Tap... Tap... Tap... His fingers rummed against the wood of the desk, his brain felt as though it was clogged, and perhaps it was... work had piled up on his desk, each with teh same excuse; I'm just getting readjusted to the new office... But that wasn't true at all. No...

And now, now there was crisis. The alarms had gone off, he'd gotten a call already, things were on edge. He needed genious... The genious he used to have, but it failed him. Again and again it just wasn't coming. The better part of his mind reasoned why... The accident, perhaps, had taken a bit more than just legs. It made sense from what he knew of medical... which used to be quite a bit, but still he refused to beleive it. No, to accept it.

Which left him here, knee deep in a shitfest and no idea how to get out... So far he'd just hocked it off on the techs, but that was just going to result in death... Nonono. No more deaths. That was the whole reason he made this project, the reason he made the kids, just so that the dragon-Human partnership wouldn't result in any more deaths--

Thats it!

He leaned forward in his chair suddenlly, causing Talia sitting nearby to jump in suprise, and grabbed his phone, dialing a series of numbers. Thats what these kids were for, afterall!

The first on the list were those who were already teens, whos dragons were maturing to comprehensable levels, those in the advanced classes... And following the short number of those, desperation called the pre-teens.

Everyone who actually answered their phone was given this message: "Hello, this is Alan Rikery, the head of D-corp. There's an emergency here at D-corp. We ask that you and your dragon come down immediatly. We beleive the relationship you and your dragon have will be able to help... To negotiate. You won't be put in harms way, and if you're beleived to be so you will be removed immediatly... But there's no one here that would possibly be able to reason at this point. Thankyou."

And that was it, the phone was hung up after the last one, and Alan was wheeling out of his new office. "Stay here..." he commanded Talia, as he left to get to the elevator and meet the "recruits" out in the parkinglot.

Of course, when Raven got the call, she practically shoved Anoki and Myung-Ki out of the door. It was a relief to have an excuse to get them out of her hair for a while. Furthermore, it was a chance to see if her charge had actually learned anything under her. He should, by all rights, be able to handle a minor crisis. Not to mention his dragon. This would be good proof. And if he was injured and had to spend more time out of the house, she wouldn't cry over it.

Which left Anoki wandering over to the parking lot as slowly as he possibly could, kicking pebbles and catching leaves on the way as if that would make the inevitable less... inevitable. Dealing with negotiations sounded tricky, and the whole danger thing was less than reassuring.

Sighing, he looked at Myung-Ki, who was leading the way. If their relationship was supposed to be some sort of saving force, they were all probably doomed.

Surprisingly, Myung-Ki felt quite cooperative that day. He knew that the phone call had been about HIM. And he would do whatever it took to make sure all eyes were on HIM. Oh sure, his human could get attention too- after all, it was one of HIS possessions, and worthy of praise. But it was all about him, so he had to be best behaved and then they'd see how wonderful he was.

When Jayoku had heard the message she had been a bit relunctant to pass the important information along. It sounded urgent and she didn't want her two babies to go running head long into something that could very well turn out to be dangerous. But Chath had been nearby when she had listened to the message and he was already getting ready to go. Zyan her stubborness to not be left out was also joining her brother. Perhaps she was hopeful there would be fighting. She seemed the type. And suddenly they were gone. The house seemed very empty without them or their dragons. Maybe this would be a good time to clean house. . .

Chath seemed rather pumped about going, a large smile on his face as he started to jog towards the D-corp facility. Keir was still too small to carry him and fly there but the black didn't seem to mind that fact that they were jogging. More coperative than usual as well more silent.

He looked over his shoulder to see that his sister was attempting to keep up. Fit as she was, she wasn't use to long distance jogging. She was more a short distance sprinter Uncconsiouly he slowed his pace, though his thoughtfullness only rewarded him with a glare as she caught up.

He frowned as he looked back ahead, the fight between Keir and Baroness had made him realize that there were many questions he wanted to still ask about his dragon's breed. Would his temper only get worse as he aged? Was there some sort of peace offering he could offer Baroness to ask for forgivness for the rudeness of his own dragon? if the message didn't sound so urgent he would of been bold enough to ask when they arrived...

Maybe there would be a chance later.

Zyanya wasn't sure about the phone call. Or message as it were. SHe only caught bits of it, since she had come into the room near the end of the message, and if Chath was going then she was going as well. Besides HInder was getting cabin fever from being inside, this gave her a good excuse to take the green dragon outside.

