The stallion had moved from the beach and his family home, not because he didn't like it because without a doubt he loved the sea but because he wanted something new. He wanted a little adventure and to meet those he had never met before.
He had lived such a lovely life, not doing much, being lazy and being looked after by his parents. He hadn't ever really experienced what life is like, what it can do to someone. There are people who aren't always nice but yet he didn't even know that they existed. He was blissfully naive.
He followed the river up from the sea letting it lead him more in land. He had never traveled further then the forest before but he was curious and that led him onwards.
He stopped for a rest, looking up at the sky and then behind him, he could see the sea but not much of it. He would return, of course, he just wanted an adventure of some sort for the time being. He lowered his head to take a drink from the river while deciding whether or not to break away from the river, he wouldn't get much exploring done if he just followed the river.

It was a lazy day, and Kindle was anxious to explore. Too long had she been cooped up with her mother, father, and bratty sisters, and it was time to get some fresh air.
Fiery hooves beat against the ground as she ran, sparks flying, as she was determined to be out of sight of the cave as soon as she possibly could. Once the cave slipped out of her vision, her running slowed down to a trot, and then finally to a lazy walk. There was no need to rush today, one didn't have to go fast to explore.
A soft breeze played with her long strands of black and orange hair, and Kindle smiled, her head turning to the direction of the breeze. The tall trees of the forest loomed overheard, and in the distance, she could hear the sound of the nearby river. She personally had a dislike for water, just like her mother, but even after that brief run, she was feeling a bit thirsty.
She made her way over towards the river's side, wondering which area she should explore first.

Ahmik hadn't met many soquili but had heard of some breeds but none like the female that had just come into view. She had fire coming from her hooves! It seemed impossible or wrong or something. It just didn't seem right.
Ahmik was more of a water creature, living by the sea all his life he loved water. He loved to run in it, feel the drops of water landing on his body as his hooves kicked up the water. He had only seen camp fires of the people and had never really liked them but this was something different and without a doubt it scared him. He wasn't the most courageous stallion around though he could be playful and rather silly at times. He might be a wimp but he liked to have a good time.
As the mare seemed to get closer he just waited and watched. If you took the fire away from her hooves she looked normal. Suddenly his head was full of questions but he knew it would be rude to go up to someone and start asking far too many questions so when she got close enough, he just bowed his head a little and spoke a soft greeting,
"Hello there. I am Ahmik."
It was a simple greeting though he wanted to say much more and ask why she had fire coming out of her hooves for example.

She was leaning her head down for a drink when she heard the soft sound. Her head jerked up, and she eyed her surroundings. There, in plain sight, stood a dark stallion with blue markings, standing and staring directly at her. How had she missed him? Mother would be furious to know she wasn't paying attention to the environment around her... but then again, Momma got furious about alot of things.
After giving the ground a few paws to send embers flying, Kindle returned a whinny and trotted in his direction. Her Mother had taught her to use her fire as her protection; she knew that there weren't many creatures, aside from kalonas and skinwalkers, that would give her any grief because of her flames. Her flames also, however, tended to spook more than just a few creatures, so it was a wonderful thing to find someone who didn't mind her blazing feet.
"Hello there, Ahmik." she said happily, finally closing the distance between the two of them, "I'm Kindle!"
She grinned as she stood in front of him, watching as his eyes continued to study the flickering wisps that enveloped her hooves. She knew she was a wonder to see, but this stallion was different-lookin' himself! While his body was mainly black, similar to her own dark coat, he had a brilliant shade of blue covering over him, blue like the sea. Kindle didn't particularly like the sea, but she loved the color, and it suited him well.
"See somethin' interesting?" she asked, giving him a sly look.

He smiled as she spoke in a far from harsh way, it helped him relax. Kindle. A suitable name for her, especially with those flames and yes he could see something interesting.
"Interesting? Yes and Different. I have never seen someone with flames coming from their hooves. Sorry if I have been staring." He was polite after all he had been brought up well by his father, his mother had strong memory problems and he wondered if she remembered who he was sometimes.
He knew he probably wasn't anything interesting to her after all she had probably seen plenty of normal stallions around!

She couldn't put her hoof on it... but he reminded her of something. Another creature, but... what was it?
"It's alright," the mare replied, softly laughing, "You weren't the first, and you won't be the last. Besides, I'm sure I do look rather odd, on fire and all."
She circled around in front of him, her flames sparking higher as she grew happier. Kindle loved showing off her fire, especially in front of curious onlookers. Although it made her feel tough on the inside, she hated the fact that she had scared off so many potential friends over such a little thing, so it was a treat for her to find someone interested in her hooves.
As she turned back around, her eyes glanced over at the river beside him, and then back at Ahmik. It suddenly hit her. "You remind me of a fish!" she remarked, feeling triumphant that she had pinned down what was bugging her. "That's pretty neat... I've never met a stallion who reminded me of a fish before."
She was sure to get an odd look in response, but she didn't care. It amused her that a horse reminded her of a fish, and it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. No, it was different, and Kindle was all about being different.

He was ever so happy that she laughed, she did look scary but she seemed to be normal otherwise. A bit of fire wouldn't put him off trying to make a friend, it was always good to meet new creatures.
"A fish?" It did catch him off guard but he just laughed.
"My mother, she looks identical to a fish just as a horse and she has the worst memory in the world. I have her markings but reversed. Where I am black she is blue and where I am blue she is black. The markings on my legs though, they are from my father." He nodded down at his fore-leg as he spoke, his grey mane falling over his face, something else inherited from his father.
"Did you get the fire from your parents or were you born unique? I never heard of anyone with fire before, it must be rather cool to be able to run around on fire. Can you burn yourself?" He had to ask, they were things he really wanted to know. Was it even possible for her to exist? He had never heard of anything like her before but then he was naive to a lot of things whether it was to do with species or the opposite gender or even just about life..

