One game I think people should try is Shadow of Yesterday.
http://www.crngames.com/the_shadow_of_yesterday/index the deal with this game is it is a Fantasy setting like other games, but the mechanics are awesome. you get XPs by buying Kays for your character. A stereotypical key would be Key of Bloodlust (you get XPs for getting in fights). But there are othe Keys like Key of Compassion (you get XPs for helping those who can't help themselves). Your character starts with two and you can do comboes like Key of bloodlust (xps for starting fights) and Key of cowardice (XPs for avoiding fights). Or, Key of Bloodlust (XPs for starting fights) and Key of Masochism (XPs for getting damaged). Meaning you can set it up so you get XPs no matter what or double XPs. There are tons of Keys, so you can make a character this is motivated by what you see them as motivated by.
Its hard to see how cool it is, but on have played a session or two, you will see how beautiful it truly is...