Though still eager as always the Green dragon's personality was shifting to a more craftiness way of thinking. Only interested in doing things if there was something he gained by it he had seemed to become some sort of minion to Ter's dragon Baroness. Zyan narrowed her eyes at the thought. Somehow...she didn't think he was doing it just for fun.

And why were the jogging?? Her breathing was already starting to catch in her lungs, it burned and hurt. She knew Chath could keep this pace up for a long while....he did jog every day the freak. Though she did notice his water bottle was attatched to his belt...did he think they were going to be out for a while?

Well damn. Both Lian and his little cousin had recieved the phone call. Xiao was up and ready, winding around the air, about Lians head and around his body, while Shilling trailed after with a tired 'toot' through his whiskers.

Lian had thrown on a pair of pants and some shoes but Dagger had also forced a thin white wife beater over his head. It was better to be prepared, she told him, and he grudgingly left it at that. Cleo had been there too, waiting for him. Her outfit was a little... short for superhero work, he thought. Bright yellow, fluffy shirt, pulled back hair some a skirt so jean and so tight that he had trouble distinguishing if it was a skirt or skin.

She was cheerful enough, though, and she was still smiling. Even as they entered, her gold by her side, her fingers stroking along the scales, she was smiling. "This might be fun!" Her voice was cheerful, glancing over to Lian as they padded inside. The panda snorted much like his dragon did when she was in disbelief and his head shook.

"Not if they had to call us." He grumbled. "I think we're screwed." Lian paused, grinning as he sa Chath his hand raising in greeting. "Hey!" He called out, voice higher, "Chath!"

Reign had answered the phone at the Ledell household. After hanging up the phone, she stared at it for a long moment. Her mom wouldn't like this... "MOM!" She shouted, headed for the woman's office, where she was typing away at something or another. The girl wasn't real sure what her mother was always typing about.

"Yes?" Niki glanced up from her typing, grimacing as she realized she'd been in one position for too long.

"The head of D-corp called and..."

Niki's head shot up at that. "What did he want?" She asked, a bit too eagerly.

Reign eyed her mother for a moment. "It was for Ala. Apparently there's something going on at D-corp and they need her and Bob there to help."

Niki frowned. How dangerous was this going to be...? She sighed and stood, stretching. "Do you mind watching the boys? I'll have to drive her over..."

-------------

Niki's jeep pulled into the parking lot with Ala pointing over to the group of kids starting to form. "Over there!" She frowned as her mother started to park. "We can just get out here, Mom..." She grumbled. "None of the other parents are here."

Niki ignored her daughter, parked, and shut the engine off. "C'mon, Ala. Let's go see what the problem is..."

A grumpy almost-teen was already walking off, headed for the group in hopes of leaving her mother behind. Bob was quickly scurrying off after her to catch up. Niki sighed and slowly made her way towards the group as well. So what if none of the other parents were there?

Nibal was worried about his parent. Peri had been gone for a while and the alarm was still going off, the voice announcement triggering every five minutes or so now. Either someone had forgotten to turn it off or else something was wrong.

The boy jumped when Peri's office phone rang. He eyed it for a moment before rushing over to answer it. Maybe P'las was calling him! "P'las?!" The boy answered, hoping it was him on the other line.

After Alan had finished, Nibal hung up the phone and looked over at Kalseru, who trilled questioningly at him. "Alan said we're supposed to be helping..." The boy told her, though it was more thinking aloud than anything else. "But P'las said to stay here... so we're supposed to stay here."

Kalseru got up from where she was lounging in the corner and trotted over to the office door, flicking her tail as she glanced backwards at her boy and snorted.

"But P'las said to stay here!" Nibal said, a bit panicky. He was a good boy. He didn't disobey what P'las said.

Kal snorted again, this time more impatiently. She reached her neck over to tug at Nibal's sleeve.

"You mean... maybe P'las had Alan call?"

Grinning, the green dragon nodded. Sure, if that'll get you to come, she told him in Draconic, which Nibal didn't know, of course.

"Okay... I guess you could be right."

Snorting as if to say "Of course I am", Kalseru pawed at the door handle and Nibal finally opened up and headed through the vacant hallway towards the elevators.

------------------

The elevators opened on the first floor and the boy peered about for the group that was supposed to be meeting here. Then again, maybe he was the first since he was already here? Nibal shrugged and wandered about the lobby for a moment before spotting a small group outside. Ah, there they all were! Apparently he hadn't been the first called. Or even one of the first, it seemed. "C'mon, Kal." Nibal told his dragon and headed outside to see what exactly was going on.

