I know this is an old thread, but how's the aftermarket on one of those? I've never really seen modded Corollas driving around.

there aren't many parts for the new 9th generation corollas so far, the best you can get are turbo/superchargers,intakes,and exhausts and a few lil parts, not many companys supply corolla parts for racing.the modded ones are either nice or ugly depending on the person, lol. I've seen some prepped for time attacks and even drifting, and they performed really well, the AE86 is one of the popular cars for drifting, and the AE102(is it?) and the new rolla's are usually used for circuit, drag, and time attach due to it being faster at cornering and accelerating. this is cuz of the weight on the front tires which is what does the moving and turning. Its true that there are't many modded Rollas passing around, most of them are in the west and east coast, there are also 9th gen. Corolla clubs. I live in New Orleans,La so sadly there isn't one here, there are NHRA members and they have meets every saturday. They also bring they're sick a** toys! I want to start the tuner meet, so I'm working on my corolla

My mom has a 9th gen CE. Or is it an LE?
I was surprised by how quick it was, that DOHC and VVT really does it's job.
You could probably do well by stripping out most of the interior, dropping it, and doing some head work. Plus the requisite I/H/E.
If you're looking for real control, there are manual transmissions available for those cars. They're extremely rare, but you can find one and swap it in if you wanted.

FF cars are quick, i think its cuz of the engine weight on the driving wheels. Damn man. . .i saw a Rolla. . .and took a good look, IT WAS AN XRS model, i was like HOLY ********. . .where did he get that in Louisiana. . . I want that VVTL-I, 170HP man. . .i can do some really good things to that lol, i've been planning on stealing the K20 out of my friends RSX-S

Let me know if you want me to find you the link, but I've read instructions for building an AEM style cold-air intake online somewhere, I know I can find it if you want.
When it was tested, it actually stayed cooler than the original AEM intake. Should serve you better than a short ram, at any rate.
Dual exhausts look cool, but really won't give you any benefit over a single as long as you're running an NA 4-cylinder. In fact, you might lose exhaust velocity, which would make it worse than performance single exhaust.
If you're planning on boost in the future, that's another story. ;]

I think I'll run a NA for now, its costly to build an all motor engine, but the response is sharp and the sound is crisp. definitly different from a super/turbo charged motor. eh. . .thnx for the warning, lol, i think I'll kill the dual idea, lmao. I'm planning on getting a supercharger from Turbonetics, but the all motor idea is very tempting. but thats still a ways to go,lol

I think you have a decent motor to start out with. If you get your suspension and find a good header, high-flow cat, and exhaust system that'll get you started (If you can't find a good-enough exhaust system, buy some exhaust piping from JCWhitney and get an exhaust shop to weld one together for you.)
You can make the intake I told you about if you want, or here's an idea. There's some people on the inside of the Honda scene who make ITB setups from motorcycle intakes for their cars. I bet it wouldn't be any harder to do it for a Toyota.
It would be quite an undertaking to get that thing tuned, but you'd probably get about a 30HP increase.

It might be a cheap mod, but it's not exactly a small one. Unless you're ready to reprogram your ECU I'd hold off until you did some research.

well. now i know that a s/r intake and a custom exaust wont void my warranty unless its illegal. Now that I know, I'm tempted to mod my car to drive sooo fast, my paint will strip.lol. TRD doesn't supply S/R intake he says. . .my friends Celica has one, its the 6th gen, the big boy of the celicas XD.

I dont have the cash for a tranny conversion right now. i crave a standard though. My friends got the new 6 speed manual accord with the V-Tec. its balls fast

6-speed, eh? The only Accord with that available is the V6. And yeah, they're bloody fast.
Just keep your eyes open, you'll find a cheap gearbox eventually.
