[[There will only be 5 main characters besides myself. However, there will be many other roles open, so if you're not aiming for the 5 or it is already filled up, still read on so you know the story and setup of this rp]]

Science and technology can only advance so far before it ends up being used for an atrocious event. The atomic bomb is a clear example of such a horrendous use of technology. However sometimes it is less clear than that. Take the assembly line for an example. It was made to assemble things at a fast pace, but what did it become eventually used for? A quick way to make many guns, and other deadly devices. It seems sort of fitting that the thing we seek to improve our lives, could very well be the thing that that dooms us.

In the year 2316, an (FDA) approved chemical was released that could kill weeds instantly, and was conveniently spread by air so it could proficiently eradicate all of the weeds within the area. This quick and efficient way of killing these pesky weeds made it become a necessity for every land owner. However, one day, this fruitful item soon threatened the very existence of human kind.

Some say it was released on purpose, others say a canister of it must of mutated, but whatever it was, a new virus was released onto the world. Instead of just seeking weeds, this virus now sought after all plant life. Quickly vegetation everywhere became threatened and eradicated as the winds pushed this virus further and further. The original virus was created to feed on weeds only, and would stop after it had feasted on all that was in the area. Now that it was no longer dependent on just weeds to feed upon, it could travel effortlessly from one place to another, wherever there was grass, trees, plants, crops, anything of plant life, it could continue to strive.

Everywhere it went, it destroyed the plant life, leaving the earth barren. Without trees, animals started to die, rivers eroded the land, winds became stronger, and the air became more polluted. Natural disasters struck cites one after another, leaving them no time to rebuild.

As it spread, governments everywhere issued quarantine on plant life, to preserve it for when the virus stopped. Only a few cities, mainly small towns, were able to do just that, but it was not enough to feed the whole world. With the virus still in the air, feeding off what remained, those lucky few cities could not even support themselves from starvation.

Across the world, countries banded together in a desperate act, and built several cities on top of metal pillars that made them high above the ground, far enough in the sky to get above the pollution, and above the infertile air. They used this as their haven, and with their stored seeds, they produced crops and other stuff among their cities.

Other cities did not fair so well though, and the face of starvation became too great. Some resorted to feasting on the dead, making them severally sick. Still, it kept them alive, and they soon found many excuses to not just eat dead people, but old people, outsiders, and gave them reasons to act violent, bringing them back to almost animal like behavior. Here, only the strong survive. Oddly enough some of these cities actually contained the quarantined plant life. Yet, it would take 20 years before the earth would be able to become fertile once again.

Time passed, the promises of living on earth once again became merely distant whispers as people that lived in the cities above forget all about living on earth, and held to the skies for their hope and dreams. Soon aviation became an essential part to many, but ships were limited due to the lack of raw material to use for it. Although they now created slums under these cities in the sky, to mine under ground for more supplies, it is never enough, and so acceptance into flight school is limited. Only 5 students each year are ever accepted. They must spend several weeks together in intense training courses, and if they pass the test, they are not only guaranteed a ship, but allowed to reach towards whatever their goals and ambitions are. For they will be the ones who can reach off the grounds, and touch the skies with their wings. Whatever is in their heart, can become their reality.

So will you be one of these 5?

Rules

This will be a slow moving epic rp for the 5 main characters. Meaning it will take quite a while for the plot to advance, but the time you spend will be rather enjoyable as well as memorable. Only those who are dedicated should consider taking up these spots (if you don't want these spots, there are other positions available, will be explained in other post). Everyone has the below rules to follow, but those who take this spot have an additional one. Your character may end up turning into a premade for someone else to use. Wait what? Don't be alarmed, this will only happen if you break the rules (you'll be given a warning, all except for the gaian rule, for my side note is your first warning). You are replaceable. It does sound harsh, and I hope being in a literate group, it will not come to that, but I will not allow rule breakers hurt the experience of other people. This place is for your enjoyment, so make it enjoyable. Secondly, since I am the Captain of this guild, I have to set example for rest of the rps. So I may be a bit stricter on things than other GM's. This does not mean it won't be enjoyable, actually I hope for the opposite. I hope by following these rules, you'll end up having a positive environment and grow from this experience.

Gaia's Rule
#1 Follow the ToS, if you do not know what it is, read up on it. [[Violates will be banned and if severe enough, will be reported as well. You've been warned.]]

My rules
#1 No Auto hitting
#2 No Godmodding
#3 Shouldn't see under 5 lines of post too often.
#4 For those 5 main, long duration of absence should be reported. [[there will be a vacation thread for everyone]]
#5 Not omnipresent, meaning you cant be everywhere at once. I'll be stricter on the main 5 on this.
#6 RPC's ICs can be as mean as you want them to be (as long as it is realistic to them) but OOC follow the golden rule, er, at least try to be civil.

If you break my rules, I am not as harsh as I am on the ToS violators. First time offense, I will get on to you about it, either let you edit your own post, or edit it for you (believe me, if you make me edit it for you, I'll probably screw you over). Second time offense, I will remove your 'wings' temporarily, and stick you in the school rp [probably 2-3 day course] to brush up on what you are doing wrong. Third time, your rpc will become a pre-made, you will be replaced by another applicant, and sent to the school for further examination. Pretty much you'll be treated like the trial membership people. 2 weeks course. Ban on failure.

So I know my punishment may seem strange, but as I said before, I am here to set an example. I am hoping this method of punishment for violators will not detour you from rp'ing, but to actually enforce positive measurement to see you improve.

