Serena Sat on the roof of a building, looking out over the streets as she felt the setting sun hit her back. Twilight was coming. It was her favorite time of day. She'd heard the rumors of the darkness laws and had come to this town to sniff around a bit. She put a hand to her pistol which she had at her waist as the first star came into view above.

Irene roamed the streets, and noticed it was already getting dark. But she had to run an errand for her father and doubted she would be home by dark. This scared her, she had a fear of the dark ever since this one night when she was six. She held onto her bag tightly as she continued the way to finishe the errand.

Aubrey waited in the alleyway behind the grocery store. He could already hear the slams of doors and windows, the turning of locks, and the hushed whispers to prepare.
'The Darkness is coming.'
If the only knew. Aubrey's wings emerged from his back, usually conceiled during the day. His darker half needed to feed, and maybe he'd be lucky enough to not feed on livestock tonight.
The pitter patter of quick footsteps drew louder, and presumably nearer. Hopefully it wouldn't be anyone he knew. It was dark enough now for Aubrey to conceil himself, but there were still threads of light left in the cracks here and there. He stepped out onto the street, the steps growing louder... Nearer...

Irene stopped in front of an alleyway. She saw the dooralready closed to the grocery store. "Wait, please! I have something I need to get!" There was silence. "I need some medicine for my father, he's really sick and I came here to get it. I have the money and everything." More silence, she was unsure now of what to do.

"Irene..." Came a taunting voice from the darkness of the alley.
"Oh, poor little Irene, no medicine for Daddy? Boo hoo.." The mocking continued, when a lifting voice broke the silence.
"Run, Irene! Go!"
"Idiot!" A ruffle of what sounded like feathers followed and then a growl.
"I always liked chasing my meal."

Irene looked around at first in fear, but she had to pull herself together. She needed that medicine. If she didn't it would mean her dad's life. Irene busted into the store, and ran in. No wonder there was silence, no one was in here. Irene dashed to where the medicine was and left the money for it on the counter. She called out into the darkness. "Whoever you are it's not funny! If that's you Danny I'm gonna pop you one!" She was referring to her prankster friend. Of course it wasn't him, no one was out here at night. Fear came to her again.

"Get out!!!" More ruffling of feathers was heard, and Aubrey emerged from the darkness, visibly struggling with himself. His eyes were gold momentarily, then flashed red, then gold again.
"Run, Irene! Get out of the Darkness!" Aubrey collapsed, holding his head, his hair changing colors to match his eyes as well. His wings emerged from his back and began to flap vigourously, and Aubrey rose in the air. One of his wings were white, and the other was black, and they kept switching sides, the colors that is.
"Aaah! Run!"
The last threads of light were fading, and every time that light hit his skin, would leave a burn mark, and then would heal rapidly, and then happen again.

Irene gasped, and knew there was nothing she could do but run. She dashed out the door and started to run towards her house. Even running, it woud take a few minutes for her to reach home. He was battling with himself... Irene felt bad for him and swore when it was daylight she would find him and thank him. She could imagine what it was like to not be able to control youself... As a child she was hated and outcasted. Plus, she was naturally kind.

Kaori was walking her wings tucked behind her. She turned her head to see a girl running. she tilted her head and fell backwards as the girl passed her.

Irene stopped and turned to help the girl she knocked over. "Hey, whet are you doing out here in the dark?! You'll get killed out here." Irene looked around. "Follow me. We need to get somewhere safe."
