The white youngster crawled out of the den, his reddish brown eyes blinking as they tried to adjust to the bright light. He hadn't gone wandering much since he was born, he liked to keep inside by his mothers side because at least then he knew he was safe. He was a vulnerable little thing who didn't like the idea of fighting and would avoid it, like his mother somewhat in that aspect. He adored his family and it was them that he wanted to see.
He knew that his mother had a brother and his father had a brother too but he had heard that his mothers brother had cubs too and he wanted to see these cousins of his and play with them. He might be a firekin but he was still a cub and he still wanted to play.
He left the entrance of the den and moved to another den entrance, keeping back a little he sniffed and moved to the next one. His theory was that his cousins would at least smell like him and his siblings a little and that would be how he found them.

A decent theory from one so young, perhaps one that could have worked were the litter the white cub sought truly related by blood. But unlike his 'cousin', or the whole of the firekin pride, the firery red cub knew better. He had learned the truth from the white stranger they had encountered some time ago, and unlike his brother, Hiashi'Ikusa was clever enough to conclude the truth for himself, a truth that had been confirmed later by his mother. And as he had sworn to his mother that day, Ashi had kept that truth to himself, never speaking of it to another creature. With unshakeable loyalty to the dark lioness that had borne him, Ashi had kept that secret, allowing others to believe the male who shared their den was in fact his father. It was a secret he would always keep, until the day when they would finally meet that stranger again in the land far to the north.
But for now, life remained unchanged, the hot sun seeing the red cub reclining in the shade of a rock outside the den he shared with his mother, 'father', and four siblings. Between his forepaws rested a marrow filled bone, a snack he had cleverly hidden away from the last meal his mother brought home, and a small smirk crossed his maw as he thought of the pleading eyes of his hungry siblings when they begged mother for food.
He didn't seem to notice the small white form that approached him, or perhaps he was simply uninterested. Or perhaps he was simply more interested in the bone he grasped between his paws, and the satisfying crunch that echoed in his ears as small fangs broke through the calcium to the marrow beneath.

The crunching of the bone got the males attention and his ears pricked up as he turned to see the very red cub. He didn't look anything like his mother of grandfather but then he hadn't ever seen his uncle so maybe he did look a little like him. Then again the white cub also didn't know what his uncles mate looked like either.
"Hey!" He called out, his head tilting a little as he looked at the cub some more. Maybe the cub was just another cub and not related, either way Intuthu wasn't really bothered, he wanted a friend or an ally in the pride he believed it would come in some what handy one day.
"I am Intuthu." He introduced himself as he had been taught to by his mother. His voice sounded cub like, it was clear that he was young and not the most intelligent lion around. It even sounded slightly playful.

Dark ears flicked, a shifting of his eyes the only indication that he had heard the calling voice. His posture remained unchanged save for the raising of his head and the movement of his jaws as he devoured a small chunk of his bone, savoring the taste of the marrow within, his young body relishing the nourishment.
Moments passed, Ashi silently watched the white cub from the corner of his eye. He might have felt annoyed were he capable of such an emotion, he was after all in the middle of a meal, a meal that others might think they could steal by taking advantage of his smaller size, a point they would find themselves mistaken on.
Finally his head turned, cold, emotionless eyes at last falling on the white cub in acknowledgement.
"Are you lost or something?"

The cub shook his head. "I'm not lost. This I think is near my uncles den, I am looking for my cousins, mother said they would be around somewhere. Maybe they are lost." The youngster sat down, maybe a stupid move but he wasn't a fighter and still had a lot to learn about life and the pride.
He was a little confused at why the other cub didn't say hello or say what his name was, that just seemed somewhat odd. Intuthu would learn it all in time but for now he was happy being naive.
"Whats your name?" He wanted to know then he might ask about his uncle.

His tail flicked, tufted tip dancing over the desert sands. Again he was silent, one paw curling around the bone he held, not so much out of possessiveness as much as an instinct to flex the limb and the talons within. Red eyes held an odd gaze, cold yet firery, perhaps the gaze of a future assassin.
The red cub failed to see why he should need such information from the other. It seemed the white creature was the type to spill his life story, and any other useless information he held, at the slightest provocation. And perhaps, that meant he was easily manipulated as well.
A smirk spread across Ashi's maw, his interest piqued.
"I am Hiashi'Ikusa, my mother is Azula."
He did not mention the name of his 'father', for it was his mother who held his loyalty.

