It had been a long day, long...but not any minute of it wasted. The fun-loving stallion Oathkeeper had spent every good waking moment doing things from racing the rolling of the waves along the ocean's shore to taking a refereshing dip in the nearbye river. He'd even gathered a few shimmering sea shells for his Kawani friend, Nokomei to weave into jewelery. In fact, as he was stopping by the teepee in which he commonly resisided, he left the shells in a small woven basket and spontaniously decided he'd stay out even later today.
Normally the stallion would return home for the evenings and either lay on out in a clearing by the teepee to watch the star come out, or get ready to settle in after a day or play or adventuring. This time, he felt like seeking out someplace new---someplace special to see if the stars could be better viewed. And so, Oathkeeper took off as the sun now hung low in the sky; seeking this so-called "special place" whilst there was still light upon the land.

Auriga opened her eyes and looked up at the reddening skies. The long grass swayed lazily in the gentle dusk breeze and she smiled just as lazily. She had been exhausted from all her exploring and adverturing and meeting new Soquili. So much so, she had found this field, with it's soft grass, and been unable to resist a peaceful and dream-filled sleep. And to make it even more perfect, she had woken up in time for sunset.
I certainly am becoming nocturnal... Auriga smiled to herself as she got up and shook herself off, her long silver mane dotted with blades of grass. She looked to the sky, noticed no clouds and her smile widened.
The stars will be beautiful tonight....

Oathkeeper came bolting out into the field in little to no time. It was more elevated that the field back near the teepee so he assumed even more of the night sky could be seen from here. This is perfect! he thought to himself, then suddenly his eyes fell upon something...more-so...someone...who happened to be a very lovely resemblance of the night sky. As he approached this someone, he came to find she was a mare, smiling in the last bit of the twilight; she seemed so peaceful.
He came up to her softly, "Hello there. Not interupting anything, am I?" he asked in his usual polite tone. "If not, I was wondering if I my presence wouldn't bother you if I stayed here to observe the sky" he continued, hoping the mare would share the field and that he wasn't intruding on her personal space.

Auriga closed her eyes for a moment and listened. Silence, only the rustling of the grass. A slight chill following the wind as the sun disappeared, taking all the warmth with it. Then Auriga heard hooves, and opened her eyes to find herself faced with a striking white male, with braided hair. She smiled as he spoke to her in a soft voice.
"You're not interrupting anything.... I was just enjoying the sunset...." She nodded skywards and turned to better face the stallion.
"A star watching? Really?! Oh, of course you can stay!" Auriga was positively delighted. The stars were always better with company to discuss them with.
"My name is Auriga, starwatcher..... What is yours?"

Oathkeeper was pleased, she was one of, if not the most pleasant mare he'd ever come across. "Oathkeeper" he answered back, "And your lovely name is very befitting. For you much resemble one of nature's greatest wonders, the ever-magnificent night sky."
With a nod and a curtious 'thank you' at Auriga's welcoming of his company to stargaze, he settled down nearbye her; close enough for good conversation, but not too close as to be wary of making a lady feel uncomfortable. "So, I then take it stargazing happens to be a favorite hobby of yours? Its one of my many too" he began, to pass the time as the brightest of stars became evermore visible upon the horizon. "I much enjoy scenery at all times of day---but you gotta admit, the night sky is one of the most wonderous and facinating things of nature..." he trailed off, leaving open coversation for Auriga.
Most stallions would just talk and talk, but Oathkeeper was wiser; he knew to share conversation rather than hog it all. Plus, he honestly did love a good debate or meaningful open conversation. Other's opinions and knowledged facinated him to no end and this mare seemed like just the kind, intellegent soquili to have such sort of discussion with.

Auriga chuckled slightly. "Why thank you.... not so many realise I'm named after a constellation! How very observant of you, Oathkeeper..."
Despite having been lying down for most of the day, Auriga settled herself down in the grass, facing Oathkeeper. "I agree completely! I have seen some beautiful sights when out running around, but the night sky never fails to amaze me.... Especially on as clear a night as this, you can see everything!"
She smiled widely and looked at Oathkeeper. How wonderful to find a male who loved conversation AND the stars! And a handsome one no less! It certainly was her lucky night.. She tried not to stare as she looked him over. Pastel braids fell over an ivory coat, and framed ice-blue eyes. But they were not unnerving, or piercing. They were soft and relaxed. The marking on his chest caught her eye as she turned to look away.
Bah, how nosy she could be at times...

