What's your stand on this one?
The church is completely against it. But, I seem to think that Passive Euthanasia is OK. Passive Euthanasia is when you wait for the patient to die on his/her own, and then try to resuscitate him/her afterwards--which isn't really murder.
Because I know someone, and she's a nurse. She has this one patient with cancer who has like two weeks left to live. The patient is in the hospital. And she was required to press the "Resuscitate" button every time the patient goes down. And the patient has been resuscitated for already 32 times in the past hour. And so she waited until she was sure they couldn't keep him alive anymore and pressed the button.

I don't think it brings them back to life; it sounds like waiting to press the button until it's too late.
I suppose it isn't murder, but its still letting them die through something you didn't do. Even if the lady you mentioned did almost die repeatedly, there was a chance, however slim, that she might have made it.

ALRIGHT kk. Here it is. Passive Euthanasia is like taking someone off life support because they don't want to live anymore. And yes, they also lost me on the bringing them back to life part.
I did a report on this subject, a six week long research project, I know what I'm talking about.
First of all, yes, the church is totally against. You can't use your story about the nurse because it is "nostalgic"(i think that's the word) evidence. It means it is specific to you and therefore a 'special case'. Now, not ALL euthanasia practices are evil exactly, but ALL of them are wrong.
Now if a person chooses to be taken off life support, that's different. That's letting the body go in a NATURAL way.

Ok, so passive euthanasia is like letting someone commit suicide. Or am I still way off...

Ok, then I can see why the church is against it cuz suicide is bad, and the doctor/nurse would kinda be an accomplice...

The church is against it, not because suicide is bad (that's a different topic KK), but because it is not a natural way to die. Suicide really isn't either...but again that's different. Euthanasia is assisted suicide. Someone technically..well...murders you. sad

Well, I think that clarifies everything. Euthanasia is evil both in theory and in practice. It makes the person carrying it out a murderer in essence and has the makings of an assisted suicide.

I concur, but Bana, what's with this about more than one type of euthanasia?
