White speckled wings ruffled as hot pink hooves found themselves against firm ground once again. It was a wonderful experience, flying, and Torment couldn't get enough of it. Her smaller wings, however, could, and did quite frequently.

She threw her head back, forcing the tuft of maroon curls covering her forehead to fall back behind her ears, and she eyed the area she had landed in. Her wings needed a brief break from the flight, and her stomach growled, demanding attention. It was wonderful, this new found freedom she had gained with growing. The taller and stronger she got, the further and longer Father allowed her to be away from him. She enjoyed wandering alone, hunting alone, flying alone, although competition was much more fun.

Gray eyes turned back in the direction of the grove her father dwelled in. She'd find a way to break free of his rule, just as she knew Tarnish would break their father one day. Perhaps she'd leave the overpowering to him, and watch from the sidelines. Either way, she was going to be totally free, one of these days, and she couldn't wait.

Musing to herself, she refocused her thoughts back onto the stomach that continued to voice it's fury at her, and attempted to decide on what would make a good midday meal for the halfbreed.

Having found a stream on his way back towards 'home' after his chat with the filly who had been as dark as midnight itself he had paused to both take a drink and get a good look at himself. It wasn't often that he got a chance to to this; to examine who he was beyond what Father said he was. He knew that he was more than the stallion gave him credit for and he would continue being far better than he ever expected.

He took a sip of the water. Fresh... Perfectly fresh and deliciously clean. It meant that Father was nowhere to be found. It was far too good to have that wretched scent out of his nose and away from his tastebuds.

Her mind continued to concentrate on food. What to decide on... she could try for a ferret, or perhaps a rabbit? She wasn't terribly hungry, but she was in mood for more flesh than some measly rabbit could provide. Maybe a lion... that would put up some fight. Or a buffalo, even. Though they seemed to have more fat on their bodies than actually yummy meat.

She rolled her eyes, unable to come to a decision. Instead, she opted to travel to the nearby stream, and see what creatures had wandered there for a drink. Perhaps that would help her make up her mind, when the food was physically standing there in front of her.

It wasn't long before her striped legs took her to her destination, and she paused to laugh at the sight she came upon. Having expected to find some horrid little beastie leaning over to drink, she found in its place a large horrid beastie, and that beastie was none other than her own sibling.

"Scaring away all the fresh food, I see." she snorted, approaching her youngest brother with a smirk on her face.

He winced the moment he heard his sister's voice, turning that strained look into a broad grin that was most certainly forced just for her. "Blaming me, are you? It must be nice to try to put the blame on others when it's your own fault you can't find food... Too loud in both sound and coloration."

She could take that one and sit on it. He was in no mood to put up with her unles... Oh, maybe he could turn this into something he could use.

She laughed, enjoying the sound of her own voice as it rung high and loud.

"My coloring is too loud, dear sister? Have you looked in the reflection lately?" She grinned, walking over to n** at his bright pink wings before backing up and away from his jaws, horns, or hoove's reach. She knew, although he was the baby of the family, he still had the capability for violence. Looks were deceiving, and she had learned that lesson well early on in life. The scar on the back of her neck was proof enough.

"You couldn't hide yourself if you tried, Taint. Your frilly mark on your side and wings alone make you stand out in a crowd. At least my coloring is toned down, like Father's, instead of bright and annoying, like yours and Mother's."

He bore his own scares from that encounter, just as she did and, as far as he was concerned, it would do her well to remember that. He snarled as she mentioned the source of his pale colors as well as the mark on his side that was more of a scar to his appearance than ones that could be left by any fangs. "Call me like her again, Torment and I'll finish what she failed to twice."

Only upon realizing how ugly the snarl made him look as he turned back towards the stream did the look fade away. His tones softened as he closed his eyes, holding his head high. he folded his wings down, covering the markings on his sides. "Your mouth is far louder than my coloration will ever be... If you learned to keep it shut you might not be all that terrible."

She snorted in his direction, but pressed no further. Torment had no doubt in her mind that she could handle and return any attack Taint could manage, but she wasn't about to incite any fight, not when she was hungry, at least.

She came closer, and stepped beside him, staring at her own reflection in the water. She was beautiful, and she knew it. Perhaps not as beautiful as her brother, but then again, there weren't many that rivaled his coloring. The only thing her Mother did was give them beautiful genes, and that was all she was worth.

"Each of us have our own flaws," she responded back, not even caring to raise her head to meet his eyes. She was too intent on watching herself, admiring her long maroon locks. "Mine may be my mouth, but yours by far is your looks. While I can shut my mouth and hide mine, you don't really get that same option, now, do you?"

