NinetailedNightmare

Of course it was late. He wouldn't have been coaxed out otherwise. It was true that he could no longer see, but that didn't mean he'd lost his sense of feeling. Quite the opposite. The cool wind brushing across his wings spoke of a fast-fleeing dusk. Beneath the dark shades of the trees, the headless Feli was almost virtually invisible, moving with an ambling sort of grace. The great orange gourd upon his head was balanced precariously in place, grinning into the scenery as if oblivious to the danger. One false shift of muscle would send it flying.

Beside the Feli moved a dark mare, who watched over him much like a hawk does its nest-ridden young. Occasionally her red eyes swept the wood, but otherwise her attention was mainly on her companion. She was probably talking, too -she'd been doing that a lot ever since she'd found out he could hear- though he wasn't paying the words any particular mind at the moment.

She'd never been out quite so late as this. Franklin Gothic peeked her head up over the bushes, blinking her large, strange blue eyes. The black rimming them might have helped for camoflage, but the rest of her bodies brightness stood out like a flashlight even in the dead of night. Her companion snorted lightly, shaking her head. Frank winced a little as some of the blood ever dripping down Marebito's form splaced into her face, but kept her peace about it. It'd grown on her, and she'd never been one to complain--at least, to anyone but her mother.

The bloody female beside her dipped low instead, crawling under the bush and held back a few branches for the female following her. It'd taken a rather long "argument" to get her companion to come away from her bookshelves, but Mare had one in the end. A feral grin spread across her features, the blood bathed teeth inside a mute agreement with the rest of her body's decrepid state. It was a wonder any living feli could spend time with this one and keep their lunch, but Frank pulled it off rather wonderfully.

A third member of their expedition party skittered under their feet just as Frank was pulling herself free of the bushes' leaves. The green Pink eyed kit was by far the best camoflaged one of the bunch, being coated in deep greens. Only her eyes stood out in the dark, so long as she kept her ears folded down. Frank glared at her back, hissing softly, "Watch your step, child!"

Only a giggle came in response from the kit, who dashed straight into the small clearing they'd come upon, and was running about in the grass. Marebito shook her head; they'd intended to leave the mischevious child of doom at home with her equally annoying mother, but the kit had managed to escape--no hard feat as Gorbash was unbelievably scared of her own kit. To this day she believed that the children she'd born had stolen a part of her own soul--and follow them along the trail back to the feli house.

"Ignore her," The roll of a shrug flowed down Marebito's oozing back. It followed, then, that the kit would decide to jump upon it, between the wings. The female below her tensed up, going still instantly as the kit began to nibble childishly on the back of her neck. Beside the pair, Frank's nose wrinkled in disgust.

"Satan, stop that! You do not know where she has been!" Frank snorted, shaking her head at the sight and pressed on ahead.

"Some help you are," Marebito growled and shook her back, "Get off of me, you blighter! That bloody well hurts!"

"She's bloody well right, too!" Satan stuck her tongue out at Marebito and jumped off before the adult could force her from her body. "You taste nasty! What have you been doing, rolling in dirt?"

The glare the undead female produced seemed almost as if it could burst the kit into flames. She bristled and began to walk again, trailing after her so-called "Best friend." "I'm DEAD, what do you expect?"

"Well, so is the chicken we had for dinner and that tasted good." Satan replied amiably. Franklin turned from the head of the procession, raising a brow.

"You realize that trying to eat Mare counts towards cannibalism, do you not?"
User Image
There was no true answer for that, though the grin and amused noise that Satan produced didn't set any minds at ease. Having known both the girls mother and father--a pair more scary than any sight of Marebito or her old companions--Franklin didn't doubt the child could be telling the truth. She could, also, be trying to rile them and so the adult said nothing.

Up ahead, something moved in the darkness, causing Franklin to pause in the underbrush. "Frank?" Marebito asked after a moment, an obvious annoyed edge in her town. Franklin just tilted her head into the darkness, and Mare sighed. Pushing herself up around a tree to get beside the other adult, she let her own blood red eyes take in the surrounding area.

