first off, i want to clearly state that this isn't some sho and kyoko's mom are the worst because they're the two people who hurt kyoko the most thread, however true that is...
i was just rereading vol7 and thus had to reread vol8 because of the pv thing. so when i got to vol8 i was thinking....hey, you know what, by now, i think sho's big enough that he'd defend kyoko from her mother, even go as far as to say protect kyoko from her. even though sho couldn't do anything, or more like just didn't do anything for kyoko before, i think that if kyoko's mom were to show up now and sho was present, sho'd probably protect kyoko from her mom.
but what about a scenario where sho and ren are both present?.....i think they'd both want to do something...but...who'd act first and how would they respond?....

oOo interesting!! I think this is a scenario in which both would end up protecting her at the same time. Sho i sense would be more like the "run up and punch mother or yell at her incredibly much" and Ren is the "stand close to kyoko, use his gentlemanly face but glare/be evil to mother till she backed down" Unless...of course Ren was uber man...in which case it'd be a double KO!

i could imagine ren going into super ice cold demon king mode and glaring down kyoko's mom with that fake but dazzling smile and shooting poison dart words at her, but kyoko's mom is someone i imagine to be really strong willed and probably intimidating (otherwise how could she disregard her mother/daughter relationship with kyoko like that), someone hard and cold as iron, and probably if you met her for the first time she'd throw you off because she'd probably be just as unpredictable as kyoko only in a different way.
so when i think of it like that, i think that sho may have more of an advantage since he knows kyoko's mom, and since he's more childish, he just might disregard everything and throw himself in there since he's so brash and prone to action (like the thing with mr. stalker sweatdrop )

oh, wow, I would love to see a scenario of Kyoko being protected from her mom. But for some reason, when I think of a scene where her mom does come into, I believe that Lory would probably have an important part of "protecting" Kyoko. I say that because Lory is very insightful about Kyoko sadness and past, and also, he IS the president of LME and Kyoko's agency.

that's true.....considering kyoko's mom, she probably knows about legalities and would very likely approach kyoko's representer rather than kyoko herself first off, but if kyoko's mom approached kyoko herself in private first, i think lory would only come in later because it seems like lory likes pushing people in certain directions, influencing them that way, but he usually doesn't interfere directly unless he needs to. so i think if it were only a personal issue, only people immediately around kyoko would be involved in the dispute, but since kyoko's mom seems like a business woman, it seems likely that the dispute will become big enough to draw in lme's president.

i agree with you that ren would go into his "demon" smile twisted and attacking kyoko's mom with clever words, without forgetting, of course, to be respectful the entire time. On the other hand, i think sho would insult her rashly and immaturely scream , but in the end, he'd just say it was no big deal. he did it because he never liked kyoko's mom, not because he was standing up for kyoko stare . anyways, that's what i think would happen 3nodding

I get the feeling that Ren would react before Sho and react more harshly, because Sho...he isn't very good at dealing with those situations I don't think. He's not good at dealing with a girl's emotions...or reading a girl's emotions. And he knows how to insult men, but outside Kyoko I don't think he knows how to be rude to a woman. Or I could be wrong, we just haven't seen Sho having to be mean to a woman.
Ren however seems to be a pro at the "I'm being mean without it being obvious" sort of thing. Yeah...and besides. Sho didn't see much of Kyoko's sadness over her mother because she didn't want to cry in front of him. Ren saw a lot more of it. So, I think Ren would be the first to react because he knows more about how much Kyoko's mom hurt her.

Oh yea! Now that I think about it, you're quite right. Ren WOULD feel more strongly towards Kyoko's mom than Sho cause she would always go to hom instead of where Sho could see her. PROPS!! mrgreen

though sho is stupid, i don't think he'd be so blind as to not know how deeply hurt kyoko's mom has left kyoko. at school, sho'd have his own life playing with other boys so i of course his self absorbed self couldn't bother to look kyoko's way and notice that the other girls treated her badly, but since he was with kyoko so much outside of school, i don't think he could have not noticed. especially since sho never saw kyoko cry over anything other than her mom, i think he knows basically that kyoko+kyoko's mom=kyoko being hurt, even if it's not something he understands, i think that he at least is able to feel that.
but it's true that sho doesn't really seem like the kind who would be able to be mean to a woman. and if it came down to arguing, i couldn't really see sho winning over kyoko's mom. truly he really may be rather useless against kyoko's mom, the most useful thing i can think him to do would be to drag kyoko away so that she wouldn't have to bear all the bad stuff her mom would attack her with.
actually, now that i think about it, i sort of wish that kanae would take care of kyoko's mom for her. kanae seems very capable of doing so, though she showed her weakness at first when her "rival" appeared for the commercial audition, now that she's acknowledged kyoko as a friend, i could see her being absolutely fierce towards kyoko's mom, and since she's also a woman, there would be no restraint of any kind and she could also get physical and slap her if it came to that.

