After the 'incident' with Skye and Wesley, Hailey was feeling much better. Sure, it had taken her a day or so for her 'visitor' to leave but now she was feeling great! She didn't have any aches or pains, her mood swings were on the down low and the day was wonderful! The young woman seemed perfectly happy--a normal tendency after going through such a week long peril--until she recalled a problem before her body went into dysfunctional mode.
Jessie. She would have to break the news to the boy sooner or later--even though she preferred the latter option. How should she break the news? Should she use big words to confuse the boy--her train of thought was interrupted for a moment. What was she thinking? She was the master of break up speeches, letters and face to face discussions. What was the matter with her? 'Maybe because every time I broke up with someone I could run away, whereas now...I have no place to run to...' She thought with a sigh.
Summoning up her courage, the young woman walked over to Jessie's camp area. Guilt was starting to bubble in her stomach, her mind was still trying to figure out the right words to say. If she didn't word the breakup correctly, Jessie might head back to the jungle--something she didn't want to relive ever again. Once she was nearing Jessie's little area she called out to him a in sweet voice. "Jessie! are you there?"

Jessie hummed aimless to himself as he fixed up the area round his tent. He tightened the knots that held up the sheets that surrounded his mattress, he lay down a now clean sheet he’d washed in the river, and dusted the area of leaves. He was really getting into the wing of life here. Which was doth a joy and a pain at the same time. Hopefully he wouldn’t have to maintain this makeshift shelter for long, once he saw Wesley, they could talk about moving to the buildings Leonard had found.
Hailey’s voice reached his pointed red ears, as he stepped back to admire his handiwork with a satisfied sigh. He smiled as he turned around to see Hailey. “Hi Hailey, I’m over here” He wave to gesture her over through the low hanging braches of the palm trees.
“What is it? You need something?”

Hailey looked around for any signs of Jessie and over the low hanging branches she found the sign she was looking for. The girl waved back to Jessie as she made her way towards him. A small smile was on her face as she walked on the sand.
"No, just wanted to see how you were doing and all." She replied calmly, mentally hoping Jessie didn't suspect anything was wrong. On the outside Hailey looked as cool as a cucumber but on the inside she was still trying to string a line of words together for her newest breakup speech. Amber eyes looked at Jessie's make shift camp and was impressed. The boy seemed to be doing a good job of taking care of himself.

Jessie stared at Hailey as she approached, he may have had fins for toes and pointed ears. But he was still transfixed by her. But of course he had no reason to suspect Hailey of any wrong doing. Thus far, he thought she was crushing over him just as much as he was over her.
“Oh al right, I just got back from collecting fruit, I thought you might want some” he replied in his own sweet tone. Jessie had run through this scenario so many times. Often her fruit, so they could eat together, and then he’d try to get closer to her. He wasn’t a master mind of flirting, but he liked to picture what he wanted to do.

At the mention of fruit Hailey thought about asking for some but then remembered her true purpose for talking to Jessie. She was here to calmly and gently break the news to him...not ask for food. Although the attire that she came to him wasn't the best idea. Instead of wearing her business like shirt, she wore only her tank top and of course pants. It was a hot day and the only article Hailey could think of removing that wouldn't cause Jessie to possibly break out in a nose bleed was removing her shirt.
"No, its okay. Not hungry right now but maybe later?" She replied, brushing away a strand of her hair from her face. Her scaly fingers felt warm against her skin, her first though was the heat but recalling the last time such a thing happened results in different coloring across her body. 'Maybe it really is the heat.' She thought to herself. "How are you doing? I mean, I haven't talked to you in a while and...umm.." She let her sentence trail on as her mind went blank with what to say next.

Jessie’s own mind where filled with optimistic thoughts. Hailey had approached him to talk. Not the other way around, as it had been the case in the past. And she was, ahem, dressed rather provocatively in his top. (Jessie admittedly had a huge weak spot for girls exposed stomach) Though his own attire wasn’t much better, he was only wearing his trousers, and his boxers could be somewhat seen above his belt line.
“Oh alright then”, he picked up one of the fruits from the foot of the “Bed” and helped himself. ”Oh er…” He cut off himself, what to say to her now? She was trying to make conversation. Say something he mentally screamed, anything! “He thought to mention the two new member of their community, But they could be rival to his relationship with her. He decided not to mention them “I’m doing fine, See?” He pointed at the tent-bed “It’s pretty comfortable, way better than sand anyway.

Hailey gave a nervous laugh in response to Jessie showing how fine he was. She was a bit envious that he had a better bed than her but she pushed such thoughts away. She had to figure out just what she would say to him. 'I will not run away! I will face this head on!' She thought to herself. A small ache began to form in her lower back--possibly from sleeping on her back too much these last few days.
"Yeah, I think sleeping on the sand is starting to harm my back a bit." She said, crossing her arms over her chest. The coloring of her flesh clashed against her scaly and webbed hands. However the coloring and change of texture was slowly spreading from her hands, by now the change was at her wrist. However, Hailey had failed to notice, her mind was on other things. "Say, Jessie...." She said, trying not to sound so nervous. "You know we're friends right?" She asked, going with the 'you and I are friends and will only be that way...because during your absence I fell in love with the leader of our group' speech.

