As all (or at least most) of you know during our one year anniversary party (which was insanely awesome, by the way) we held a contest where you wrote a guild anthem, and then Jen idiotically sung it. So we thought "if we have a guild anthem, then why not have a guild mascot too?"
And seeing as this is a major celebration and a party in it's own right, we though we'd have a contest where you can think of a mascot for it. Jen will then (not idiotically this time) draw it and CG it with your input and we'll have a mascot. whee
What we're asking is for all of you to make suggestions for a guild mascot. Now, it can be pretty much anything, whether it be an animal, a mythical creature, a plant, or a tree, bird, plane, superman etc. Heck, you can even make up an animal/tree/plant of your very own. No one said it had to be an existing creature, right?
But, along with your suggestion, we'd also like you to include a little bit of information about what your suggestion. I'll give you an example:
Quote: The ant- The ant is very industrious. Some ants are solitary but most are part of a large community. Within the community there is a repertory of activities and behaviors. Their activities include gathering and hunting. Within a community each ant knows its place and performs its duties with total loyalty to the whole. If the ant where to be our mascot, he would have little blue fairy wings and a magic staff carried on his back.
There are various websites that you can get this information from. Here is one of them.
The Rules: - Have fun! - The same thing cannot be suggested more than once. - Don't make fun of other suggestions. - You have to have the information along with the suggestion. - You don't have to, but we'd really appreciate it if you post an awesome picture of your suggestion as reference. Bonus points if you draw/paint/etc one.
The Prizes: - 1,5oo cold, hard Gaia Gold - Our eternal love heart - Your username and a link to a place of your choice on our homepage for a month, and your username just generally respected throughout the guild. - Your suggestion drawn and CGed.
At the end of the celebration we will set up a voting system to determine our new guild mascot!

I feel like I'm not supposed to post here or something. I'll delete it if not, whatev.
---
I'd like to suggest the Aziza of African mythology. They are little fairies that live in the forest and give both practical and spiritual knowledge to those who find them.
I'm pretty sure that this perfectly describes the guild. To be honest, I almost didn't pick them because they are so literal. But that's what we are. A group of people who give advice both in the practical and the spiritual, to whoever may ask.
If the Aziza were to be our mascot... I would let Jen do a creative rendition. ---
I'd also like to suggest the hummingbird. This little bird represents, to me anyway XD, balance. It finds it's power not only in the downstroke of its tiny wings, but in the upstroke as well. It shows us a balance of everything in life, and reminds us all to remember to keep joy as a part of our lives.

I would say a wolf, because even though it can be lone, it also travels in packs with a lot of unity. It's strong and beautiful, like every witch in his or her way. And the pack is even stronger than just the animal itself, supporting and providing eachother with help.
If this was our mascot I would picture it as and artic wolf, because of how beautiful they are, with a small pentagram shape on it's forehead.

I mean, I love the little things to death, but there are lots of other pack animals that are less over-used. The wolf doesn't just give me the vision of a powerful canine, but of fluffy-bunnies who really don't get Wicca just yet. (Not accusing you of fluffyness, or anything.) Aurellion o_O I really like that idea! whee
Why do you feel you can't post here, silly? xD It's a celebration, and you can't have a celebration if people don't post... It was so clean and new and empty. It was like... defiling the purity or something. XDD

Eagle: A bird noted for wisdom and long life in Celtic stories. The eagle represents swiftness, strength, keen sight, and the knowledge of magick. It helps you to see hidden spiritual truths.
Swiftness - Strength - Courage - Wisdom - Keen sight – Messenger of Great Spirit - Healing - Creation - Knowledge of magic - Ability to see hidden spiritual truths - Rising above the material to see the spiritual - Ability to see the overall pattern - Connection to spirit guides and teachers - Great power and balance - Dignity with grace - Connection with higher truths - Intuitive and creative spirit - Respect for the boundaries of the regions - Grace achieved through knowledge and hard work
Otter: These animals were considered very magickal by the Celts. Otters were said to appear and help during the voyages of Maelduine, Brendan, and others. The otter is a strong protector who helps with gaining wisdom, finding inner talents, faithfulness, and the ability to recover from any crisis. Woman’s healing wisdom - Sensibility without suspicion - Guidance in unmasking talents - Psychic awareness - Faithfulness - Recovery issues - Understanding the value of playtime
Edit:
Deer: Gentle and swift, the Deer represents spiritual growth, specifically the ability to soften our hearts in order to allow growth to occur. Additionally, the Deer is acutely aware of its surroundings and thus serves as a model for our own awareness.
Deer Animal Totems Facilitate:
Sharper sensory awareness (development of clairaudient and clairvoyant) Spiritual growth through softening and humility Gentleness, peace and internal assurance
Porcupine: The porcupine has the medicine of purest innocence because it has so few enemies. It's appearance makes us speculate the quality of our own innocence. The porcupine moves and goes about it's life with unquestioning faith and assurance that all things are exactly the way they should be. This animal totem meaning is perhaps the most profound of all totems.
Porcupine Animal Totems Facilitate:
Trust in the higher powers that be, never questioning if the sun will rise, simply trusting that it will Reaquaintence with our innocence - letting our guard down occasionally Understanding that vulnerability is an art form. Realizing that fear, doubt & worry are useless to us
Raccoon: Clever, fastidious, curious Raccoons represent child-like qualities such as the need for play and "out of the box" thinking. With its tell-tale masked face, and tendencies for thievery, Raccoons masters of disguise and mischief. Raccoon Animal Totems Facilitate:
Buoyancy of spirit, playfulness, light, airy fun feelings Cleverness, unique perspective of thought that will lead to unique solutions to problems. Luck and fortune, including ease in the search for finding what you desire

For your kittens idea Jamie why don't you have one black one for night, a white one for day, and the third a mixture of black and white to represent both night and day and darkness and light and if you want to Yin-Yang.
Know for my suggestion.
I thought of a bat. The bat can help bring forth new ideas which everyone in this guild at one point or other has done. As well as transition and initiation. Whether your unsure of this religion or learning we're all here to help you along your way and you may just become a Wiccan yourself through the knowledge we help you with.
I'll post a pic when I make one. But it would be a dark blue in color not to dark that it would be mistaken for black, have sea green eyes, and sparkles on the wings, and it would be smiling.

Everyone, please vote. This is a very important thing to our guild. We'd like as much input as we can get. (I'd really love to see 30+ votes).
The more people who vote=the faster we will know what our mascot is! So everyone, if you have friends in the guild, please tell them to come in and vote (especially if you know they aren't active)!