Opo, yeah! Kanae! There's someone who could be openly hostile. Since Kanae has been showing up less, I would love to see how she would react to Kyoko's mom.
Hmm...but there's been so many chapters. I can't recall if Kanae knows how Kyoko must have been treated. I know that Sho, Ren, and Lory all know (to different degrees) how badly Kyoko was hurt by her mother. I can't remember if Kanae knows or not. She saw Kyoko acting that time with Maria, but I can't remember if Kanae figured it out.
Oh, and I don't think Sho doesn't know about Kyoko's mom and how she hurt Kyoko, but I don't think he was impacted in the same way that Ren was. Because Kyoko tried not to cry in front of Sho. So, he knows that Kyoko was hurt, but more of his memories are of the Kyoko that is happy and noble, not of a Kyoko that is sad because of her mother. Ren knew Kyoko for less time when they were younger, but a bigger fraction of that time is with her sad.
See...it's all math. lol, never thought I'd use it for analyzing manga.

Hmm...I can see Kyoko's mom coming back as a problem that eventually everyone would try to help her with. Since Kyoko's mom is probably a very fierce business woman, I can imagine her showing up after hearing about Kyoko's role in a movie deciding that now that Kyoko is making a lot of money, as her mother she deserves a cut of the price or else Kyoko is not given permission to act. And since Kyoko is a minor, that would become a major problem. Since in later volumes, Kyoko and Ren's relationship becomes closer in terms of knowing the situation better, I believe that Ren probably would be the first to act. Though, despite his "demon king" appearance, I just can't imagine Kyoko's mom backing down that easilly, in which case Lory would most likely have to step up for all the legalities and such. Sho, though he is aware of Kyoko's sadness towards her mother, I don't think he fully understands the depth of it, but even an idiot can rely on his instincts and react. Sho I think would more likely yell at Kyoko to snap out of it and fight back. Then he'd try to explain it like how he wasn't trying to help her, he just wanted her to be herself again, or something like that...I don't know.
Speaking of which, I wonder what Reino would do in this situation....

XDDD now everyone's being brought into this theoretical situation!! they ought to just gather everyone up into an anti-kyoko's mom army and overpower her with the force of their super group love for kyoko heart
but then in that case, i could imagine kyoko's mom growing to become a giant ogre of sorts and crashing through and breaking down the army...ok...so maybe that became too comical a situation, but......reino.....it's been so long since reino's appeared that i really wonder if he'll ever come back...

yes, all of them should join together, especially anyone who has had a dark aura like Kyoko. Ren, Kanae, there's been some others too...oh Maria! I want Kyoko's mom to be frightened of some powerful source she can't see! Because I want that bullying woman to be scared. The thing that can scare you most is what you don't see.
I think Reino will come back. We have to keep in mind that chapters are only coming out once a month so it seems a lot longer since we've seen Reino than the amount of time we've actually seen him...or something. Remember, right now Reino is in America (If I'm remembering correctly), so he is out of the picture for a reason. I'm sure he'll come back.
Besides, we've gone a while without seeing Kanae and Lory and Maria before but they always come back.
Hmm...but about Reino and the situation with Kyoko's mom. I don't want to think about it because I don't want him to be there. The only reason I want Sho to be there is so that Ren can beat him to saving (or helping) Kyoko this time. Yeah...that would be fun.

speaking of characters coming back, i'd really like that evil director guy from vols 2&3 to come back!!! he said he wanted to work with kyoko more so he's gotta come back and get kyoko in on something that he's directing!! (and do you think that the beagle band could come back to japan bigger than sho maybe since they went to new york and all, the least they could do is give him tough competition, but since new york is like the top of the music industry and all that, if go to new york and come back to japan and they had even some success in ny, wouldn't that sorta automatically put them above sho?...)
and all other things aside, i'm wondering how kyoko's mom is gonna come into the manga....like will she even bother to look kyoko up and at least find out where she's living? will she even bother to contact kyoko or will she just storm into the lme hq and demand to see whoever's in charge of kyoko? could she possibly come back just to disown kyoko or will she really think that kyoko's useful enough to get her back? i really wonder about whether or not kyoko's mom will see worth in kyoko even now that she's gotten some note worthy jobs, like in nana (nana spoiler) with shin's family and how his dad just didn't want to be any part of shin's life because of the whole people in entertainment get all their dirty laundry hung out thing maybe kyoko's mom'll be like that instead of fighting to get a peace of kyoko's earnings or whatever. i kinda would rather kyoko's mom be that kinda person than be the kinda person like in xxxholic where the mom takes complete control of her kid's life and manipulates everything for her own benefit, using the kid as a tool. of course nobody could mistake kyoko's mom for anything but cold, frigid, unfeeling, and any other synonyms or related words/phrases you could throw in, but if she turns out to be the kind of weak personality who exploits her child after abandoning her, then i would really find it hard to see her redeem herself even one tenth as much as sho has. she'll become like an absolute monstrosity of human flaw and wickedness in the series.

Maybe that's going to be the big twist! I actually think a good way to introduce Kyoko's mom is by having her work as a manager or something for Kyoko. Then it would get really intersting. But that's just my idea.