Alright, Jessie was no master of perception, he’d already demonstrated that a good number of times since he’s arrived on this island. But even he noticed Hailey laugh seemed odd, almost forced.
“Oh?” he responded to Hailey’s comment on her back. “There’s other mattresses’ where I found this one. I just haven’t had the time to bring any more back, I can get you one some time if your back hurts” Jessie failed to notice Hailey’s yellowing hands, he was keeping his eyes on her face, like any gentlemen.
“Erm, yeah, of course we’re friends…why?” He finished his sentence with a slightly worried frown, where was she going with this?

Seeing the worried frown on Jessie face Hailey knew her act wasn't getting her anywhere. She would have to take a different route...but how? 'I used to be such an ice queen, what the hell happen? Have I gone soft? I have gone soft.....crap.' She thought, her lips forming a line thin. She was starting to get upset at a certain diplomat that caused her heart of ice to melt away just when she needed it the most.
"Nothing, just wanted to make sure. Its hard to tell these days if people are your friends or enemies in disguise is all..." Hailey replied in a calm tone, her nervousness gone due to the slow anger stirring inside of her. The pain in her lower back was starting to grow stronger while the yellow scales started to spread up her forearms.
Amber eyes looked down at her hands and saw how much of skin she had left. Her eyes went wide with horror. The virus was spreading over her body! Worry came over her face as the coloring on her hands was happening to her feet....which were starting to hurt as well.
"What the hell is happening?"

He bit into the last chunk of the yellow fruit as Hailey spoke. It was Jessie’s own not so subtle way of hiding his expressions. At least it worked for now.
“Erm…okay” Jessie replied, his smile returning. For a moment there, it sounded like Hailey as going to give him the “lets just be friends” speech. “Of course I’m your friend Hailey” He said, putting emphasis on the “Friend” to try and make it obvious he didn’t mean it in that context at all.
“Hailey what is it?” He ran up to her to see what was the matter, in the light she’d been standing in it had hidden the new colouring of his forearms. Her scales where spreading. A hard lump fell into Jessie’s stomach, the virus was getting worse. “H-Hailey, are you okay?” He asked as he took her hands to see her new coat of scales.

Communication is a funny thing. First two people have to meet, speak in the same language and the context has to be equal on both ends. However, in this case, the word 'friend' meant two different things for Hailey and Jessie. For Hailey it meant, simply friend. A person to be there for you...and for Jessie it meant something on a deeper level. Too bad Hailey didn't have time to think about Jessie's meaning of the word when he stressed it out. She was too busy getting down on her knees to hold her stomach.
Her lower back was starting to throb and she felt something crawling up her spine and on the sides of her face. She wanted to a mirror to see just what was going on but the pain in her feet began to start. "Does it look like I'm okay?!" She yelled, it wasn't because she was annoyed with Jessie but rather at the fact he had to ask such a question when it was obvious she wasn't 'okay'. "Get Wesley NOW!" Hailey ordered, she needed Wesley to explain to her just why the 'virus' was getting worse...and maybe there for moral support?

What to do now? Jessie had never been in this situation, watching someone collapse in pain as they start to mutate. Now he knew how Hailey felt that night in the backseat of the car. And now, he couldn’t blame her for being as freaked out was she was.
He hunched over as Hailey was on her knees. He could now see blue scales like those on her ears spreading up her back and over the edges of her chin. “S-sorry!” he exclaimed “W-what do you-“ he was cut off as Hailey commanded him to get Wesley. But last Jessie was aware he was off in the jungle, possibly looking for Leonard. “Er…o-okay” he replied in a panicky tone as he got back up and looked frantically around. But Wesley was no where to be seen.

Hailey wanted Wesley to help her through another 'change' but since he wasn't around she would have to find comfort in Jessie. The young woman didn't want to be alone through the whole ordeal, she had someone there to be with her--even though that person was Leonard--with her last change. Amber eyes looked over to Jessie before falling down to her side, curling up in the fetal position.
She could hear the grinding of the bones in her feet. twisting, conforming and something being drawn back in--what it was, she didn't want to know right now. The pain was traveling up to her spine. She felt as though something was trying to break through--which was technically right. There were blue scales growing on her spine as well as a bump of sorts. The girl bit down on her lower lip, trying to keep herself from screaming in pain.
"It hurts....it hurts..." She cried, tears rolling down her cheeks, her hands still clutching her stomach.

“H-Hailey. I’m sorry…Wesley’s not here” he was at a lose at what to do with the girl, Wesley was the leader for a reason, because he could mange this sort of stuff. Jessie just couldn’t. Hailey was in pain and there was nothing he could do about it.
As Hailey rolled over Jessie fell to his knees next to her. “Ha-Hailey” he whispered, as he frantically thought what he could possibly do to ease her pain. He could only watch in horror as her feet became more and more fin like. “I know I know it does…” He did the only thing he could right now, try to comfort her. He lifted Hailey up gently so he could wrap his arms round here and rest her had on his chest. “It’s okay…I’m here”

Hailey welcomed the comfort, she needed someone with her to get through the pain. Her hands released their hold on her stomach to hold Jessie. Tears began to stain his chest as she let out a scream from the final 'ccccrraacckk' sound in her feet. That part of her body was done changing while she felt her ears stinging. They were stretching out again but hopefully the pain of that wouldn't be as great as the one with her lower back.
Hailey whimpered through the rest of the pain. The bump on her lower back seemed to be attached to her tail bone...which was slowly protruding out to form a tiny blue and yellow tail.
