Ness had been thinking as she practiced her gymnastic moves in a field near her home. With all these things that seem to happen to her lately, maybe she should learn how to defend herself. After all, if noone else wanted to be her hero as she believed was the situation; she would be her own hero. She considered her smart and tough enough.
She knew she wasn't supposed to be anywhere near the swamps anymore. Her human had forbade her to go there, for her own safety of course. Still, Ness knew that she wouldn't find Kit unless she went there. If she were lucky, she could find him near the outskirts... Then, she could maybe persuade him to follow her out of it. She landed on a tree almost in that exact region. ~I sure hope grace doesn't find out I've been here. Don't want my ice cream box to find itself not refilled in the morning.~

Kitsune shook his body lazily after a productive morning. The air around him was hot and sticky, and he rested under a shady area to try and cool his body off. He hated staying sweaty, and it felt good to give himself a moment of air. He had woken up early for a fast paced morning run, and finished with some usual excercises. Now, he just lurked around as usual, happy that most of his productivity was over.
The weather around him was getting warmer, and it was making him more lazy on the hottest of days. Since today in general was cooler then most, he was able to start off early, and give himself time to relax before returning to work again.
With a slight yawn, he left the shady area, only to wander around, though in a more comfortable way then usual. He wasn't hiding at the moment, just comfortably strolling about.

Ness flew from tree to tree trying to find a safe place to look down into the swamp a little. Her sapphire eyes peered around looking. Then, her eyes caught a movement. It looked like fire. On the button! Ness crawled along a branch nearby to him. She looked around, making sure no other coffees were around.
Not seeing any, she fluttered down to the ground trying to land a little more gracefully. She was still sitting by the tree, a few feet away from him remembering his personal space issues. "Hello, Kitsune. Do you think.. I could maybe talk to you for a moment? If you aren't too busy..."

Kitsune turned his head quickly to see that same female from just a bit ago. She was approaching him much differently this time, and he eyed her cautiously at first, but then remained more calm. "No I am not busy, on a break currently." He said, kindly. It seemed something was on her mind, and while Kitsune wasn't the best at dealing with others, he turned to face her pollitely.
"What do you need, then?" He said, still watching her, as he always did. "You know I am not so good with talking.." He pawed at the ground uncomfortably.

She looked around for a second taking a breath before she spoke her mind. "Well, I wanted to know.... If you would be my mentor, and if you would teach me how to fight. You train all the time; so you must be really good and able to train me." She watched him intently. She stayed right where she was respecting his personal space. She was glad to be reminded of his lack of conversation. She forgot that part.

Fighting? Now, this was something Kitsune could deal with! He was worried at first, a strange female approaching him like that, he didn't know what to expect. But now he was much calmer knowing all he had to do was talk about training. "I seem to be popular with training, but I don't mind." He grinned at her, one of the first ones he made in awhile. "What do you want to learn, we should start there." He said, nodding to himself while thinking. Females.. they were complicated to train, and he pondered the thought for a moment or two before speaking again. "What are some physical strengths of yours?"

Ness sat and thought for a minute. "Well, I am pretty limber.. or maybe agile is a better word for when someone is fighting. And, I am pretty resilient.. so, I can heal quick? I got thrown against a wall recently. It knocked me unconscious... and then when I woke up, my head hurt real bad for a while.. but maybe a day of sleep.. and I was mostly back to normal. But, I'm pretty active.. and I have a lot of energy." She sat there wagging her tail to and fro.
He seemed to be willing. She was having an inner 'YES' moment.

"What, agile in speed or what?" He frowned, only because he couldn't understand her details completely. "Are you fast, or do you make quick movements? Agile can mean many things." He nodded to her, more calmly now.
A day of sleep? That was a lot! But, he kept putting into his head that she was a female and those were the correct statistics and whatever. "Energy is good." He said, continuing to nod, "But you need strength, and you have to be able to read an opponents movements. Training a body can give only so much, but training the mind is the best. If you are able to read an opponent, strength isn't even needed." He loved getting serious on this subject.

What a smart guy!! She immediately lost any second guessing she felt about coming there that day. If strength wasn't that important... she could make a list of people who had one coming if they wanted to attack her again.
Ness rubbed her chin with her hand. "Well, when I say agile. Like, I can bend my body in almost any direction. I can stand on my hands, do flips, all kinds of stuff. And.. I am not sure how strong I am.. but I must have some kind of strength in my body if I can be thrown into a building and be ok in a day or so.." She rubbed the back of her head with the same hand she had been rubbing her chin with.
She gave a sheepish cheesy grin. "You... say amazing things. I want to be just like you!" @w@ She had a steadfast earnest look in her eyes. Well, maybe /just like/ was overdoing it a bit. Still, she really did want to learn how to fight.