Fleur hopped out of the car before waiting for it to come to a complete stop, rushing around to the back to open the hatch so Aube en Argent could hop out. Chrysler yelled and slammed on the brakes when he did so, but she should have been used to his impulsiveness by now - it was not the first time he had pulled that stunt. Fleur, however, was too excited and curious to think about how Chrysler was going to singe his tail for doing it later. He had received a call requesting him and Argent - they were needed! He had never been needed for anything before, so he was ecstatic to see what this was all about.

Argent, however, was much less so. She was thinking about this situation more logically than her emotional and hyper skunk. Why on earth would they be needed for an emergency? They were still very young, and Fleur had only had one magic class so far and no combat classes. What use would they be?

As Fleur was closing up the hatch of the car after she exited, the silver dragon looked around the parking lot in both curiosity and concern. There were already many dragons and their children here...this did not bode well.

Ligeia looked up from the book he was reading as the message came over the answering machine at their place. He hadn't even heard the phone he realized as he closed the book then moved over to et the phone quickly before the one on the other end hung up, he listening closely to what was said to him and he found himself wondering what sort of emergency it was in detail.

He didn't hesitate though after hanging up as he pushed up to his feet, tossing the book onto the couch. If he and Vorel were needed then he would go and meet up with Alan.

"Vorel! Come on!" He called out to the Frost Dragon who was currently loungning, half asleep in front of the air conditioner.

Vorel looked up at him for a moment, yawned then stretched out, "Where we going?" He asked, moving to keep up with Ligeia, catching the urgency that was in the movements of his owl.

"There was a call from D-corp requesting our presence, some emergency." He said, thinking on the last few times their presence was required and started to feel a bit aphrensive. He then shook his head, no he couldn't waste time with idle worry. He started to head towards the door when something grabbed hold of his wrist.

Ter was standing there, glarring at him, "Leaving without us?" He asked.

Ligeia looked at his brother, then passed him to Baroness. She was looking whole, healthy, and happy despite her fight. No doubt she was like Ter and bounced back well enough and/or enjoyed the fight... he blinked as he recalled the message before giving a nod of his head. It was asking for all of those with dragons wasn't it? He wasn't sure if he wanted Ter along, didn't want his brother in a situation that could be dangerous but... he really couldn't leave Ter home as he'd just follow.

"Alright. Lets go." He said to Ter and Baroness, "Just... stay with me ok?"

He turned and headed out the door now with his brother and their dragons following after.

*****

There were already quite a few people here when he arrived. A few even that he knew, "Ahh, Chath and Zyanya are here." He said, turning to his brother only to find that the moment Z's name was mentioned Ter was slithering forward towards her. Ligeia gave a sighing sound as he watched, "So much for staying with me huh?" He said to Vorel.

The Frost gave a dragon version of a laugh before nudging Ligeia forward. Best that they stay with Ter and Baroness since they were who they were, and since Keir was here. Vorel would do what he could to keep the two from fighting anymore since they were here for other reasons.

"Z!" Ter said, slithering over to the mantis girl.

Ligeia gave a smile and waved to Chath when he got close, "Hello."

Tyven was only minutes behind her older sister, simply because she'd been at the gym, and had gotten the message over the sound system there. Now, though, she was a bit irritated that Cleo had left without her [at least Lian had been there?] and strode over with her obsidion lindworm. It'd been a long time since she'd seen some of these kids. Everyone had grown. Lacking a shirt, but chest bound, she also wore faded jeans rolled up to her knees, her hand and foot wrappings, and of course, an apathetic expression. Tyven silently took catalogue. Chath, Zyanya, Nibal, Lian and Cleo, of course. The others were familiar, but no one she really knew. The lean girl wasn't too sociable.

Azucar nudged her gently in the back before turning his hostile gaze toward the other preteens in the vicinity. He'd never met them before.

Earako hadn't exactly wanted to come. She wanted to be useful, but she was still sure that someone else would prove themselves much more useful than she could ever be. Still, it wasn't polite to turn down requests for help, and D-corp was, well, D-corp. She owed them her existance, and Vimber's too.

So she'd put on her favorite dress, one of the one's she'd sewn herself recently. Dark red velvet and black lace, she liked to think it allowed her to better match the dragon at her side.

There were a lot of dragon's in the lot, and Earako immediately placed her hand on Vimber's head in caution.

"You have to be good." She muttered, more begging than warning.

"Why?" The dragon asked, using some of her limited human vocabulary.

