Manticores have the the body of a lion, the tail (with a stinger) of a scorpion, a dragons wings, and the head of a man. Manticores have blood-red (or sometimes flaming blue) eyes and three rows of teeth. Their voices sound like very shrill flutes, and they are capable of basic human speech.
This Manticore in particular has blood-red eyes. Manticores are not common to the realm of darkness, this one sent from the realm of nightmares, the king hoping to kill off much of the town. The manticore was captured and placed in a fenced area with an invisible box spell that keep it from flying more than 50 feet in the air, so it can be better watched, and it cannot go farther than the fencing. The manticore cannot be gotten to except by Moriko, who has the key to the gate, and that being the only way to get in through the invisible box spell.