"Ok, that kind of movement is good, that will help you not only avoid attacks, but create your own. Most just rely on their fist or legs, but if you can bend around as you wish, you have more room for taking control over a situation." Strength wasn't really his concern anymore, that was something that took a long time to fully achieve.
"Be like me? Its better to be your own warrior." Something he lived by, of course. "But anyhow, what is this opponant like, who has treated you so ruthlessly so far. Why were they able to throw you against something?" That was his biggest question at the moment, it was almost impossible for someone to ever grab Kitsune. Maybe she was off guard? He sternly awaited her answer.

Ness nodded. "Yeah. You're right. I should be my own warrior. That's why I came here. I think the best person to be my hero is myself. Not that I'm ready for it now. but, with some work, I could be."
At his request of her explanation, her expression went a little grim. "That.. is a sad story. But, the sum of it was just that. A big coffee attacked my friend. I rushed in to push my friend out of the way. My friend isn't very strong. But, the coffee just swung a backhand into my stomach. It hit me so hard that I flew at least a good ten feet. I hit the outside of a building. That cafe is all made out of solid wood pikes and boards. She rubbed the back of her neck that had been gouged the worst.
Her eyes still thinking of those things. "When I woke up, some other stupid candy had come in and saved my friend. I hate that guy. I failed my friend, and I don't want to ever be able to say that again." Admitting openly that she had failed, that burned her pride. She almost gritted her teeth while saying it.

The concept of a hero never really meant anything in Kitsune's mind, but he understood others fascinations with the word.
"Why the hell were they attacking you in the first place? That's ridiculous, a fight should be made even when proclaimed." He scoffed, and smacked his tail against the ground. "That coffee probably enjoyed knowing that they had the advantage, and thus too it, knowing they could walk away victorious. That isn't strength." He almost laughed to himself, only because he hated seeing fighting used wrongly. "That is just being a jerk."
"Now, you desire the ability to protect others, and yourself?" He eyed her carefully, at least happy that she didn't want to just, be strong for the heck of it. "If you carry yourself that way, and keep in your mind what your main desire is, you will be able to overcome the worst of enemies."
Slinking his tail over to the side, he scooped up his sword and carried it from behind. "Come with me." He said, while abrubtly turning his direction opposite where they stood.

Ness just had a sad confused look when he asked why it happened in the first place. "You know.. if anyone ever finds out why.. I'd really like to know. The coffee who did it was also my friend before that. I mean.. I guess... I know he doesn't really like candies too much, but we didn't know he was there. If I had known he was there, I wouldn't have let Yuki go out there. The coffee seems to mostly only like girls. "He got really mad when I tried to protect my friend. He turned to me and was all like '*points to me* You're next' ..." She sat there thinking about it. It really did bother her a lot to not understand why that all happened.
Hearing Kitsune say he was a jerk. That put a smile on her face, and she looked up at him with a grin. "You're right! He is a jerk!" She then thought about that for the first time. Yeah. He was being mean, so she shouldn't blame herself for not winning that time. Maybe she shouldn't grieve losing him so much.
Hearing him tell her to follow him, she sprung up immediately and started to fly just behind him, following where he led. "Yes sir!" She found she was liking him rather well.

Kitsune led her to a lower part of the swamp, and expected her to notice how the area was specifically scoped out. "This is my training area." Most coffees stayed away from him, and left him alone, just as he did to them. He was never disturbed while training, so he figured having Ness there wouldn't be a problem either.
The area had cut up logs, carved up branches, and many burrowed areas of land for better sprinting. It had many of cut up, small trees, and Kitsune usuall had to drag more down their after his sword would devour one. His training usually consisted of sword handling, so that was the only signs of usage in the plot of land.
"Now, for your training, I am still trying to figure things out." What should she improve on? "If you are good with being flexible, maybe you should attack using your legs, so first you should practice strengthing your arms for balance. If you get your arms strong, you could use them as your legs, and your legs vice versa." Kitsune had seen that method of fighting used before, and he found it quite impressive when achieved. It took a ton of practice of course.

Her eyes looked around studying this little area. "Wow.. this is like.. a sanctuary huh..," she said quietly, mostly to herself. She followed him into the area and listened to what he said. That sounded easy enough. "Um. Ok.. but, what do you recommend to do that? Just... pushups? Or... lifting heavy stuff?" This was where she lacked. Ness knew of lots of things, but she was clueless where learning how to train came in.
"You are right. I'm sure my arms aren't nowhere as strong as my legs. I dance with my legs alot, so those get plenty worked up. I suppose my arms could use a good workout." She nodded. She felt kind of humbled to be there. She felt a warmth in her heart as she felt like this was just the first step to being able to be someone who could protect her friends.
