The languages are similar enough to be considered the same. If they weren't spoken in different countries, they would be.

Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Melayu bagus sekali, ya!?
PostPosted: Fri Jun 29, 2007 9:37 am

One of my friends, who moved to North Carolina, is Malaysian! However, she only speaks a few phrases, though her parents speak it... It's a shame, really. gonk

I'd like to learn one [or both, because you say they're the same and I don't quite know x3] sometime. Is it relatively easy? What're the verbs like?

They are the same language. Think of the difference between british english and american english. The difference is about that wide, if not smaller.

It is a really really easy language. Hell, just about the easiest one in the world. (That is practical to learn) I know of some african languages spoken by like 6 people that are simpler, but theres no good reason to learn those, other than for fun.The verbs have no conjugations and to tenses, no genders, no pluralizations, no tones or any of the other stuff asian languages are so notorious for, very very easy. I have some lessons going in the language lessons place, take a look if you are interested. Its a great language. Its one of the most spoken in the world, number 7 or so I think, but its so easy, and not many foreigners learn it. There is no excuse not to, its such a simple language. You could become fluent in like a year if you tried.

Oh, wow...

The verb system is amazing for Malay/Indon. then! Chinese tones are aggravating me right now. sweatdrop
It's so silly that a lot of non-Malay/Indon. people do not speak it if it's so simple! ><

I'm definitely going to start seriously learning this language in August or so... twisted

Yay! Spread the word! The verb system is amazing, because it is as simple as possible. Its a humongous relief when compared to nearly every other language.

Oh, I shall. xd I'm going to torment people at school with it.

-faint-
I love making up verb systems and learning about them, but they're so aggravating to learn and remember sometimes.

Then you shall be pleased. When you get good enough to say like, sentences eventually, you should come talk to me, there is a very tiny Indonesian or Malay population around Gaia, so I have noone to practice at! crying

I definitely will. 3nodding I know how you feel- not many people are learning Lithuanian... Which, compared to what I know of Indonesian, seems relatively harder. ^^;

Gha, Lithuanian. That is tough language. I want to learn some of that since it has random similarities to Sanskrit, which I love, but I haven't the resources or time. Its kind of a shame, around America-land, French, German, and Spanish dominate all other languages. You go to the bookstore, theres a whole wall high case full of Spanish and French books, and one shelf for every other language in the world. There are more Hindi speakers than Spanish, and almost as many for Indonesian and Malay, but how many books for those? 1 to none! It makes me sad... crying

Lithuanian is very pretty, too. ^^

D< I've come to dislike the popularity of those languages.
Though, at my high school library the only language book they have is on Russian. Doesn't make much sense as they don't teach the language... >< At the middle school, however, there are more language books- but primarily Spanish. I think it's because there's a city of mostly Hispanic people about 20 minutes away, though...

I have no problem with Hispanics, the only thing that annoys me about there being so many of them coming is that its perpetuating Spanish so dang much, which pushes other languages kind of into the background, hence there being nothing but Spanish books in Language sections of bookstores.

I know what you mean.

A few weeks ago I ordered some manga- five volumes. Now, it told me they'd be the English version of the manga and only two of them were in English. The other three are in Spanish. D< I know a good deal of Spanish, but I don't think I'll recognize a lot of the words. sweatdrop
