Hair Color: Black.

Occupation: Journalist.
Home Town: Brooklyn.
Residential Location: Brooklyn Heights.

Personality:

Brash and witty, Peter suffers what one may consider overwhelming arrogance and recognition of his claimed intellect. While intelligent, he tends to abuse such intelligence by utilizing it to feed his ego. In that respect, he tends to dwell on self-righteous grounds. He is cocky, arrogant, and incredibly prone to stepping on toes. All the while he seems blissfully ignorant of his Scrooge-esque behavior, manning his profession with extreme, radical dedication that is prided upon solely because it gets the story down on paper.

He is a Journalist. He is a dedicated Journalist, whose stories dwell in the realms of Courtrooms and Politics. Considering such situations, he is often thrust into forceful behavior, and that developed nature has since become a part of his personality. To put it lightly, Peter is pushy and rude. He will stand and continuously criticize or repeat his question with new wording until told to be seated, or told to leave. Naturally, that causes problems. His sheer behavior and spoiled-based persona scream trouble and drama in terms of intimate relationships. While that may not always be the case, one can consider his core construction to be a foundation for potential annoyance. In other words: He isn't the sort of guy you want to sit around for a long period of time. He may end up pressing for information and being nosy, or something of that nature.

That speaks of professionalism rather than intimacy, however. While his rash and forward nature is transfered to his daily life, he behaves distinctly different amongst friends than he would amongst business. He does care. He does feel - and those emotions are often silent and powerful, displayed through a variety of things. Peter teases fine acquaintances. He fiddles with them lovingly, and that can often be construed as wrongful. Though unaware of himself, it is rather obvious that he has a loud mouth that never seems to quit moving at the right time during a problem. Regardless, that does not change the internal feelings of affection for friends, family, and lovers. As he would claim, and as his habits would show, that love tends to be obsessively eternal and desperately clingy. Such a factor holds true when someone may happen to point out how they feel about his treatment of them. What you need to understand is that Peter outright believes he is not in the wrong. His placement of blame tends to be that someone else over-reacted, or that some outside force is to blame for any misconceptions or troubles. He is highly irresponsible for his actions, and that just follows in to the fact that he is particularly oblivious and shallow.

Once again, Peter is pushy and self-righteous. He is also devout and affectionate, but longs more to be pampered, groomed, and taken care of than anything else. The exact cause for such a god-complex can be estimated, but the fact remains that Peter craves affection enough to kick and claw his way about to gaining praise. Such is the world of rough business and life - and such is the world of which he thrives the most. Naturally, this depicts the fact that he is highly interested in people. While a little unorthodox with good friends and lovers, he seems much more ... Pleasureful on first encounters. This can be described as the common depiction of a "dual-faced" person. Peter obviously isn't a complete shrew when someone meets him. He can begin as an orderly and decent individual and gradually progress into his more habitual social tendencies. However, note that Peter is highly sociable and has a tendency to mix emotions around strangers. He may be casual. He may be orderly. He may be rude. He may be polite. His exact reaction to strangers is difficult to depict simply due to its unpredictability and its basis on circumstance.

Furthering, there seems to be a naive streak to Peter. He is foolish, as can be expected with a man who cares only to visualize himself in the form of success and influence. He is particularly unaware of his own behavior, but he also seems particularly oblivious to the emotions and feelings of others - his articles taking no care or consideration of sheltering reputation damaging information that may be truthful or relevant to the article. At the same time, he defends himself. He attempts to justify himself - and when the matter turns to the truth that he is wrong he turns his back like the coward he is within. Peter is cowardly. He is craven, and distinctly unnerved by rejections or condemnations. The extent of such fear and disdain varies with situations, but it seems to rule him like a shadow - working in alignment with his ever-burning need to succeed and thrive.

In summary: Peter is arrogant, oblivious, naive, inquisitive, intelligent, cowardly, affectionate, and professional.

