NOTE: This is very, very rough. I'm trying to flesh it out in the guild. Maybe you guys can help me out getting some of the details worked out.
I don't know much about X Men and all that jazz, but I do know a little bit. And from the way that Old Man Logan is presented as an NPC, we can all pretty much guess that he's a knockoff of the X Man Wolverine, right?
Well, a large part of many of the X Men comics was devoted to the origins of Wolverine, who was found to be a part of a project called Weapon X, a goverment project that turns people into living weapons. Weapon X, in the Marvel Universe, engineers superkillers. Wolverine was one such monster. But it was also true that Wolverine was often referred to as the "Weapon X."
Where am I going with all this?
I'm suggesting that there may be a parallel between our Old Man Logan and the Weapon X known as Wolverine. And whose the only NPC in the Gaian world with an X in his name? You guessed it, Labtech X.
I think there's a good chance that Logan is Labtech X. And I think there may be more to his story than just an alter-ego.
It could be that Old Man Logan himself underwent the same kind of crazy projects and experiments that Wolverine did, engineering Logan into a superkiller. So is the helpful fishing guy a ruse, a disguise... or does Logan not even know he is Labtech X.
Of course, if this is all true, it would mean something else, something way cooler than all this:
Labtech X isn't working alone. In fact, he's not even the top guy. He's a pawn and a drone. A killing machine and nothing more. Which is pretty freakin' cool.
Unanswered questions-
-Is Old man Logan a mutant? What kind of powers is he hiding behind those big ol' googles?
-Does teh Snipah fit in here somewhere?
-Where's Lab X? What kind of company engineered Labtech X?

Sounds awesome, but perhaps the Logan - X thing is more similar to the Jekyll/Hyde story.
And if he is a part of something similar to Weapon X, does this mean he has powers similar to that of Wolverine's?
That's an amazing thought, and it seems plausible, I just don't know if the plot writers are that gifted at writing that sort of stuff into the storyline.
Maybe I don't give the plot devs enough credit. razz

The most likely people to have engineered a superkilling machine would be the Von Helsens and a government agency of some sort.
I think the Von Helsens would be totally lame and suck lots 'n' lots.
Now, if they introduced some sort of government, it could get really sweet.
I doubt that would happen though; too complicated.

And if he does have powers, my best guess is that they're eye-related, like cyclops or something. Hence, those big ol' goggles he's always wearing.

@ Hermes: I was thinking some kinda' CORP, like G CORP and S CORP, would be responsible for the "Labtech X" program. I doubt (if it happens) it will be government-related (though that would be friggin sweet), and Von Helson interaction is plausible.

And if he does have powers, my best guess is that they're eye-related, like cyclops or something. Hence, those big ol' goggles he's always wearing. And thanks. And it seems that may be the case. Sorta like Cyclops? (more X-men stuff) surprised

D= Yeah, they don't exactly seem like the type to come up with something like Labtech X. Slander is more of their thing, not murder-machines. I was thinking a whole separate thing: X CORP, where all they did was make Xs (Oooh, so maybe X isn't the only one... cue dramatic music!).

The original X wouldn't work properly since it was a first try.
When a bunch of other more Evil than neutral Xs come, our X will be torn between his brothers and the good of Gaia.
He will have the power to save us.
Or destroy us entirely.

When a bunch of other more Evil than neutral Xs come, our X will be torn between his brothers and the good of Gaia.
He will have the power to save us.
Or destroy us entirely. That could be how the Devs would fit in a 'What If' plot, one plot (the real one) based on him choosing the light side, and the What If being the dark side. surprised
