The Library (Essays, Articles and Resources)
Boo! Hiss! Essays! Terrible things, aren't they? Hopefully not, since well written information is what this guild's all about! This subforum is for your "essays" - an umbrella term for any lengthy-ish posts about a given subject. This can include your own actual essays, opinions on occult topics, book reviews (although they'd be far better recieved in the Book List thread), analysis of magickal systems, resources regarding occult endeavours and so on. For a better idea of what kind of submissions we're looking for, take a look through the subforum itself!
Guidelines
This subforum is for completed and fully researched ideas. It's a place for articles, not for asking people for feedback or the like, although we hope each post will spark some discussion nonetheless! Even so, if your post is a whimsical idea on a given topic, it would be better received in the Questions and Assistance or Research subforums.
Make sure your topic doesn't already exist. If it does, you're more than welcome to go to that thread and add to it, or you can tweak your topic to be about something related, but not the same thing. If you're putting your own spin on a topic someone else has already written, that's great - just make sure they're not /too/ similar.
You have a whole thread. Use it. This goes along with posting as much as you can. People sometimes zone out if a single post is too long. Try separating your post into five or six smaller posts, by splitting it up by paragraph or subtopic.
Distinguish between fact and fiction, and between fact and personal opinion. Imagine how well a post on the Necronomicon would go if I didn't tell anyone it weren't real. Especially when the Necronomicon contradicts so many proven metaphysical facts. And when giving your opinions, let people know they're yours and yours alone.
Make sure your posts are clear, concise and well written. Don't waffle about talking about irrelevant things, get straight to the point (but provide interesting asides, by all means!) and remember the rules of grammar, punctuation and spelling. A two line post on "lol so mayb wen the viel falls we'll all bcum gods???? i think so wot do u think?" is exactly the kind of thing we /don't/ want.
Give links to references or more information. If someone thinks you're making up some stuff, they'll want to go to the pages you used for the info to check it. If they really liked your topic, adding links will give them a place to start learning more. Links are very important and I recommend everyone who writes topics here adds links to outside information. As well as this, if your post is not your own, make sure you give credit to the author where it's due!
