ra and went missing during the Wutai war and pursued by the SOLDIER Zack Fair, who had aid from Angeal Hewley and Sephiroth. He appears to have exceptionally bright mako eyes, and he bears a single wing on his left side, in contrast to the one Sephiroth bears on his right. His link to the Deepground organization suggests that his origins lie with the research performed by Lucrecia Crescent and Grimoire Valentine and Project-G, which preceded the later Jenova Project which produced Sephiroth. Genesis was said to have been pursued and taken down by a 1st-class SOLDIER. He appears to be wearing SOLDIER gear beneath a long red overcoat.

Following the events of Crisis Core, nearly all official records of Genesis are erased, leaving behind little more than the first letter of his name and a cryptic connection to the secret organization known as Deepground SOLDIERs. If one talks to one of the personnel aboard the Shera later in the game, he reveals that according to Scarlet's private files, the Deepground are a result of his evolution. The "G Reports" also state that the Tsviets are the spawns of his evolution. But in the Secret Ending of the game, Genesis is shown to be still alive and reclaims Weiss's unconscious body, proclaiming that their work is not done.

Shalua Rui
User Image
A female WRO scientist with a prosthetic left arm, that serves as her life-support system, and a missing left eye. Shalua is a workaholic who is actually searching for her sister, Shelke. Upon meeting her, she was heart-broken over how little of her sister there was left and blamed herself for it. In order to make up, she helped Shelke escape the clutches of Azul, who had turned on her, in exchange for her life. Shalua originally appeared in Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII. She is the one who made Barret's gun arm.

Shelke Rui
User Image
A young girl who wields two energy EM sabers, she is the fourth recuit in the Tsivets, where in she is known as "Shelke the Transparent." Shelke herself said she is 19 years old, but her conditioning as a Deepground Soldier halted her physical maturation, trapping her in the body of a ten-year-old.Her name means orange in Urdu, a reference to her amber-colored eyes. She is Shalua's younger sister. Commonly seen along with Azul, as she is helping him hunt down Vincent. Her ability is SND (Synaptic Net Dive), which allows her to create her residual image and dive into the network to negotiate with data on the subconscious planes of sentient life forms. At first, she has almost no emotions and feels little compassion. As Dirge of Cerberus progresses she becomes linked with the personality data of Lucrecia, and begins to feel and say what Lucrecia feels. She can move extremely fast as seen in the boss fight with her and during the Engine room event on the Shera airship. However, she loses most of her strength if she is not showered with Mako regularly.

Grimoire Valentine

Grimoire Valentine is Vincent's father and Lucrecia's mentor. A computer console classified him as a Discoverer. With his knowledge of Chaos' location beneath a sacred fountain, Lucrecia and he went forth to test her thesis. However a dire mistake during an experiment lead to Dr. Valentine's death as he pushed Lucrecia out of the way from the rupturing capsule. His death resulted in Lucrecia distancing herself from Vincent and upon Vincent discovering her professional relationship with his father her guilt led her to Hojo's arms. Vincent shares the similar eye color of his father and their outfits seems to bare some slight similarities as well, mainly the cloak, gun holster, and buckles throughout the design. He wrote the first 5 Omega Reports.

Usher
A mysterious orange haired SOLDIER. Shelke deactivates her Synaptic Net Dive Usher disappears, because he was a simulation created by Shelke to helping with their plan to overthrow the Restrictors.

Azul
User Image
A member of the Tsviets, known as "Azul the Cerulean". He is 33 years old. His name means blue in Portuguese and Spanish. He first appeared in Before Crisis as a normal man who wanted to be a SOLDIER. Though it's not known how he joined the Deepground, Azul was promoted very quickly as the final member of Tsviets. He uses a large cannon as his weapon, which suits his hulking form. He was one of three Tviests subjected to the Metamorphose experiment, assuming the form of the Behemoth-like Arch Azul and killing his fellow guinea pigs to test their worth to the Deepground. He also appears to possess something similar to the "final attack-revive" materia combination within his body, as at least once per battle, he is revived from a fatal wound. He fought with Vincent three times and was finally killed when Vincent, in Chaos form, impaled him with his own cannon. Azul smirked that Vincent was more of a beast than he was.

Rosso
User Image
The 3rd recuit of the Tsviets, known as "Rosso the Crimson".Her name means red in Italian. She is 25 years old and was born in Deepground. Rosso wields a double bladed weapon which is also capable of bursts of gunfire. Rosso is dangerously psychotic as a result of her involvement with Deepground, and takes great pleasure in inflicting pain and violent death upon those she encounters. She scuffled with Cloud during the WRO's assault on Midgar before finally encountering Vincent atop the ruins of the old Shinra building. Overconfident and egomaniacal to the end, Rosso denied Vincent 'the pleasure of killing Rosso the Crimson' (in her own words) by collapsing the portion of the building she was standing on, causing her to plummet to her death.