For a long moment the two simply stayed there, watching the shadow that was not a shadow move along. There was something rather large and bulbous perched upon its shoulders--too large for a regular head, and too disconnected to be a mere mask. At its flank, another shadow moved--horned and a slight bit larger than the first. Mare grinned after a moment, thinking she knew whom this stranger might be. "Ho there!" She called out, taking a few steps forward despite Frank's mute protest.

NinetailedNightmare
The headless Feli paused in his step at the voice, not quite sure whether it had been directed towards him or not. The mare would tell him, surely. Hessian would have liked to have turned his 'head' of sorts towards the cluster of females, really, but in stopping as suddenly as he did the pumpkin set upon his shoulders wobbled and fell. It might have been a strange sight for anyone not prepared for it- just a silhouette in the dark whose head happened to roll off just as it had been called to.

I know you... Thought the male to himself, moving for his head with a sort of routine motion.

"Who dares interrupts the horseman's ri- er, stroll!" Nightmare turned her head towards the source of the voice, doing her best to sound demanding. A dark mane was tossed over an equally dark pair of shoulders, not shy about flashing that horn. Hessian seemed to ignore her, pawing about for his substitute cranium while tilting his shoulders towards the group. "Well? Maybe if you leave quickly you'll be able to prolong your fate at his paws!" Practiced lines? Most likely.

The sight of the toppling head caused the two live feli to pause. One, for only a moment, however and soon the Kit had rushed forward to tackle the great pumpkin. "THIS IS SO COOL!" She laughed, then, tossing the head up to catch on top of hers. Well, in reality it didn't move and she simply butted the side of it--the pumpkin was much too heavy, even hollow, for a mere kit to toss about like a basket ball. "Can I have a head like this?" Satan asked no one in particular.

Marebito snorted, bloody eyes taking in the sight of the kit playing with her friend's head. With a deft paw, she took the pumpkin from the kit's paws and placed it back upon Hessian's desolate shoulders. "As much as your mother might like to try, I doubt your father would be so quick." She didn't know much about Nagumo, of course, but that she'd been told he had the brains his mate seemingly lacked. Wether or not this was saying much had yet to be made apparant to the bloody female. "Its okay, Nightmare, Its me." She took in the sight of the unicorn with a slight smile and nod of acknowledgement. "Should I bother asking what you two are doing about in the middle of the night, or can it be assumed?"

A slight noise from behind her caused Mare to turn, taking in the semi-frozen form of her best friend. Frank had stopped completely, still staring at the sight of the pumpkin-bearing feli male before her. Her strangely water-like eyes were wide with something akin to terror, an emotion that Marebito had come to think this feli was born without.

The child with them giggled, "Aunt Frank is scared!" She pranced about the darkling pair, coming up to Nightmare's side to sniff her. "You're neat, are you to be eaten?"

Marebito rolled her eyes. Of course, Satan wasn't to blame for her strange ideas. Gorbash's blood and treatment likely was, and so Marebito allowed Nightmare to take care of herself and instead stood to poke Frank's shoulder. "Frank, its okay, I know them."

"He's headless."

"Yes, dear, that rather goes with the territory, doesn't it?"

Frank moved then, turning her head to gaze at Marebito. It was then that Mare noticed Frank's use of contraction: a thing that Franklin never used. She would have gone slack jawed if it weren't for the fact that she, not counting Hessian, seemed to suddenly be the sole brains of the current feli standing about. Even then, would Hessian truly count as he technically had none himself?

"He's the headless horseman." Franklin continued, still staring at her friend. The blank expression on the pink feli's face was almost laughable. That she'd heard of the other feli was surprising, however, as Marebito had no idea Frank had met any of the other "undead" walking about.

"You seem to be suddenly gifted with a talent for the retoric."

"Suddenly, no, it is more that I am at wont to leave it untouched," Frank replied in that bizarre, unfeeling tone. Her eyes finally shifted back to the pumpkin-decked male in their presence. "The Headless Horseman himself, bane of Sleeping Hollow and Icabod Crane... at least, according to Human legend."