"Because, if D-corp sees that you don't listen, they could take you away from me." She had no real proof of this theory, of course. But insecurity was enough for her.

Vimber hissed, moving closer to her partner, and trying not pay any attention to the other dragons. Her tail lashed with contained irritation, but the threat of having her Special taken from her was enough to keep her ordinary aggression contained.

Earako, after some hesitant scanning of the others, headed toward Anoki. He wasn't the only one she recognized, but he was one of the most comforting faces there.

"Hello everyone!" She called out, waving to the group at large. She didn't want to seem as if she was excluding anyone.

" Echo I can see Fleur and Chath and Lian an bunch of other's I don't know. I don't see anything wrong yet but some people don't look to happy I wonder if they know more about what's going on." Del called back to her partner. With no motor vehicle access she had been forced to bike and Echo to run behind her.

Having been poolside at a rec center fortunately closer to D-corp than home Del was clothed only in a wet but rapidly drying black swimsuit and a soggy blue skirt that had been pulled hastily on before mounting her bike.

Echo made a non committal noise as they quickly approached the others that had been called in. Having been at Del's side when the call came in
he was none too pleased with the situation. It was a chance Del had been waiting for in her past but now served only as hindrance to the new identity she sought.

Not to mention that he doubted the assembled group and children and dragons would accomplish much. How could they negotiate with anyone when most of them would want to be fighting due to conflicting inherent natures. The young Bronze dragon didn't know a lot but he did know that whatever needed to be done would take much work to pull off.

Lucía catches the telephone and she listens Alan's call "Hello, this is Alan Rikery, the head of D-corp. There's an emergency here at D-corp. We ask that you and your dragon come down immediatly. But there's no one here that would possibly be able to reason at this point. Thankyou." After hanging Lucía goes toward the courtyard to get Tiamat and to arrive to the encounter point.

When Lucía arrives to D-corp she sees a lot of teens with they dragons but she imediataly sees Baroness or rather Tiamat sees Baroness and Tiamat runs toward her.

"Baroooooo watch " Lucía tries to warn to the poor dragon, Tiamat is not aware of her new size.

Heart plummetting at the news, Tara had seriously considered not passing it along. Aysel was out with Apala at the mall, and the mage honestly didn't think that her daughter was going to be any use. All she seemed to do recently was talk on the phone, go to the mall, and hide away in her room.

She bit her lip, replaying the message mentally. As long as she wasn't hurt.. Maybe giving her some responsibility would head of this period of fluffheadedness.

****

The family arrived at the parking lot in a large silver pod. One side shimmered out of sight, while an irate preteen stepped out, followed closely by a bronze dragon. "I still get why I have to do this," Aysel snapped.

Tara and Apala gave the girl a look. One of exhasperation, one of bemusement. Tara snapped back, "Because that's what responsibility is." And with that the vehicle dissapeared stranding the two in front of D-corp.

With a huff and a flip of her hair, Aysel started stomping towards the group. "C'mon. Let's just get this over with." Waving to the group she perked up as she realized that all of the kids were her age or older.

Quickly the bronze caught up to Aysel. "Should listen." Apala chided. Mommy-Elder had good points, and she was right to listen to.

"Whatever," came the dismissive response. Frustrated the bronze growled. He was still working on that English thing, but ohh... if she could just understand his point! Not having the vocabulary to continue on the verbal fight he looked around at all the dragons. Perhaps after this crisis one of them could translate.

"Y'want her to what?!"

Thankfully the Preston family van hadn't been too far from the D-Corp facilities--or a freeway off-ramp--when Alan had caught Jenner on her cellphone. The faceless listened to the canned-sounding message with a scowl on her face, using the hand not occupied with holding the phone to cut across several lanes of traffic toward the nearest ramp. The GPS riding point on the dash on the passenger's side of the van beeped in protest, though it obediently shut off with Jenner jammed the phone between her shoulder and her ear and backhanded it into silence.

The voice on the other end of the line didn't seem very interested in explaining, continuing in the original vein: "--to negotiate. You won't be--"

Alerted by the noise from the front seat--not to mention the sudden violent change of direction--Indigo and Citrine looked up from the book they were reading. "Who wants who to what?" the velvet worm asked, antennae craning forward with interest.