"Azula?" He had heard that name before, maybe it was his mother who had mentioned it. He looked a little confused for a while and then decided he must have heard it from one of his parents, who else would he have heard it from?
"Is your father Tamu? See he is my uncle and I want to meet my cousins!" He protested, though there wasn't much reason to protest. Why wouldn't the cub tell him who his father was? Silly cub.
Intuthu would be an easy cub to manipulate, his mind was pure and naive as a newborn cubs would be. He had managed to avoid all the lessons his mother had been giving though always got severely told off afterwards. The lessons were just boring and other things were more interesting!

The red cub rose to his paws, stretching his young limbs with a flick of his tail, his treasure guarded behind small yet menacing talons. His posture was not especially threatening, he had no reason to be so; but it was eerily cool, unnerving as the shadows that haunt the land in darkness, cold as the night wind. Ashi was an enigma, unreadable, emotionless, unpredictable, traits that would one day make him far more dangerous than even the asp that roamed the land in silence.
"I believe that is the name of the male who shares our den, therefore I suppose that makes us cousins."
His voice was matter-of-fact, his words unflinching, no hint or indication of the truth he knew or that there was even any truth to know.

The male looked suddenly very happy, he was an odd cub, he had many traits from his grandfather that his mother wanted to squash out of him but for now he was easily excitable and rather naive and stupid.
"Your my cousin? Cool! Do you have loads of siblings? Mother won't tell me much which is why I came looking for you all. She said I had cousins so I am guessing you have at least one sibling." He was rambling, something else his mother wished to squash out of him.

Tail twitching, Ashi turned his back on the white cub, again taking the treasured bone in his maw. With grim satisfaction small fangs crushed through the hard shell, relishing the savory marrow within.
"I have, four of them to be exact."
With so many siblings, the den quickly became uncomfortably crowded, echoing with the cries of so many demanding to be heard. It was often to escape the commotion that he left the den, though more often his search for information, the quest that would one day lead him on his destined path.
But today his motivation had been far simpler, he was hungry and desired the snack he had stored away for such a time, a snack he was unwilling to share with another, especially not his siblings.

Four? Well he had five, all boys apart from his sister and she wasn't much of a girl.
"I have five siblings, four brothers and a sister." He gave the information even though the other cub hadn't asked for it. He wasn't bothered whether or not the information was needed. He had a lot to learn.
"You gonna share that?" He was talking about the bone. He always shared with his siblings something his mother didn't mind so much but if she knew what he was asking now he would be clipped around the head. "You can't want all of that!" He was probably wrong but either way even if he ended up in some sort of fight it would do him more good then bad in the end.

Ashi was no longer paying attention to the white cub, his eyes occupied elsewhere. He really couldn't have cared less about Intuthu's many siblings or the life story that the white cub seemed so intent on telling.
There was a crunch of bone punctuated by a lash of his tail, red eyes narrowed in a silent warning. When he spoke, his voice was calm, cold; it was not threatening, but it was unyielding.
"No, I'm not."
What a stupid question. Why would he have gone to all the trouble of hiding the bone, or bothered leaving the den, if he had intended to share it. This treasure was his, Ashi intended to eat it himself, and if he didn't, then he'd hide what was left for another time.

He stared at the cub and narrowed his eyes a little.
"Well thats just not fair." He then decided to try and jump onto the rock that the other cub was sitting on. Intuthu stupidly thought that he would be able to teach the other cub how to share. After all they were family! So with his claws out to grab hold of something he leapt up to where the other cub guarded his bone. He had to learn to share!

"And your point is?"
Why should he care what his self-appointed cousin thought was fair? It's not fair, it's not fair, everything is not fair to someone, and if the white cub didn't learn that, he'd be in for a lifetime of disappointment.
There was no flinch, no growl or warning. Hiashi'ikusa simple raised one paw, small talons bared for the strike. He didn't give the other time to approach closer or to react, bringing his paw down in a malevolent strike.
"Back off."

"OWW!"
He jumped back down and narrowed his eyes at this cousin of his. Well his cousin needed teaching a lesson! He couldn't attack a family member like that. Intuthu let out a snarl or what was suppose to be a snarl, he didn't really have the voice to give a proper deep one.
Then he leapt again, his claws out hoping to get at least a small scratch on his mean cousin!
