This jail is real old, from back before jails had running water and electricity. Our tour guide said that the longest time most people survived there was about 2 months or something, because back during the cold war they had all of these POWs and stuff that they held there so they had hundreds of people... and the jail wasn't made to even hold that many people. She said there were all kinds of diseases and everything, at one point the floor was like an inch thick of dead lice and other crap. The wardens only came in once or twice a day to clear out the dead bodies, so basically if your neighbor died after the warden left, then you might be sitting there next to a dead stinking rotting body for like 12 hours in the middle of summer...

This is a picture from the outside of the jail..

Another one from the outside of the front

They used this to bring the prisoners to the jail, they just kind of shoved them all in there. Some of them died on the way to the jail.

This is where they hanged people... notice the two white fuzzy dots at the top eek

A college owns the school, now... but these stairs were unsafe.. and some girl who goes to the college was working on a project and was late to class which was only one story down so she decided to just try those stairs instead of going back around, and when she stepped on the first step she felt something push her backwards, and as soon as she hit the wall the stairs collapsed.

This is of a torture device they found in the basement. Our tour guide used that girl as an example.... they would strap your feet down in a box filled with heavy rocks, and tie your wrists in then pull the ropes tight to lift your arms in the air... then a guy would come in and whip you with the cat of nine tails to like an inch of your life, then they'd leave you there for a while.

This is from one of the rooms inside... and just to let you know, my camera never takes blurry pictures.

Our tour guide kind of shut us in to show us what it would be like to be one of the prisoners, and 'the last thing you hear is this..' *slam* There was another door on the other side of that one that's made of heavy steel.

A pic of how they have the walls covered in steel so the prisoners couldn't try to dig through the bricks since the bricks are kind of soft.
I have a few more but those were the most interesting ones... and my camera kind of died halfway through the tour which pissed me off. scream