Jenner snapped the phone shut as soon as Alan finished speaking, throwing it into the empty front seat before gripping the wheel in both hands. "Oh, nothin' serious, kiddo," she said, sending the van bumping over the median. Both kids in the back seat made exaggerated "oomf" noises, though Citrine's version was almost loud enough to deafen. "Just some fine fella from your school calling t'say they needed you back there. Pro'lly for classes or somethin' like that; I know you don't want to--"

"Is it a mission?" Indigo's antennae stood straight up and she leaned forward to stick her head between the two front seats--as if looking at the discarded cellphone would tell her more about what had happened. "Huh?! Izzit?"

"Uh," Jenner said, intelligently. Truthfully she hadn't really been paying all that much attention to the phone. She checked traffic briefly, before sending the van flying across another two lanes of traffic, over a curb, and into the D-Corp parking lot. The neatly trimmed flowerbeds escaped certain doom by scant inches. "Well, I think so, I mean, but if you don't really need t'go for your grade or anythin'--"

The van rebounded several inches off the pavement of the parking lot as Citrine launched herself out the side door, followed shortly by her (much lighter) partner. Jenner's teeth clicked shut on the rest of her reply, and she winced at the frisson of pain it sent through her jaw. "--a'right, you just g'wan an do that, then; I'll be back here in the car."

No longer in quite such a hurry, she backed the van into a parking space not far from where Nikiana (and her kids) were debarking. Rummaging under the seat, the faceless came up with a newspaper and a pack of smokes, unfolding the former and lighting up one of the latter before relaxing with one foot up on the dash and the window rolled down.

-----

It was hard to miss such a colorful assembly as the other kids and their dragons. Indigo and Citrine made a beeline for the group, the copper outpacing her partner considerably before realizing her mistake, doubling back, and lowering her head to propel the velvet worm along by way of headbutt. "(C)ome on, sstop being slow!"

"H-hey! You're the fatso who's always running around all over the place! Quit it!" Indigo said laughingly, reaching back to swat her dragon on the nose with one lower hand. Citrine nipped at the offending fingers before hauling up short as she noticed the other dragons in the group. Two reds and a black she'd met before, but there was Vorel, a gold, and a silver, two bronzes--AND a pair of greens. And others. Ugh. She snorted her displeasure, hanging back and narrowing her eyes thoughtfully.

Indigo had no such reservations, especially on noting how many of her friends were among the group of teens and preteens crowded around. "Hey guys!" she called. "...is this a mission? Mom didn't know."

Jingle Jingle.
A sound resembling dog tags clicking together was all that announced the silent approach of the scorpion boy as he exited the main D-Corp building. He shot a brief glance backwards, spying 247 watching him like a hawk from the door frame. He sighed a bit, straightened himself out, and worked his nervous and rather tiny self over towards the crowd in the parking lot. It had been at least a month, maybe two or three, since he had interacted with anyone outside of the D-Corp building, especially since he'd been put on watch and through a few weeks of quarantine and shots to make sure he wouldn't contaminate anything while he was under his new watch. His poor behavior in the foster homes had lead him into situation that held him under rather large restrictions.

He had certainly grown- not in height, but overall- since he had last seen ANY of these kids... Some of them he couldn't even recognize. He forced down a swallow, and stopped a foot or two away from the crowd, twiddling his extra legs. He seemed to relax after he found a few faces that he had once known rather well, and he even managed to fix an uncertain little smile on his face. His messy, fluffy hair was partially pulled back in a sloppy ponytail, and his thin and rather effeminate frame was tucked away beneath a pair of shorts and a baggy shirt with a neckline that drooped over to reveal one shoulder. At his throat was the dreaded collar- the device that his new paranoid caretaker had placed on him. He was barefoot, of course, as he preferred. He had bandage wrapped around his upper arms and a section of his right leg, and something that appeared similar to a hospital band at his right wrist. He clacked his claws nervously. "H-hi." He offered softly to anyone who paid him any mind.

He was busy oogling at the fact that most of the children who were younger than him were TALLER than him when his dragon made its entrance.

THUMP.

The ground shook slightly, not so much from Kei's weight as the terrible force of his landing. He rose himself up, his body having grown much larger in comparison to the scorpion boy. He let his placid crimson eyes run over the crowd, holding himself up in a rather cocky manner. He then released a snort, seeming to have no interest in going near the group. He actually walked a few feet away, sat himself down partially upright, and wrapped his tail around himself. He watched them in a rather condescending manner now, as if he were some god overlooking his people. Or even moreso, another god's people. He let out a rather lovely rumbling noise in his throat, and only Nero knew the noise as one of total contempt for something. Kei was most certainly being himself, Nero noticed. He had only grown worse with his size. He glanced towards his dragon partner and cringed slightly.
