We all know that Vincent fell for her like the romantic tonne of bricks that he is. But was there actually any feelings coming the other way, besides guilt over Grimoire "best name ever" Valentine's death? Did it start off as guilt and turn to something 'better'?
I ask because I was writing some random fic at work today (Vincent emoing after seeing Lucrecia and Hojo together... I love angst) and Vincent's thoughts sort of poured onto the paper, as they do. His doubt over her feelings came to mind.
Having not played FF7 itself in a long time (at least, not any of the bits with Vincent backstory) I'm not sure where it stands... and I'm being lazy in not reading the scripts *is watching anime razz * I always thought the feelings were mutual, they were just both as stupid as each other about showing them. But playing, and thinking about, DoC I can see an argument against her actually loving him.
Does she ever say it? Or only imply it? Was it just a lie to make him, and thus her, feel better?
Am I going to squashed by fan-girls? Am I feeding the Vincent/Yuffie flames? I open it up to you lot...

To me, I don't think Lucrecia had it in her heart to love Vincent. I mean, I'm sure she really does care for him, but I think the guilt was too overwhelming for her to actually think about if she loved him. In DoC when Vincent was in that dream sequence and Lucrecia spoke with him, she said that she realized her own feelings...but I wasn't sure if it was romantic or not. She didn't directly tell her feelings....so yeah. It's my opinion anyway.

I think that her feelings are romantic, but she can't bring herself to face him after stripping away his humanity.

And before anyone else throws it in; Vincent is not Sephiroth's father. Hiro Tenshi I hope Lucrecia loved Vincent, they are so right for each other Are they? Vincent may be the son of a scientist but he's not exactly a deep thinker... unless you count brooding. Lucrecia had a powerful mind. Were they really that compatible? Can you imagine the conversation on long winter nights by the fire? Lucrecia talking about her theories and Vincent just blanking while he polishes his gun.

I'm talking about Dirge of Cerbeus. That's the game I've played, I have yet to start FF7 itself.

It seems odd that you'd make such a big mistake. I suppose it could be made if you had not seen all the FMV's in DoC (where he and Lucrecia are together, where he argues with her and Hojo, ETC) and not played FF7.
