I'm just curious to know what other people have shelled out for their costumes, since it can be a time-consuming process.
I've spent...entirely too much over the past few years.
My first cosplay was actually reeeally easy, and cost me around $65 to get the supplies for, and then make.
This year.. Well, it's just been a bad year, with my help not helping, and material piling up... Ugh. It's been an expensive year, and I'll leave it at that.

well i plan out how to make it and what i need do reasrech on that item and then match a pirce range to it.....it's actually a good way to save money but if you plane at least a year in advance you could really work on detail if you take a year

I'm a broke-joker so i'm not entirely sure how much i've spent on my current costume project (etna of disgaea)... I buy things a few at a time and have had to buy new things when the old ones dont work.
I actually think that since i bought the skirt (leather) and top from goodwill (for a total of like $10 i saved a whole crap-load of $$$. and then the boots that i spraypainted and altered were from goodwill for only $14 so i'm going to guess all that and the extrapaints, wire, cloth and other materials etc... under $60 so far.

My most expensive costume I bought off of eBay, for $80 (with shipping), and now I'm going to alter it, only my mother won't let me do it myself... so tailoring fees in there too. Probably in the $100 range.
The least I've spent on a costume is $0.30, 'cause I already happened to own most of the pieces.

i've spent about $100 on this misa outfit but it wasn't all at once. i had gotten the dress like a year ago.
i think $100 is my limit. i would love to get a more detailed outfit or a battle royal outfit. i normally just huit up a thrift store.

o h i w i s h { }{ t o t a l } 73k | 950k O.o you wern't allowed to alter your own costume? Home alterations are half the fun (aka frustration) but i guess if you're spending good money to just buy a pre fab then it's better to get it altered then maybe mess it up (like i tend to) yourself. Hm *ponder* I wish is could get my boots professionally altered so they weren't so big about the calf... but i don't have the $$$ for that *sigh*

Well I try to make my cosplay on my own if possible >.< I have to commit I bought two of my cossis on ebay... v.v But if I make them on my own they are more expensive then when I would buy them on ebay... T__T
I would say on each I spent 100-200 Euros v.v" Some have Weapons and for some you need special stuff so some of them are expensive. ^^"

I've only spent about 50 dollars on mine..
But I love it so much more than that. My friends helped with each piece, and I remember every time spent on it. xD; Watching cartoons and movies... Throwing sharp pointy needles at my friend because she threw her cat at my head...
Good times.
If anyone screwed up my costume, I'd be... Well, sad, yes.. But it also adds to the battle scars. 8D

The most I ever paid for a costume was about 450 dollars. It's an amazing, screen accurate replica though, not just a costume. Slave Leia. =3
I've spent lots of money on supplies for costumes and stuff though, some I never even bothered to finish. I think next year's convention I'm gonna work on finishing all the old costumes I never got around to completing so I can get rid of some of this fabric.
I've also sold costumes, and they usually go for around 45-65.