Marebito closed her eyes in annoyance. Now she knew what had happened: Frank and her blasted love of literature. "Oh blessed lords above and below," She groaned faintly.

NinetailedNightmare
The unicorn jumped slightly at the youngling's outburst, head rearing back momentarily in her surprise. Now she was running over and... No! No, don't do that to his head, you silly little--! But before the equine could make a move to rescue her companion's pumpkin, someone else did it for her. Hessian rocked blindly as it was set back in place, earth-shaded wings flaring out to keep him balanced for the moment. A slight hiss of what could be a scolding at not warning him previously was issued, before he seemed to get over it entirely. At least his head was back, and the weight felt right enough that it should be still in tact...

"Wait, what? Marebito!" The unicorn gave a soft nicker, relaxing somewhat. "So it is you. Hm.. I could ask you the same. It can be inferred that-" Again, the child. "It's rude to interrupt conversation." She informed Satan before tilting an invisible brow. "I most certainly am not!" A small flick of her tail was passed at the young female's nose.

The mare moved, drawing herself closer to her companion while unconsciously blocking most of the rest. Hessian made no protest, merely turning in the group's general direction. As his title began to be discussed, the male folded his wings cordially and slowly eased back onto his haunches. Mmm. Those good old days of snatching heads were passed. He no longer sported the proper equipment in which to do it with. A soft hiss that resounded up into the pumpkin suggested a sigh. Well, at least he hadn't been bombarded with strangers. Another undead feli like himself was here, which may or may not have helped his current disposition. He didn't seem to effected by it all. As to the question of his brains- he technically had none, yet something had to be substituting for it for him to be filled with all these thoughts. Really, when one thought about it, the fact that he was still moving around without his head was pretty unreal. If he could still move around and hear to a sense, then why couldn't he be intelligent to boot? What was a brain, anyway, other than a graying lump of flesh destined for eventual rot.

Nightmare cleared her throat slightly, gazing at Frank somewhat judgmentally. "He has a name now." She announced.

Marebito hadn't missed the scolding Nightmare had given Satan, and she allowed herself a little smirk about it despite her attention resting on her transfixed companion. Nightmare's voice broke in again, and she let her gaze wander to her. Her bearing was always so judgemental of those around the horseman, Marebito reflected, not that she minded. It made sense, what with the male himself being unable to speak his own mind--even though she was certain he could do just fine on his own if he was forced to it. Not disclosing any of these thoughts, she shook her head, "What is it, Nightmare? And don't mind Frank, she's just a little star struck, I think."

"I most certainly am not!" Franklin replied, but her voice lacked its usual snap. Marebito smirked, giving a slight, ill-sounding chuckle.

"I hate adults!" A voice in the back complained, drawing the bloody feli's eyes to their youngest companion. She'd plopped down as close as she could get to the Horseman, and was looking up at him as if conversing. "First they tell you not to do something, then turn around and do it themselves! Rude, rude RUDE!"

Before Marebito could do anything about it, the kit continued while standing upon her back paws to touch the Horseman's shoulder and sniff at his "head." "You're so cool! Is that you making tha whistling noise! Wow.. I wanna be just like you!"

User ImageFrankie took heavy steps away from the house, wanting to go back to the clearing where Obe had shown him the full moon a night or two before again, to see if he could spot the giant, glowing orb. Giant....Like him, maybe that was why he loved it so? Though he loved Obe as well, like a brother, even though he already had himself a few of those. "I wonder where my family is right now..." He boomed, trailing off sadly as he laid his ears back, flicking his tail as he continued on, his giant paws leaving small indents in the spongy floor of the damp forest. "But I bet they're happy at least." He said quietly, though for others, it wasn't so quiet, "I know I"m happy with my little friend, Obe." He added, smiling to himself and perking up a little. A friend....that was like the same as family, but maybe even better. Obe had been so kind to him. He cared, and Frankie knew that.

Lifting his head, he perked his large, green and black ears, thinking that he'd heard the faint whinny of a horse not far off. Though the giant green Feli just shook his head and shoo'd the thought away. "Couldn't be." He mumbled, flickering his wings momentarily, adjusting not only them, but also the purple coat that he wore.