His laugh put her further at ease. If he was nervous about her appearance, he didn't show it, and that made her feel better.
She smiled as he described his mother, and she tried to picture the mare in her head. It was funny, trying to visualize a fish as a horse, and she couldn't help but giggle as her imagination tried to conceive it.
"My parents?" She echoed, coming to her senses and back into the conversation. "Oh, well...my markings are from my father, but I get my flames from my mother. She's a Nightmare."
Her ears flattened at the mention of the word, and she hoped the stallion had never heard of the breed. If he had, he'd probably suspect Kindle of being a Nightmare herself, and run for fear of his life. But she wasn't as ruthless as her mother, nor did she want to scare her new acquaintance off, much less devour him. "Mother says I take after Dad most of all," she quickly added, in hopes to reassure him.
"And it is very fun to be born with fire," she grinned, glancing down at her hooves. One lifted up and gently pressed itself against a patch of grass, and Kindle enjoyed the scent as it slowly began to burn away. "Though, I will say, it was very hard to roughhouse with others as a foal."

He smiled as she giggled, he would probably giggle trying to picture his mother! He listened to her talk about her own family and he tilted his head to the side a little as she mentioned her mother being a nightmare. He had never heard of them but as she quickly added that she was more like her father he guessed they weren't nice.
"What are Nightmares?" He wanted to know, he wouldn't judge Kindle by her family, after all she was laughing and giggling surely nothing evil would do that! He assumed Nightmares were just named wrong because Kindle wasn't bad.
"You could play alright with your siblings though couldn't you?" He was assuming she had siblings but then he hadn't came across anyone who didn't have them but then maybe he always assumed and never asked.

"Well..." she started, contemplating on how she was going to phrase her words. Typically, she just bluntly said whatever she thought, but scaring away her new black and blue friend wouldn't help her in the social department, not by a long shot.
"Nightmares... are a type of horse, I guess you could say." the words finally began to spill out. "They're different, in a way. Normally, they tend to be quite ferocious. Like Kalonas, without the pointy tails and wings 'n horns. Sharp fangs for, well, eating meat."
She hoped he wouldn't think of her in that sense, since her mother had yet to try to show her the ways of a true Nightmare. However, Kindle didn't want Ahmik to begin to believe Nightmares were harmless creatures, should he run into a full-blooded one out in the wild. She considered herself part Nightmare, especially due to her hooves, but other than that, she had yet to see herself following the path of her bloodline. Perhaps it was the way she was raised, by a regular stallion as a father. She didn't know, but either way, she had no intentions of trying to be evil, much less attempt to devour Ahmik.
"As for my sisters, well, Keahi wasn't born with fire at all; she's much like father. My other sister, however, was born with fire in her hair, much like I have fire on my hooves."
Nodding, she smiled, painting a mental image of her siblings in her head. As much as she couldn't stand them at times, she loved them both dearly. They had grown up and grown apart from one another, but on occassion they would cross paths here and again.
"What about you, Ahmik?" She asked, returning her focus back towards the stallion, "Do you have any siblings?"

Nightmares didn't sound nice, if they were like Kalonas. They must be rather deceptive because Kindle was beautiful and though he knew Kindle wasn't a whole nightmare they must be somewhat similar.
He just nodded as she spoke and tried to picture her sisters. One had no fire? Well that was something it obviously meant that the sisters were potentially harmless, which he was glad about, he was starting to really like Kindle.
"I have a brother and a sister. They look more like my father though. My father is gray and they are too. They have mothers markings, like I do but they are grey too and are more subtle. They also have vine like markings up there legs like I do but my siblings markings are more like my fathers." He couldn't give much of a description because his fathers markings weren't the easiest thing in the world to describe.
"I don't see my siblings much, they have their own lives I guess."

"Ooooo... lucky!"
Kindle snorted, and took a few steps closer towards the stallions, careful to keep her hooves away from him. "I wish my siblings would get a life of their own. But for now, I'm stuck with them in the cave with Momma and Dad. Pft. Maybe your siblings can teach them how to get their own lives?"
She giggled at the thought of two more fishy-marked Soquili trying to teach her two hard-headed siblings into doing anything. It was an amusing thought, and Kindle loved amusing thoughts.
"While they're at it, they can teach me as well!" she added, giving a nod. "I want to get out on my own... be independant and free. Are you free and independant, Ahmik?"

Ahmik laughed at the thought of his siblings teaching Kindle's siblings anything, chances are the fire would scare them off but then again maybe it wouldn't. It was still something for him to laugh at.
He didn't mind Kindle moving closer to him, it was so odd as they were so opposite. She was fire and he was water, such differences but yet he thought they could be friends, after all she was really nice!
"Well I am free to go where I want so I guess I am free and independent. Maybe you could come with me while I travel about, then you could learn to be free and independent!" He smiled at the idea, after all he would love to have the company and she could learn but he didn't expect her to say yes. He was a bit of a pessimist a lot of the time.

"Hm." she thought aloud. "Traveling alone is always quite boring, isn't it? I'd love to travel along with you, Ahmik, but only if that means I can still be free and independant!"
Grinning, she tossed her head back, long strands of black and orange finding their way behind her ears.
Yes, it would be good to have a companion to walk with. She was lacking in the friends department, and her social skills could definitely use an improving touch. Not only that, but this stallion seemed quite alright with her being... on fire, as she was.
"So," she asked, turning to move so that she was now standing beside him, "When should we go on our first grand adventure?"
