Prologue
Aang lay in complete darkness. All that he knew was that he was cold. What happened? All I know is that I was in the Avatar State, and I was about to wipe out the Di Lei. Than the Form of the Avatar Spirit, (which he saw in his mind's eye) fell and disappeared.
Suddenly there was a blast of light and color than momentarilly blinded Aang. Aang could feel his senses returning to him. Warmth flooded into his body, and hearing returned to him as well. Aang could hear a distant, faint musical rythm.
"Aang, Aang. Can you hear me?" Called a faint voice.
"Yes. I can hear you. Where are you? Who are you?" Aang calls back.
A figure began to fade-in before Aang.
"Avatar Roku!! I am so glad to see you! I was worried that something may have happened to you after the Avatar Spirit disappeared." Aang exclaimed.
"Aang, I am weak. All of your past lives are weak from the incident." Roku says, his voice still weak.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Aang says, fear in his voice.
"No, it will take some time for us to get our strength back up. Until that time you will not...." Roku's voice wavers "be able to go into the Avatar State."
"What! How will I be able to beat the Fire Lord with out the Avatar State?" Aang says, doubt in his voice.
"We should have our strength back by the end of the summer. But if we don't it will mean that you will have to rely more on your friends to protect you." Roku says. His voice growing fainter.
Roku starts to fade out into nothingness once again.
"Wait, I still have questions." Aang calls.
"I cannot, for I am to weak. Aang, you must learn firebending. It will be your best weapon again the Fire Lord if you cannot use the Avatar State by that time. Good luck Aang." Avatar Roku calls.
The light and color disappear, and Aang is thrust back into the numbing cold. Great, now what.
Chapter One
Awakening
Aang woke up to see the whole group gathered around him. All of their faces looked concerned, even Toph's, which ment a lot.
"Aang? How do you feel? Do you need anything?" Katara asks. Her voice sounds hoarse, like she hadn't slept in days.
"How long have I been out? Where are we?" Aang says sitting up, but not without help from Sokka.
"You've been out cold for a week now. We were worried that you would never wake up. Toph says. From the looks of her, she had also been awake for a long time. Her eyes had bags, her clothes looked like they haven't been washed for a long time, and she smelt like it too.
It was mid-afternoon, the sun was just past the center of the sky. They were in a forest of some kind, the birds were singing.
"What!! A week?!" Aang exclaimed, bolting up.
"Yes. We have been on the move ever since Ba Sing Se, there has been no places that we could stay for more than a few hours. We only stopped now because you started moving and making noises." Sokka said from behind Aang.
"We need to get moving again then right?" Aang asks, already heading back to Appa.
Momo landed on Aang's shoulder, japping happily at Aang. Appa was also happy to see in dear friend up and walking again.
"I have missed you guys too." Aang says, stepping up to Appa, rubbing him and scratching Momo's ear. "Are we ready to leave?
Suddenly the ground starts to rumble. Through the trees burst a band of rhinos, on them are the firebenders that have chased them ever since Aang destroyed the giant drill.
"Your not going anywhere! The leader says.