( I'm sorry if it's a horrible place to hop in you guys, but I didn't really see much else I could do, since Frankie really wouldn't be one to just stroll into the conversation unless someone noticed him first ^^ )

NinetailedNightmare
"Well, it's..." She looked briefly at the horseman and the young feli padding around him. Yes, she was rather protective of him despite his lack of gratefulness. Sure, he could probably get along just fine without her, bumping into trees and potentially walking off cliffs, but what sort of 'horse'man would he be if not for her? He totally needed her... even if he might be able to stumble his way to a safe place. "Hessian."

Hessian didn't turn his head towards Satan or make a motion to acknowledge her, though he was most likely listening.

Strange, he noted, flicking his devilish tail quietly. However, at the feeling of paws against his chest, Hessian was forced to somewhat respond and ground his weight so he wouldn't go toppling over. As if to humor her, a slow hissing was made in the Feli's invisible neck. "Hsssshkadiilssshlk...."

It's inconvinient. He grumped to himself, shifting his shoulder to perhaps jar her off. Instead, that great head barreled forward, probably hitting the younger feli in the head before it hit the ground and to began to roll at an accelerate pace. Nightmare whinnied in alarm at it, almost bolting after it before pausing.

"Make sure he doesn't wander off, Marebito." Nightmare said hastily before making a speedy pursuit after it. The pumpkin rolled and rolled, continuing down a slope of the woods. Nightmare barely managed to catch it with her hoof before it slammed into a rather sturdy-looking log.

Meanwhile, Hessian shifted somewhat, rising to his feet in a smooth gesture of muscle. The undead feli skirted slowly around the child, striding slowly but surely towards Franklin and Marebito. The coat he wore cleverly hid the nub where his neck had been severed, but it was still a hard fact to miss... especially when the headless horseman was walking towards you. Not that Marebito had a problem -she was family- but Franklin...?

Nightmare blinked at the shadow of something large moving through the forrest ahead, blinking in the darkness. There was only one feli-like creature she knew to be that big... "Frankie? Is that you, dear?"

"OW!" Satain yelped as the pumkin it her. Both of her paws clutched to her forehead as she took teetering steps backward to collapse on the ground with a groan. Of course, she wasn't really all that hurt--just pretending. Marebito could see that right off, having a keen sense for death and blood for rather obvious reasons, and thus ignored the kits plight. She expected Frankie to say something about it, but the other didn't seem to notice in the least.

Marebito nodded to Nightmare as she ran off. Satan was likely to get it when the horse made it back, though it was really more of Hessian's fault for tipping his head like that in the first place. Still, the kit shouldn't have been bothering the male. Now, the headless feli was headed towards the two girls and Marebito smirked. He didn't have to be able to speak for it to be obvious what he was doing. She let her eyes turn to watch the other female, expecting her to cower.

Only, Franklin didn't. Her eyes grew a little wider at first, watching the male walk around like that. Then, and only then, did the most shocking thing happen. Frank's eyes slowly lidded, but not in a glare. Her chin tipped downward, meekly and she scooted back with the faintest glowing of pink on her cheeks. Marebito bit back the urge to laugh, though it was a hard thing to hold in. The sight of Franklin like this--a star struck, worshiping teenager--was enough to make hell freeze over.

"G-goodevening.. s-sir.." Apparantly Franklin was realizing her own folly, for the blush grew stronger upon her pink cheeks and she cleared her throat. She still squeaked when she spoke next, and ducked her head again, "Sorry about your head."

Marebito couldn't help it then--her laughter bounced off the trees and sent blood splattering onto anything in front of her, but she didn't care. She laughed until her sides litterally bled, and blood streamed from her eyes in place of tears. Oh how the mighty had fallen! The normally arrogant, waspish, silver tongued shrew was completely dumbstruck--it was just too rich!