Please understand that, while negativity shines through, Peter is not solely an annoyance or pest. As mentioned previously, he is rather affectionate and loyal when he cares. His professionalism shows his dedication to his job, to his boss, and to his co-workers almost as much as it shows his desire to be one of the best. While his behaviors are unorthodox and impolite on occasion, there are times when the switch may be flipped and he may become lovely. It is a set of emotions trapped within a tug-of-war. Greed and ambition colliding with affection and romanticized love. In real time, Peter does not realize himself. As reiterated before: he is oblivious. Whether or not that will ever change is for one to poke at curiously. Regardless! As a notation, please don't think of Peter as an entirely distasteful jerk. While it does characterize him, he is also characterized by his affections and loyalties to those he cares for.

Physical Appearance:

An oxymoron is considered a contradiction. Bitter sweet. Cravenly bold. These phrases often twiddle with the mind to create humour or passionate effects or descriptions, and, playing on the literary realm, Peter Madison is no exemption from the ludicrously that is an oxymoron. He is particularly neat in a chaotic way. His attitude fills itself with sudden thoughts and he follows them - particularly in dress, where, meticulously, he matches colors, even though he may scarcely seem to acknowledge whether or not the clothing is neatly pressed. These arrangements of attires he constructs are nothing short of common based. They're News like, professional, with subtle hints of casual contained within them. Yet, on occasion, they are wrinkled and dampened; they are not set out to look as neat as they may every now and again. Furthering is the topic of hair. Peter's is often laid out flat on his skull, but on given mornings certain strands stick up and there is rarely a bother to fix it. However, the matter of truth lies in the fact that there is a neatness and properness to his inconsistent styling of both hair and attire. It seems fitting. It portrays him as the busy man that he shows himself to be - travel worn and always ready to dash somewhere for an interview. Peter is no man of luxury timing, and his general manner of dress and stance tend to show that 'uppity' nature of his. His impatience shines through in his eyes, along with the variety of other emotions - the pain, the happiness, the bitter cold. His face is often as alight as his work, glowing with its emotions and influencing the rest of his stance. Fidgety to a fault, he changes with each passing feeling. In idleness he stands firm and tall. His eyes have a tendency to fixate - though, even then, they never remain in one place for far too long unless a direct reason has emerged that his attention should not be divided. In terms of average stance, the line of proper and slacking emerges quickly. Peter, himself a man of 'elite education', is an egoist. He stands tall and firm on most days. Regardless, that does not exclude the slouching tendencies of which are exhibited when tired, bored, or saddled with some form of unagreeable emotion. In the simplest of terms: Peter is like the wind on any given day. The breeze will blow softly and smoothly, depicting a certain calm, neatness; then without warning it will morph into a torrent of entropy.

Following along side a general nature of stance, you hit a fork in the road of which way to turn. For consistency sake, we'll focus on physical build and general features before diving into attire and coloration of a more official setting than laid out above. To begin bluntly: Peter is rather built. This is not to imply powerful muscles, nor a fit body, but rather a husky appearence full of sharp features. He tends to look remotely blockish about the face and shoulders, the broadness of his being depicting a built out width matching with a built out height. He is not, by any means, a tall man. Loosely average if not slightly below the idea of a height-blessed man. Regardless, that does not detract the ratio. Peter looks a proper weight for his size! On the contrary, though. The majority of this built is not muscle - but rather a flop from a lack of proper working of most muscles. Not one for the gym, Peter isn't going to walk about with robust arm muscles or anything of the sort. At best, his body appears mundanely average and youthful. However, it is worn by the comings of age in terms of the face, lines emerging just beneath his eyes as if to depict habitual insomnia and stress. As they say: stress makes the man age. This is true in terms of certain areas. In Peter's case, it is the area just beneath the eyes. Once again: lines emerging as if to depict age. Resting atop his head in its own way is a mop of thick black hair. Dark with a loose gray here or there of unnoticable quality, it emerges with a dulled luster - but is still particularly full and solid. Naturally, this would carry on the the beard that is promptly placed in full glory on his chin. As another notation, the extent of facial hair is exclusively glued to the chin - and this would be part of the vague nit-picky style that Peter exhibits. He does not contain a mustache. It is unlikely that he ever will, as he'd rather shave his entire face than 'look like a woodsman' [as he would put it]. However, furthering, the facial hair distinctly connects to side-burns, thus locking his head into a bit of a mane-like style. Lionization for the egoist, and Peter certainly would like to come off as a bit of a lion. Continuing, though. His eyes are not narrow and unintrigued, but wide and provident - their medium brown color shining through. Those eyes, the tunnel of emotion in partnership with the track of his face, are hidden behind glass, though. Literal glass. A pair of thick, square framed glasses are settled right on the bridge of his narrowed, sharp nose. Now these are important. Peter requires these glasses to see, after all, his vision darkening and becoming unkeen once they have been removed. It would be a particular tragedy for them to disappear, and thus he cares for them like he would his children. Mark the word: he is and was a loving father who lavished his children in affections. Naturally, he does the same for his eyewear. Moving along, we get further into coloration, or rather, the last bit of coloration, being skin. It is a medium peach. Scarcely pale, but scarcely darkened. Imagine something remotely along the lines of tanning, but not quite there - depicted as a little yellow, but certainly not yellow. He is sandy at best. He is a smooth, sandy color of soft variety - like something off of a beach.