Final rule, have fun! ^_^

Setup

As I said, it will be slow moving, mainly during the beginning. I am hoping the first part will be character development so there will be limited areas to explore. I will give you free range of exploration within the boundaries set before you though. Meaning you're in a big bird cage but you're still in a bird cage. In laymen term, you will be able to explore/create areas within the thread you're in, but only as long as it is related to that thread. For example, if the thread is about a small run down inn, I don't want to see 500 hundred rooms, bars, shopping malls, and all of this other random stuff inside of it. It is a run down inn, run with what you have, don't go too overboard. We're aiming for realism, with creativity. For an example, at the aviation school you will not find a movie theater, but it could have a projection screen inside of a classroom, and if you mess with the tech booth, you could play some movies. However, I'd be careful of the teacher catching you... I don't know if he'd be too happy you messing with his stuff. That is an example of creativity within realism. Have fun with it. I'll be pretty lenient on this, but if you go too overboard, I'll treat it as Godmodding. THIS SHOULD NEVER BECOME A PROBLEM THOUGH. If you really want to explore beyond the bounds of what is set up.. lets say you want to explore for a different inn, and look for a hotel instead. Or you don't like the bar that is set up, and want to find a nice cozy restaurant. Well, there will be a thread that called [[Exploration]]. How to explore will be explained in its first post. So if you're really in an exploring mood, go there. As it advances, you can start exploring quite a lot, and get good success. I hope this keeps it quite adventurous and fresh for everyone.

Note, there will be bars and other areas to explore as you adventure on. Those who did not make the 5 slots, can instead manage the bar, as well as fill in many other roles. I'll keep a thread called [[Employment outlook]], where you can get a job and work, and lol, yes I'll make bar hopping as a job as well (they'll be lots of positions for that...okay that was a joke, hope you caught it ^_^). I am hoping to have it like a commerce thread. People come in there, share their own stories, have fun, visit other bars, other areas, work, and lead their own lives. I am hoping this will create the rp environment more like a real world for the 5 people to explore into.

Even if the 5 don't visit the bars, they will have life of their own, each bar will be like a mini rp. The people in these bars can only visit areas that are explored. If they are needing to go somewhere that isn't explored yet, you can merely mention where they're going, have them disappear for a while, and have them show up in a thread that is already establish, and they can discuss what they did and what not. Sorry for the limitations, but I want the 5 main characters be the only ones to have the explore option so it'd be less for me to handle. Don't worry though, there will be quite a lot of places opening up. I'll have a [[Suggestion thread]] that you can suggest areas that they (main 5) might stumble into. Perhaps they might even stumble into it as you explore your own story, allowing you to lead the rp itself for a while.

Having a commerce world within an rp world may make it hard to advance through story plot, but what I want is an rp that will take time, so characters can develop themselves as they go. As time presents itself, and I think it is ready to move to the next level in the plot, I will create Events.

Events will be how I drive the story in a direction, note even those who are not the main 5 will be effected by these events. I will have an [[Event] thread as an announcement. When you see a new post in there, go in there immediately. Some events might not even affect you other than just giving you something different to talk about. While some... might be potentially deadly to your character. Note, those who are not main characters can have multiple characters because sometimes an event may cause you to lose a character. (you get to decide how big the event effects your character, and yes you can choose to have them die, mortally wounded, or other stuff, I would actually prefer you to) Don't worry though it won't happen often, or may never happen at all, I just want to keep my options open.

Final note, there may be more to the setup every so often, I'll have an [[update]] section that is only used for when I have an...update on the setup. (go figure XD)

I hope the current set up I have will allow for maximum enjoyment. I will have a suggestion thread as well, that you can feel free to post any thing you wish to see done. Have a great day and happy playing.

Additional Information

There will be advantages to both, the main and non main, as well as a dependency.

Main:They will get the beef of the story and plot, and their actions actually shape how this world turns out to be. A lot of the focus will be on them, but because of this, I have stricter rules for them, and they have to be dedicated more to the rp.

Non-Main: They will be focused on character, each character has their own story to tell, and they can bring it up and about around each other. They have the greatest amount of freedom, able to interact with anyone, and can get up and leave anytime they want to. They still have to be realistic to a sense, and they can interact with the rps anytime they want to but they have their own lives to attend to.

Dependency: Non-main actually require the main to explore. They can't go off and create areas that aren't there. They can merely talk about it. So in a sense the non-main are free but tied to the plot and need the mains to push the plot onward.

In addition, the main require the non just as well to move the plot. Sometimes I will release events that only nons hear about, where as the main would then have to get the information from the nons. However, it is completely up to the nons if they want to release it or not. After all it is a realistic world. You can't go up to someone and say, hey heard any events? I mean you can ask them about the news, and if they want they can say, "go buy a newspaper" or something along those lines. The non's can be as helpful or misleading as they want to be. I am putting faith in the mains to not use OOC knowledge. If you know you're getting mislead ooc, you're still going to have to get mislead no matter how much you may hate it. Sometimes you might actually like it, as it will push you into different unexpected situations.

Finally I have a dependency on you all, but it is more of a circle effect. As long as you guys are enjoying it, I'll keep adding on new stuff, but I am sure as long as I keep adding on new stuff and keeping it fresh you'll be enjoying it. So in laymen's term, just keep the circle going, enjoy yourself ^_^.

Last tidbit of information is don't think because of the vastness of this rp I am hoping for, that you can get away with stuff. Your fellow RP'ers, crew members, and I will be watching you. *creepy voice "Big brother is watching you"* So you won't be able to break the rules.
