She never really had nightmares... She didn't know what nightmares were. Innocence at its purest state to the point of near impossibility, but such a thing only held itself aloft on a spider's silk.
It was inevitable that it wouldn't last, as Elyssia would mature to be a grown Unitaur and now reality. But for now the Elders left her to her own devices, too confused in their own breaking of dreams to offer consolation to a child who had no concept of death - nor that she was orphaned.
For a long time, perhaps aeons, there had been conflict with the Naga. A conflict that still sparked encounters even to this day in sporatic bursts, their treaty shaking unsteadily on its crumbling last legs. One of these conflicts, as you may have guessed, ended in the untimely demise of Elyssia's mother and father who fought to protect what was their own.
Leaving the unknowing child in the care of the Elders, Elyssia had become accustomed to this long ago. Often her parents sought time to themselves and no one among them was considered a stranger. Everyone knew everyone else, Elyssia was in good care at all times. Together, her parents went to stave off the savagery of a Naga with a thirst for new control.
Needless to say, they never returned. The Elders were at a loss and somewhat carelessly they allowed Elyssia to raise herself as they began to speak amongst eachother as to what was to be done should the Naga seek power once more.
It was in this newfound freedom that Elyssia found a wanderlust, and so she began to slowly venture out further and further from the comforts of home. What -was- home, anyway? Where had Momma and Papa gone? And can I find them on my own? No one else seems to want to. Why not?
Rumors were inevitable now that Unitaur were still alive as one of the smallest among them began to slowly venture out.