Now then. That about covers the generalities of physical build - construct. The leaves us with attire. As rambled about two paragraphs ago, Peter tends to be very meticulous with colors. By this, I mean that he usually doesn't pick more than two colors. In the most common case, that would be red and black, as they are his favorite combination. For bemusement purposes: we'll say that Peter is a fan of fine leather jackets, long coats, vests, and sweater-vests. His style borders on that of finer things. He likes to look professional and status-bound, and it can scarcely be denied that he usually does resemble such concepts. Such ideas are his obsession, and so they shine through at whatever opportunity they very well may. Focusing, though, on the matter of most importance. When Peter arrives, he is gifted with nothing more than what he had on at the time of the happening. That would be a fine, rich, deeply colored red sweater vest, a short sleeved, button up black shirt, a pair of black slacks, and a pair of black business shoes. Nothing too elaborate or shining, but professional and particularly journalist. Inclusively, his messenger bag also managed itself along, his having been wearing it. This bag is medium sized and a dark brown, with light brown buttons that contrast the concept of tints and shades. There is but one buckle at the center of this bag that locks it closed. For measures, what is contained inside is nothing more than several notebooks with notes scribbled inside, pencils, pens, a book for reading, and a couple of pictures of his family [or what had been his family].

If you chunk all of this together in a melting pot, stir for approximately two seconds, and then dump it onto the ground, it hardens into a particular shape. That shape? Peter Madison.

It all began on the evening of November 4th of 1974. The air had been chill, and the city streets had been bumbling much to the disdain of Mrs. Patricia Madison. The car had sped down the road; the breathing had become labored - and life had taken its ridiculous toll by creating a situation of utter drama and comedy. Mrs. Patricia Madison gave birth in the wee morning hours of November 5th, to a strapping boy who she and her husband, Jacob, had promptly addressed as Peter Madison. The conflict that ensued within the room were held to much praise and bewilderment in the aftermath filled with swooning and affections. Such was the world Peter entered. One of anger, love, and pampering.

On the contrary, his family was of no particular status. His parents worked common-base jobs. His father was a particularly enthusiastic restaurant owner. His mother was a lover of numbers and an accountant. Life swirled about the finances and Peter grew up in an ordinary household pushing to pay bills and live the American Dream of the 1970s and the 1980s. Peter himself was affected by this mundane averageness of his family, and, with vigor and determination, he sought to escape it and enter the world of recognition and influence - During later years, not childhood. His relationship with his parents during those childhood years was about as anyone could expect. He was attached and in love with them, much as they were with him - and their worlds seemed to collide with making the best of what they had and pushing each other towards some form of contentment in life. They were a proud family. They were a happy family. Until Peter struck his teenage years. The natural segment of anarchy had seemed to ensue at first, but had been flooded with hermit time and study sessions - the boy having had an epiphany of some sort one day. The Madison home had been abuzz with activity during those four years of Peter craving, desperately, to attend one of the higher Ivy League schools. His parents were distraught by the costs. Peter was distraught by the expectation. What occurred between them during those years only served to create a rift within their relationships as it became painfully obvious that they were different from one another.

