 His charge had stormed off somewhere and, for once, he did not feel like following her. She was so insistant that her wings would be strong enough to carry her out of harm's way and he was fine with letting her think that. He knew that, should she shriek, his legs were both strong enough and fast enough to carry him to her defense. He was not worried about that.
Snorting softly he leaned down to the water he had found, admiring his reflection in the lake for a moment. He had looks, intelligence and, obviously, strength. What more did he need? An apple... Yes, an apple would certainly compliment everything nicely at the moment... And perhaps a mare to bring him one.

 An apple was the same thing on Shikoba's mind as he strolled along the banks of a small stream. And to his surprise and delight, he came upon an apple tree no more than ten strides ahead of him. Grinning to himself, he lowered his head and nudged around the many apples on the ground, trying to find the best one. Not too bruised from the fall, and not over-ripe. Finding the one he thought was best, he took it in his teeth and started munching. He had indeed chosen a good apple. Perfectly juicy and just enough crunch.

He turned away from the lake after making certain that everything was in place, giving his head one more light toss to rustle his mane 'just so'. He had passed a tree with apples on his way to the lake and there had to be one still on the tree within reach. That would be far more pleasant than plucking one off of the ground.
As he approached the tree he paused, brow lofting as he caught sight of another Soquili. Long hair... He continued to gaze for a moment, brow furrowing as he came to a realization. "Well, you're certainly not a mare."

Shikoba raised his head quite quickly as he heard a voice. He hadn't seen anybody as he approached the tree, and was actually somewhat startled. As he laid his eyes on the stallion before him, he blinked a few times. He looked very ethereal....almost like a golden cloud, soaked with rain.
As soon as he realized what the other had said, he face changed to an expression of slight anger.
"Well, there's an observation. How long did it take you to figure that one out?"

"A moment longer than I would have liked, my feathered friend." He smirked as he aproached the tree, eyeing it as one would a prize. It was a prize, afterall... Or, rather, the apples dangling from its branches were; a prize worthy of being claimed by none other than himself.
He stretched his neck out, plucking an apple from one of the lower branches just within his reach. He listened to the satisfying crunch as his teeth broke the skin, smiling in delight at the taste. Sweet... But not too sweet. Perfect.
Once he had taken all that he wanted he let the core fall to his feet, turning his attentions back towards the other stallion. His brow lofted once more. "I assume you have a name... What is it?"

Shikoba had dropped his apple when the stallion approached, and he hadn't paid anymore attention to it since.
He raised his eyebrows at the other, insulted by his rudeness. That was no way to ask somebody for a name.
"I don't quite think that's the way to ask. Don't you have any manners? I might ask your name as well, and I think I am more entitled to know yours than you are to know mine."
It was true. Shikoba felt he deserved a lot more respect from this stallion, and wasn't going to give any respect until he received it first.

"Entitled, you say?" He chuckled, a broad grin curving his mouth as he gave his head a light toss. "I suppose it wouldn't be of inconvenience for me to introduce myself to you..." Afterall, he had just mistaken the stallion, if only momentarily, for a mare.
He stepped back away from the tree, placing one hoof out in frong of him before dipping his head down in a proper, flourishing bow. "I am Telikos..." He straightened himself out, gaze fixing on the other stallion. "And you are?"

Shikoba scoffed at the ridiculous bow that the stallion accompanied with his introduction. There was really no need for that. It seemed like he was showing off a bit. Sure, he had a very flashy and somewhat surprising appearance, but he was being a jerk about it.
Well, since he had told the other that he would give him his name once he had been told the other's, he was pretty much stuck now. It wasn't quite respectful, but he had introduced himself, right?
He sighed, a slight glare in his eye. "My name is Shikoba"

"Shikoba, is it? That sounds lik a good, strong name. Tell me, Shikoba... What is more important to you; strength, intelligence or charisma?" His brow lofted slightly as he looked to the other stallion as if trying to guage something about him.

The comment about his name would have seemed like a compliment were it not for the stallion's attitude. Shikoba glared a bit at him, then tilted his head slightly at his question.
"That's a very strange question. Why do you ask that of me? Are you taking some kind of survey?"
The last question was said with a sting of sarcasm. What business of his was Shikoba's preference in attributes?

Shikoba fumed. Him unpleasant?! Had this stallion taken a look at himself lately? He lowered his head slightly, his brow furrowed in frustration.
"I'm only unpleasant in the company of those with such unpleasant attitudes. It seems to be contagious."

Surely this winged stallion couldn't possibly be calling him unpleasant. All in all, beyond the first initial disappointment of finding a stallion with apples instead of a mare, he thought he was being rather well behaved. "I have never met a stallion who has made quite as many faces as you have since our introduction... Is it truly all that difficult to answer a simple question?"

Shikoba almost made another face at this most recent comment, but caught himself before doing so. He stamped his foot a tiny bit and tossed his mane to the side.
"Its not difficult at all. I'd have to say intelligence. You can be as strong or charismatic as you want, but unless you have the intelligence to know how to use them effectively, you have nothing. And what is your opinion on your own question?"
Shikoba was actually quite proud of his answer, and he believed it whole-heartedly. Intelligence was survival.

"Good answer... A very good answer to start off with." He nickered softly as he mulled over the other male's words. "My answer would be all of the above. As you yourself have just said, you cannot use one properly without the others. Intelligence is nothing if you are too weak to use it or too unpleasant to share it. Charisma is nothing if there is no mind within your head or strength to stand on your own. Strength... Well, brute strength can be useful but brutes rarely find themselves in places of leadership."