She knew full and well that Taint had the hardest burden to bear out of all three of Plague and Diabetia's children. While Tarnish was born with his own evil appearance, at least Torment was given her dark coloring and dark shades of pink. Her youngest brother, on the other hand, received all of the horrid bright happy colorings from their mother, and Torment knew it couldn't be easy, living like that. But, for a poofy frilly stallion, he sure thought alot of himself, and what he lacked in appearance, he made up for with his tongue and wit.

"My looks are far more of an asset than your mouth is, Torment. They might be decieving, but deciet can be very useful... What kind of use does the world have for a mare who can't control what comes from her mouth?" He smirked as he straightened himself out, turning away from his sister and the stream.

"Some flaws are greater than others... The challenge is taking what Father views as our flaws and turning them into something that we can take pride in. Do you still believe everything he says, dear sister?"

"Why shouldn't I?" She snorted, beginning to feel irritable as she ignored his earlier comment, "He's got no reason to lie to us, after all. Sometimes I wonder if you're simply holding a grudge since he was the toughest on you as a foal. I may not care for him as a Father or a creature in general, but he did teach us pretty damn well on how to take care of ourselves."

Gray eyes watched as the stallion turned away, and she paused to look back at her reflection in the stream before following suit. She wasn't that loud, was she?

"You lack ambition, Torment. You are going to wind up just like her." He said those words, intending them to sting, knowing that they would hit his sister hard. He was even prepaired for whatever attack she might throw at him for saying it. She might act tougher than he was but he had size as an advantage. "Obviously you haven't learned enough just yet."

Anger burned in her stare as she glared at him, quickening her pace to the point where she could step in front of and cut him off from continuing his walk away from her. Oh no, she was not letting him walk away from her after saying that.

"Ambition. YOU want to talk to ME about ambition?"

She scoffed in his face, hoping she was overly obnoxious in doing so. As frilly as he might be, he still had fangs and a horn, and she was overemotional at this point. Father had taught her not to attack while she experienced an overwhelmkng amount of emotions, and she was doing her best not to simply lunge out and attack the quippy brute.

"At least she managed to get away from him. And at least she knew what she was doing when she tried to kill me. Unlike you, who's much to full of love and compassion. Must I remind you that it was you who saved my life that day we first met her? You're just a goody-goody, Taint. That pink must have absorbed into your skull and turned your brain into mush."

She snorted, and kicked the dirt under her hoof at him. Childish, yes, she knew it was, but she knew better than to use her natural weapons. Instead, immaturity took over. It angered her to recall the fact that she owed her life to him. If it hadn't been for her youngest sibling, she'd have been dead the moment Dia had struck out at her. So, instead of burying the confusion and anger inside of her, she let it out, laughed at it, used it against him. Love... love was not an option. And Hell would freeze over before she'd even think of repaying him for his deed.

His facial expression remained neutral as his sister stepped in front of him. He wouldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that she had caught him offguard, even if only slightly. "No, dear sister, I don't want to talk to you about ambition... That would be why I turned away from you. Now, if you'll excuse me."

A smirk curved his mouth as he moved to step around her, turning back to face his sister after listening to her 'speech'. His eyes had darkened, smirk curling into a twisted smile. "... You think I saved you out of love or compassion, Torment? You honestly believe that I kept you from her fangs because I wanted you to live?" He snorted, tossing his head back with a dark chuckle. "You're more of a fool than I thought you were... I knocked you out of the way because I didn't want her to kill you before I had a chance to. If you are to die by anyone's fangs, hooves or horns they will be mine... Remember that so I won't have to keep someone from ending your pathetic little life ever again."

She scowled at him, her fangs hanging over her bottom lip as her eyes narrowed in his direction. The mare watched as her sibling once again moved, but continued to face her, his own speech ringing in her ears.

Letting out another loud snort, Torment's glare bore into his pink eyes.

"You couldn't kill me if you tried," she growled, feeling more than just a little pissed off. Although his words weren't exactly an outright threat, the intentions were there, loud and clear.

Dark magenta hooves scraped against the ground as she turned her back to him, herself walking away this time. Taint had a way about him that got on her nerves worse than anything.

"You're the absolute least of my worries, brother dearest." she commented casually, the anger subsiding as her eyes no longer had to gaze upon the stallion. "Why, I'd be far more worried about Mother harming me before I'd worry about the likes of YOU doing any damage."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 09, 2007 10:06 am

"Of course you would be more worried about her, sister. She has tried to harm you before and I, other than that slight tousle we had when we were children, have not. Just because I have not does not mean that I will not." He snorted, giving his head a toss that sent curls fluttering against his neck. He was no more worried about whatever threat that she posed than she was him. Had one intended to kill the other flat out then it would have happened by now...

It hadn't, of course, but that didn't mean it would not one day... Or that, if that day came, he would spare her for interfering. Something was coming and he would not let her stop it, whatever it was. "You should worry more about yourself, Torment... And who it is that you are growing up to be." He called after her, unable to keep himself from laughing.