Peter's parents just wanted life and happiness. Peter wanted everything. So life continued on into High School, and, through a stroke of luck and ridiculous work, he made it into Harvard, his school of choice. Proud and dignified, he departed his parents' home and settled into college life, reaping the benefits of public aide to pay tuition. Somewhere along the line, his ego had began to inflate. Somewhere along the line, everything had seemed to alter and shift in weird ways as Peter grew from ambitious and craving to dedicated, working, and akin to a vulture. His parents had noticed it first, but never in life did it become an issue as he confessed his undying love for Journalism and his eagerness to one day work for one of the big name papers, his favorite choice fumbling with the New York Times or the Wallstreet Journal. Endlessly he blubbered over it - but by the time he finished school the sheer idea of becoming a famed Journalist seemed ludicrous given fall-backs and problems. [For curiosity's sake: That would involve grades, as well as trouble with the steps of becoming a staff member for Newspapers].

But Lady Luck had been kind to Peter during his young life. Lady Luck had been kind enough to give him a school he wanted, and, damned be, she gave him his job for a local Newspaper, which eventually progressed into a paper of larger name and popularity. His climbing success began in his late twenties and only seemed to sky-rocket into the age of Thirty, where it became stable and his name became associated with court cases and conflicts of political interest and high profile. Peter Madison had gained his desire for the field of Journalism, but, as rabid and greedy as he always was, he had longed for more and more.

Through one case he covered, Peter met a young woman by the name of Jacquelin, who, as his petty heart and mind had declared, would so complete his life. He courted her enthusiastically throughout the trial of which he covered, eventually utilizing the connection into a friendship and intimacy. Some time before his thirty first birthday, Peter and Jacquelin were wed and settled off for a planned honeymoon. Their marriage had seemed to prosper for the first few years - the two sharing a fine relationship. Then responsibilities began to arise. Children. Two daughters. Peter felt as if the world were beautiful and fine, but his negligence of his family for his job became apparent as he began to travel for long periods of time. By the time he was Thirty-Three, the decision had been made to end the marriage. Bouts of drama and anger had risen from the marriage as it spiraled out of control, and finally the divorce papers were signed and custody of the children awarded to Jacquelin. The arrangement of every other weekend. The child support. Peter was left a distinctly unhappy man despite himself. His world had seemed to go to shambles as his perfect image had been shattered by the woman he so trusted. Yet he never changed from duty, crudeness, and a craving for recognition and power. Love and happiness had not been enough - and never would it be, for Peter wallowed in himself and his arrogance. He discarded his family promptly, relishing the time he spent with his daughters and ignoring his estranged wife. It was not until he realized the quietness of his home that he became desperate to have his life return to the way it had been before. He became terribly distraught, terribly bitter, and his demand had turned almost violent.

Never would he gain Jacquelin back, and little would he know of what unthinkable happening would occur in his future. Where the story begins, Peter lives alone with the memories of his marriage's happier time and the brief weekend visitations of his two-year-old daughters. He lives with his job as a Journalist, flourishing and wallowing all the same - and he hungers for himself greedily, ignoring the feelings of others while working. A beast be he, and so what shall become?

[ As for how he comes into contact with the Pukka? As for what it is?

A pair of wedding rings reflecting his desire to reinstate his marriage to Jacquelin. I imagine he would run into a stranger. He would purchase these items on a bargain price, as if it were truly meant to be; then he would return home to admire them and dream of putting his life together as it had been once before. Alone in the night.]

The Nue is a legendary creature found in Japanese folklore. It has the head of a monkey, the body of a raccoon dog, the legs of a tiger, and a snake instead of a tail. A Nue can also transform into a black cloud and fly around. Due to its appearance, it is sometimes referred to as the Japanese Chimera.

They are known to be the bringers of Illness and Misfortune, as sighted through stories such as The Tale of Heike. The Emperor became ill as a Nue perched atop his palace, and it was not until the Nue was killed that the Emperor returned to health.

The most famous story involving the nue takes place in the year 1153, at the imperial palace in Kyōtō. Emperor Konoe begins having terrible nightmares every night, to the point that he falls ill, and it seems that the source is a dark cloud that appears on the palace roof every night at two in the morning. The problem is eventually solved by Yorimasu Minamoto, who stakes out the roof one night and fires an arrow into the cloud, out of which falls a dead nue. Yorimasu then takes the body and sinks it into the Sea of Japan.