Nero
User Image
The 2nd member of the Tsviets at age 23, called "Nero the Sable." His body is always covered in darkness, and the player can not see his figure clearly. The darkness Nero controls draws in everything like a black hole, and it is possible for only him to take them out of it. Later, Vincent is revealed to be the only person capable of entering and leaving Nero's darkness, for his own darkness is apparently far deeper. It is said that the restraint like outfit he wears is to keep his power under control. His name means black in Italian. Nero is the biological younger brother of Weiss, the only successful experiment from G-Subtance injection while in the fetal stage, with his mother sucked into the darkness upon his birth. He is the "only success" in that although Rosso, Azul, and Weiss are all the sole survivors of the same experiment, only he retains powers related to the substance. He is the one who secretly lead Deepground under Weiss’ name after the unification of Deepground when Weiss’ state became unclear to the remaining Deepground Soldiers. When facing Vincent a second time, he took Vincent to his world where he appeared as Arachnero attached to a spider-like machine. Once defeated, he returned to his brother, only to be stabbed by Weiss under Hojo's control. After Weiss was beaten, Nero appeared and merged into Weiss, never wanting to be separated from him again. This, in turn, destroyed Hojo and his control over Weiss.

Weiss
User Image
A mysterious SOLDIER who commands Deepground, declaring a hunt on the world three years after the Meteor crisis. Weiss means white in German. Called "Weiss the Immaculate" he received the title of emperor as he is the strongest Tsviet as well as the first, making all Deepground soldiers fear his power, and follow him, but it's said that they rarely see him directly. He has spiky gray/silver hair and wields two katana-revolver hybrids .He has all of the other Tsviet members' abilities (including Shelke's SND) within himself. At the time of the revival festival of Kalm, the worldwide network that had broken since the meteor disaster is fully restored. The fragments of Hojo’s digitized mind that got spread over before were about to reform a simulation of Hojo himself. He then invaded Weiss' body when the man was in SND to find the cure to the time released virus the Restrictors had infected him with to control him, set to kill him within 3 days if the Restrictors' signal disappears. Hojo, through Weiss's body, had the Deepground abduct those not under the effects of Geostigma to serve as incubators of enough pure Mako to enable Weiss to absorb Omega as well as trick the Planet into summoning it. The Mako-influence gave Weiss abilities far beyond Vincent's and was easily able to overcome him. But Vincent was able to turn the tables by using his Chaos power to defeat Weiss. Once defeated, Nero, who had been watching, wanted to merge with his "brother." Hojo vainly ordered Nero to stop, knowing he wouldn't be able to control Omega with an impure being inside him. Neither Weiss nor Nero cared and Hojo was finally destroyed as Nero integrated into Weiss. Weiss was later killed by Vincent in Chaos form. However, Weiss's body was carried off by an awakened Genesis who told Weiss that "it is not yet time for slumber" and they "still have much work to do", addressing Weiss as his brother.

Argento

her color is "silver". Her job is not to fight, but rather to "watch and observe" as an instructor. It is said that she conceals her true strength, which makes her appear to be weak. She carries a large sword as her weapon. She conspired with Weiss to overthrow Restrictor. She and Shelke are the only two that are not killed by Vincent Valentine in some way. She has an eye-patch over her right eye. Argento means silver in both Latin and Italian.

Minerva
Minerva is a character from Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. Although her exact nature is not known in details, she is related to the planet's consciousness, and may either be its personification or its goddess. In the Final Fantasy VII Ultimania, she was described as "the existence that transcends all matter", which possibly alone backs up the evidence that she is indeed its Goddess. She is interpreted to be the Goddess mentioned in LOVELESS, but in terms of substance she is similar to a summon, though it seems that the purpose behind her actions is to follow the intentions of the Lifestream.

Gillian Hewley

is a character from Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. The mother of Angeal Hewley, wife to Dr. Hollander, and the original host for Project G.

Before the events of Crisis Core, Gillian, while working with Shinra's science department, met with Dr. Hollander and became a part of his experiment. Whilst he was still in Shinra, Hollander tried to surpass Professor Hojo and create a Cetra before him and anybody else. This experiment was named "Project Gillian". Using Gillian Hewley as a subject, he infused her with Jenova cells. When she become pregnant, the result was Angeal Hewley.

There was another child used in the experiment. This one was not born from Gillian herself, but injected with her cells while still a fetus. It was this project that created Genesis Rhapsodos. This time, Genesis was injected with Gillian's cells while a fetus, however this experiment was imperfect. To be exact, all of it was. He was the son of the mayor of Banora.
