Today would be the perfect day. The sky was blue, the sun warm, and the white stringy clouds showed no sign of impending rain. A light breeze blew the grasses and rippled through the occasional tree. Flower felt on top of the word. She had met some interesting characters as of late though, most good, decent Soquili from what she could gather, but there were a few bad apples in the bunch in an I’m-going-to-eat-you sort of way. But she was still here, and that was a very good thing.

The mare walked along without much purpose, merely enjoying the splendors that the spirits had left them. Up ahead she noticed a fairly large, old tree. It had massive boughs covered in tiny pale, pink blossoms. The branches hung almost like a willow tree’s but with a bit more arc to them. Petals were constantly raining down to litter the grass below. She hadn’t seen one of these trees in ages! It reminded her of home. She hadn’t seen a Hawthorn tree since she left. It was truly, a sight for sore eyes.

Flower looked all around her, her inner filly wanting nothing more than to prance about beneath the ancient tree, and saw no one in sight. Well, she would just have indulge in a romp. What could it hurt?

She ran under the tree and began to dance and twirl beneath the shower of petals, her mane bouncing around her form, with a grin on her face. The mare’s eyes lit with joy and an innocence she had lost long ago, but it was merely a flicker. An old song escaped her lips, ringing sweetly through the air.

“There was a maid of my country as she came by a hawthorn tree, as full of flow'rs as might be seen she marvel'd to see the tree so green. At last she asked of this tree, how came this freshness unto thee, and ev'ry branch so fair and clean? I marvel that you grow so green. The tree made answer by and by, I have cause to grow triumphantly, the sweetest dew that ever be seen doth fall on me to keep me green. Yea, quoth the maid, but where you grow you stand at hand for ev'ry bow, of ev'ry man for to be seen, I marvel that you grow so green.”

This was the first time in years when she felt truly happy.

One thing that Liani had to say about thisa new part of the land, it sure wasn't boring. Both geographically and socially, it seemed as though there was something new to encounter every few feet, be it the transition from forest to mountains or meeting a Soquili sprouting the wings of an insect. Even though she'd originally set out this way as a mare on a mission, she wasn't the type to ignore the sights just because she had drive!

Still, just because she enjoyed the traveling didn't mean that she couldn't get bored or even frustrated, and at the moment she was both. Why, oh why, was it so hard to find a Soquili as bright and red as she herself? You'd think that it'd be nigh impossible for him to hide amidst all the greenery...but then again, he had wings, something she herself lacked. But she DID have tenacity, and that was something.

Mulling over that thought, she almost missed the other mare. How, she wasn't quite sure, since the other mare was singing rather loudly, but pass her by she nearly had...until the small dancing form registered. Another Us, all the way out here?

Tossing back her tangled mane, she raised a brow and looked curiously at the other mare, then called out in a slight drawl "Hey babe, have you by any chance seen a big red cardinal-looking Soquili stallion around?" Might as well see what the locals had to say while she had a local handy!

The skunk coloured mare stopped mid step, her voice breaking off and her ears perking towards the other female. She turned, sapphire eyes wide with alarm. "Y-Yeh gave me qui' a start." She said, trying to play it off, as no big deal. The mare didn't seem hostile, no in fact, far from it. She forced a smile that looked genuine.

"Sorr'eh l-l-love Ah've not seen s-s-such a male 'r-r-round." She replied, her deep baritone voice thick with a cockney brogue. She often slipped into it when she was frightened or startled. But since it was the latter it would probably go away quite quickly.

She tossed her head slightly to get her forelock out of her eyes. She seemed to be calming visibly, even if her speech said otherwise. It would be incredably hard ot get her out of her jovial mood today, unless of course she met someone dangerous.

Talk about your surprises. As the other mare twitched out of her dancing and stammered out her words, Liani merely watched, one raised eyebrow the only sign that anything was even slightly amiss in the other mare. But man, being stammered at was something she sure wasn't used to.

Oh well, to each their own quirky habits. If the skunk mare wanted to stammer, that was her business; for all Liani knew, it might even be a character trait. So, after the other mare had finished speaking, she merely sighed, then shrugged off the answer she'd received.

"Ah well, Guili's a crafty one so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Thanks anyway, babe; I didn't mean to interrupt your dancing or anything, but you know how it can be; try to take advantage of any opportunity."

Flower was, to say the least, a bit embarrassed being caught doing something so foal-like. "There was nothin' ter i-interrupt." She said as she forced a relaxed looking smile. "S-So do ya's need any 'elp? T-Two pair 'o eyes are b-better than one." She offered. She had never met another female, adult Usdia and she thought it might be nice to know someone of her stature. Who better to understand things than another mare, after all?

Besides, she needed something constructive to do with her time. She wasn't stallion mad as some of the others she had met. This seemed like the perfect opportunity. She needed to be more spontaneous and loosen up, as someone once told her. This Guili bloke might be interesting.