NinetailedNightmare
The kit was ignored for the moment- the child wasn't even likely to get a concussion from being hit that close. Sure, it might have been his fault. He didn't mean to do it, though, and he really wasn't capable of apologizing for himself anyway. He continued to move towards Franklin, using her shaky voice as a guide so that he wouldn't run into her. He stopped a few feet from her, his stance quite a firm one despite the fact he was blind.

As the pink one spoke, Hessian gripped the dirt beneath his paws. Hm.. Suitable. One paw reached out in the space between them, sweeping aside the dirt and smoothing it down. One claw etched deep furrows into the dirt blindly, slowly scrawling out a shaky message:

G R E E T I N G S

He turned his shoulders at Marebito's laughter, tail whipping side to side slowly. Amusement? Perhaps.

User Image"Nightmare?" Frankie boomed through the darkness, his suken yellow eyes picking her out easily, and not far behind, Hessian....and others? Odd, he'd never really know Hessian to be much for interaction, that it wasn't so weird. Everyond needed to make some friends outside the family, and there had been no doubt that they all would, now that they were all staying here at the house. He sniffed the air carefully, and then fluttered his giant wings a little. "And Marebito as well?" He added with a grin. He loved his brother and sister dearly, and it was a treat to see them both together in the same night. "Hello sister!" He called in the general direction of his blood-covered sibling. He lifted a paw and pulled at the collar of his coat momentarily and then looked about again. A kit and another feli, seeming fascinated by Hessian.

Kisoni
"Greetings." Frank stared at the word written in front of her, the blush not abating from her cheeks. Distantly she was aware of her own annoyance with the laughing female beside her, but she ignored that in order to stutter, "H-how'd'you do.." in the smallest of voices. It was then that the giant emerged from the side of woods that Nightmare had run down, and Franklin's attention was drawn upward. Her eyes widened again at the sight of yet another book legend, and her legs began to wobble.

THe sight of her friend so obviously torn only caused more giggled and gawfs to pass through Marebito's blood splattered lips. Trying to get control of herself, she looked up at Franklin through the bloody tears. "H-hello b-b-brother-ahhahhahaahahaaa!" A few more giggles and attempts to hold herself in, and Franklin thought she might be done. She gave a shakey little sigh and wiped her face with her equally bloody paw. "Oh lord.. .. Franklin you.. heee, i cant even say it.."

Shaking her head, Marebito turned instead towards her giant of a "Brother" and nodded her head, "its good to see you, Frank."

NinetailedNightmare
((I'll fetch his color in a bit))

"Frankie, it is you!" Nightmare grinned, lightly nudging the pumpkin along as she followed him back to the group. "Yes, there's quite a collection of us tonight. Marebito brought a few of her..." For a moment, the mare was confused with what she would refer to them as. She'd push it on Mare instead. "Who are they, Marebito? Friends of yours?" She weaved her way around the group. "Here's your head, Hessian. Frankie's decided to join us."

A soft hiss of acknowledgment escaped the headless one and, as soon as his head had been situated, he turned gradually towards his large sibling. "Hssshhheeehtthhhfrrraaassshhiii..." Um. Hello? For the moment, Franklin was disregarded.

Frankie chuckled softly, "Friends...?" He inquired, laying his large ears back as they came closer to the supposed friends of Marebito's. "Hmmmmph." He said quietly, falling to his haunches, causing a thumping noise, and a more than slight shaking of the ground around him. He adjusted his wings again as he settled himself in, quirking a brow at the pink female with the bright blue eyes, trying to decide if she should be staring at him or Hessian. "Excuse me, is there something i can help you with?" Frankie rumbled, looking at Hessian as Nightmare tenderly re-placed his head. "Hello to you as well brother....it's nice to see you again." He boomed kindly, shuffling a little and then placing a giant paw on Hessian's shoulder gently for a moment, before lifting it higher to scratch beneath one of his bolts, then letting it fall back to the ground, feeling the moist ground sag beneath it's weight. "My, my. It's so hard for me not to be rude here, with so many conversations going on." He chuckled softly, though to the others it was no doubt anything but softly. The green colored giant layed himself down, so he could be more at eye level with the others, and then smiled a little at the kit, who had yet to speak in his presence.
