I love pokemon

Ok, this fan-fic revolves around a teenager from Pallet town named Darin. Darin travels the forgotten favorites like Tracey Sketchit, Gary Oak, and Misty.

The Beginning

Darin stepped away from Pallet Town, his home. He stepped passed the welcome sign as his mother cried and cheered at the same time. The moon was riding high, and the wind was blowing cheerfully. Darin's red hair shuddered as he turned and hooked his pokeball into his belt at the same time. Professer Oak strode up to him and grasped Darin's hand. Darin shook vigorously as Oak spoke.

"Congratulations, Darin. Last year you were too late and the pokemon were taken, but today. Today you came out here at 1 A.M. and took yours happily."

"I know, Professer Oak. I know, and I'm excited!" replied Darin, his voice rising.

Professer Oak chuckled, "Darin, behind you is the dirt and grass road to Veridian City. In there you will fight the gym leader, his name escapes me. From Veridian, you will move north, through Veridian Forest, and to Pewter City. That is where you will get your Boulder Badge."

"And then?"

"Go wherever your heart leads!"

Darin nodded and turned, looking down the dirt path again he knew it would be a hard quest. Collecting the 8 badges was hard. Only two people from his town had managed to do so, he planned on being the third. A woman stepped from the shadows and spoke.

"Darin." Darin turned, surprised. "You are the last child in the village, please, when you travel to a town called Celadon, talk to the gym leader, Misty, and get my son, Ash's phone number." It was none other than Ash Ketchum's mom.

"Will do, ma'am."

"Thank you, you don't know what it means only seeing him once every year...and soon it won't be that much. There is no reason for him to come back here. He's done Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn. If he came back he would have to walk here, then all the way further where he is now." the woman started to cry, so she walked away.

Darin stepped backwards, another step from his home.

"Goodbye, son." whispered his mother as Darin turned and walked face-forward to Veridian City.

Darin's blue eyes gleamed as a cloud passed over the moon. He stooped and dunked his canteen into a cool river. He lifted it up to his lips and drank. He refilled it and spun the cap on. He hooked his canteen into his belt, the semicircle holding it still. He followed the river upsteam. The river traveled west, to the sea. He followed it north and soon came to a pond.

The water was sparkling, moonlight shining on it. Darin dipped a finger in the water, the touch sending waves through it like an echo. The beauty of the pond was amazing under the moonlight. A footstep broke his eyes from the sight. Beside him stepped the legendary Suicune. The legendary pokemon's sleek crystal blue fur was as beautiful as the pond. The creature bent down and drank from the pond, waves rippled over the surface.

The pokemon lifted her head and looked at the 13 year old. Darin lifted his hand shakily and moved it forward to Suicune. He stopped when Suicune moved. Suicune pressed her nose forward and sniffed his hand. Darin felt wonderful inside, in less than an hour he had gotten his first pokemon, set on a journey, seen a beautiful lake in the moonlight, and met a legendary pokemon.

Suicune stopped sniffing and nuzzled into his hand, the soft, beautiful, fur felt good on his skin. The pokemon stepped forward and nuzzled into his neck as he realized that it was just a baby. Darin slid his hand down the legendary pokemon's back, the fur sliding under his hand.

The creature cooed, letting out a whisper, "Cuuuune." Darin smiled.

"Are you all alone out here?" he asked, wondering if the pokemon could even understand him. The Suicune shook it's head and turned. It walked forward and looked back, it was trying to lead him somewhere. He followed it through the forest. The Suicune led him deep through it until they came to a small clearing. In the center was a Suicune, lying on the ground.

Darin ran up to it, the baby looked sad, its gleaming eyes were sparkling with tears. Darin crouched at the mother, it was covered in bruises and cuts. Its fur wasn't sparkling, its eyes were half closed, and its breathing was disfigured. He carefully placed his hand over the pokemon's heart and held his hand still when it flinched. He studied the heartbeat for a moment and checked her over carefully.

When he pulled his hand back a tear escaped him. He crawled over to the baby and hugged her.

Darin whispered into the baby's ears, "She's not going to make it." the baby Suicune's mouth opened and it whined. He cuddled the creature, trying to warm it. The mother weakly crawled to the baby and licked its cheek. Darin held both of the creatures while the moon steadily sank and the life slowly left the mother.

When morning came the forest was crying for its loss. The baby curled with her mother, tears streaming down her face. The crystal that grew from the back of her head was lowered, the two ribbon like tails were lying on the ground even though the wind was blowing. Darin stroked the baby's fur.

After another hour of stroking the baby's fur he hugged her. The baby nuzzled him sadly and licked his cheek. He stood and stepped back, the baby walked towards him. She ran up to him and barked sadly, not wanting him to go.

"Come on, Suicune, I'll take care of you...would you like that?" he asked the baby.

"Sui-cuuuune!" cried the baby, jumping on his foot.

"Come on, then, we are going to Veridian City."

Darin led the baby through the small woods, past the pond. A pokemon sprung from the grass at them, a Beedrill.

The pokemon was taller than a human and had two drills for hands. It stood on two skinny legs and had a stinger attached to its back. It stared at Darin with its large red eyes, its antenna moving. It held its drills in an attack position.

Darin looked at the baby Suicune, knowing it couldn't fight as a baby. He slowly reached into his belt and unhooked the pokeball. The Beedrill's wings shook irritatedly. He clicked the ball and it grew from its small version to the full one. He jumped back and threw the ball at the same time.

The ball hit the ground, bounced several feet into the air and opened. A shining red light shot from the ball to the ground. The red light took the shape of his pokemon, and it came into focus quickly. The ball shot back to Darin's hand, he caught it expertly.

The light died and Charmander stood, ready for action. Charmander's tail was aflame, the fire sheding light over the dimly lit area.

"Charmander, tackle!" commanded Darin. Charmander lunged at Beedrill only to be knocked back by one of its drills. Charmander crawled from the ground and was knocked back as Beedrill slammed his drill into Charmander's stomach. Charmander rolled backwards and stopped before he hit the water. He stood.

"Charmander, ember!" called Darin who was beside a tree with Suicune.

Charmander nodded and let a burst of flame from his mouth just as Beedrill dived at him from the air. The flames caught onto the bug pokemon, making it soar over Charmander. The flames started to stretch over the Beedrill's body, it was burned. It dropped and skimmed over the water, making water splash onto him, extuinguishing the flames.

The bug pokemon spun around and charged back at Charmander.

"Charmander, tackle when he gets closer." Charmander nodded and nailed the bug as it came closer. Beedrill pulled up, Charmander hanging onto its feet. Beedrill's stinger shifted and pointed at Charmander. Charmander gasped, his mouth quivered.

The two were about 20 feet in the air when the stinger slammed into the fire pokemon's body. Charmander dropped, the poison starting through his veins. Darin and Suicune were running as fast as they could towards the dropping pokemon. Darin dove and spun, Charmander barely hitting his arms. He had caught him. Darin stood and searched for the Beedrill, but it had gone.

He looked at Charmander, knowing the poison was in his body. He knew there was no poke-center in Pallet Town. Darin held Charmander in his arms and, with Suicune by his side, ran to Veridian City, his mind set on getting there before Charmander died of the poison.