A local expansion of the story exists, in which the nue's corpse floats into a certain bay and the locals, fearing a curse, bury it. The mound where the beast lies can still be seen today.

[ Information provided by Wikipedia.org's "Nue" Article ].

With that stated, we are going to cover a few questions I imagine are bumbling through the minds of readers. This will be done in a Q & A format for sake of organization - and more Q & A will be added if ever requested.

Why the Nue for Peter Madison?

This is a funny question for me to think of answering. It boils down to personality and intrigue. Keep in mind that Peter holds a particular level of arrogance and rudeness. That inconsiderate nature tends to create conflict and drama within his life - between friends, strangers, etc., etc. The extent of such drama and conflict is a variation, but, as his divorce displays, it can be rather tragic for himself, and possibly for people around him. It is, as stated, simply that inconsideration.

In that respect, I felt that the Nue was appropriate for Peter's character. I felt that a creature causing misfortune and illness would shine within Peter's soul - and that his gradual progression into such a horrid monster would make for interesting realizations, obliviousness, conflicts, etc., etc. What ever may happen to Peter in the end, it is quite obvious that he wallows in entropy and pathetic self-indulgence; all the while he clamors about and occasionally causes tragedies and troubles in the lives of others. While such behavior is not solo, it is rather provident. Effectively? Peter is somewhat of an ignorant scrooge.

The Nue is, as mentioned, a bringer of Illness and Misfortune. Symbolically speaking, that could characterize all of the pain, suffering, and hardship he may have caused others during his professional career. You reap what you sow.

Personally? I chose the Nue because I found the beast to be stunning and broad in comparison to other creatures who were on my list of options. So many alternative paths. It's like a Robert Frost poem on steroids.

Wait. So it's like Karma?

Hehe. I guess? Whether or not he suffers because of it isn't really known. He might freak out. He might accept it. Hell. He might even find it empowering! But the ugly beast is a reflection of Peter's treatment of others on occasions. I guess you could consider that Karma.

So how would Peter react to this situation?

Once again: There is no telling. He might be a little weirded out at first, but where that leads is for anyone to guess. I bank on the idea of him feeling empowered, distraught, or complacent. While I do have general ideas, I'm not one to reveal exact details of fun character-developments! :] Speculate all you want.

Why Fire and Chaos?

Beginning with Chaos: the element is unpredictable and filled with its own unique order to things. Peter is a chaotic man. His emotions and actions are flooded by impulses - or seeming impulses - and he does whatever it takes to get what he feels he needs. He is a brash and witty man of an improvised quality. He is also a coward. Bold. Cowardly. Two sides of the same mask, lined with ambitions, passions, zeal. Peter himself is not predictable in his happenings and emotions. He acts differently in different situations, and thus his predictability is unaccounted for.

By logistics, and by a personal belief, I felt that chaos was the ultimate best choice for Peter as a person. It depicts his tendencies to be spontaneous and rash. It depicts his jumbled feelings. It depicts his loose sense of courage. It is the shining element within Peter's soul, and thus chaos was promptly seized as an element of notation and determination.

As far as Fire goes: Peter is ambitious and emotional. His life is lined by a dire need to succeed and be great. He wants to be remembered. He wants to influence people with his work. He wants to be someone. The ambition fuels him. It consumes him as a wildfire would, and demolishes the constructs that he carefully constructs as he dances from one focus to another in a matter of moments. His losses, his gains, his life. It makes him distinctly emotional. In fact, the reason why he was sucked into the situation he would be sucked into here is because of his emotion. Keep in mind that Peter bought the Pukka, a pair of wedding rings, out of extreme loneliness and determination to win back the heart of his recently divorced wife.

Like fire, Peter is hungry and passionate. Like fire, he is filled with the feelings of taking, of receiving. Following the line of his personality and its states, it is a proper choice. Setting it right alongside chaos, you have a pair of elements like no other that depict the beasts within his heart and soul. The beasts that ravage within and make him who he is.