Oathkeeper smiled. Being as observant as he usually was, he noticed the mare examining him. He wouldn't have minded her questioning why he looked the way he did and even would have given polite explination, but however, the converstation wasn't about him and he didn't want to launch into anything about himself at spontinaity. And anyway, the stars were out even more now, so he'd figure he'd stick to the subject unless it was changed by Auriga.
"I always believe, that no matter how big everything seems...when looking at the night sky---it takes that all away. It makes you feel small compared to what vast amount of existance could lie amounst those stars" Oathkeeper replied. Of coarse, feeling small to something so great wasn't a bad thing to the stallion, but a magnificent one indeed. "It makes you feel---like you're not alone" he almost whispered, his head now turned upright to gaze in all angles above him.

Auriga lay back and looked up as she listened to Oathkeeper. "Yeah.... It's both comforting, and sometimes a little scary, to realise how insignificant we are in the grand scheme of things...." She looked from constellation to constellation, whispering their names in her head and she smiled. The sky was completely black now, with the off flair of blue, and covered with millions of stars.
Auriga turned her head against the grass to look at the white stallion. "Do you come here often to look at the stars, Oathkeeper? Or did I just happen to be here right on cue?"

Oathkeeper turned his head away from the constellation filled sky and his eye's met Auriga's. Her silvery-starlit eyes seemed to glimmer more brilliantly than any of those above. It caused him to smile ever more sincerely. She was really really pretty, more beautiful to him not just for her looks, but for how awesome she already seemed. "Normally, I'll watch the stars come out just before I settle into bed aside the teepee of the two Kawani I reside with. But tonight called for something special and---seeing as I usually always follow my instincts, I decided to seek out the perfect place to stargaze a little longer than usual and thus, found you...and here" he replied.
Making sure to keep her well added in on the conversation Oathkeeper took his turn to question. "What about you? You here often?" he asked. He also couldn't help but overhear her muttering about the constellations. "Whats your favorite?" he added, nodding to the stars ahead, "Constellation, that is." He was quite a bit more wiser than his playful exterior hinted at. He knew quite a few constellations and figured in asking such a question, he'd get even more insight on her personality, just by finding out which particular cluster of stars she fancied most. Kind like knowing someone's astrological sign, only a little more in-depth.

Auriga smiled. "I have a teepee, somewhere.... No one lives there, though, so I very rarely stop by.... there's no real point..." She kept her smile, letting him know she wasn't sad about this. "And how lucky that we should meet...."
"I don't come here often, but I try and make a point of stargazing as much as possible.... And my favourite is Auriga, of course...!" She laughed warmly with a slightly cheeky grin.

Oathkeeper gave a laugh---he should have seen that one coming! "Mine---would have to be...Perseus, because he's a heroic good-doer who resqued many innocent people from peril without expecting any rewards for having done so" Oathkeeper added, nodding to himself. The more he chatted with the mare, the more curious he became in finding out more about her. "No one lives with you? So---you have no companion?" he asked. He felt really awkward questioning her personal status, it seriously wasnt his forte and he'd never questioned any mare such a thing before. Thus, he waited for her reply in equally as awkward silence, wondering if he should retract the statement and appologize for being nosy.

Auriga laughed with Oathkeeper. It truly was a perfect night, with the stars out in force...
"I have... well, no-one really! But I'm not angry or upset... I do enjoy company, but I just... I did get close to someone once, but he left...." She looked a little sad but then looked to Oathkeeper and smiled. "But, I don't mind... I get to run where I want, and meet all kinds of new and exciting people..." She nosed a small stone beside her, wondering if she really was as okay without a companion as she said she was.
"What of you? A handsome interesting stallion like you must have a beautiful mare awaiting his return?"

Oathkeeper twitched an ear. Poor girl, she'd been left too. At Auriga's return inquiry he smirked in a gentle sort of way. "Nope" he answered, shaking his head, "I'd like too---but alas, I don't." He wasn't hurt sounding, nor sad...just reflective sounding. "We're in the same boat I guess...I was left too. Of coarse, I wasn't in a committed relationship or anything. I just really really liked her and I thought she really really liked me, but when she went away---she...never came back for me like she said she would" he finished.
He looked back at the stars. "I believe in destiny---she just wasn't the one; it wasn't meant to be. When it's meant to be, it'll be destiny that helps it all fit together" he nodded sagely. "I've always wanted to be someone's devoted mate & have them be the same to me---even raise a good family together."

Auriga nodded knowingly. "I wasn't really committed either... Nearly, but no...."
Auriga followed his lead at looking at the stars. She closed her eyes and smiled. "I agree.... I believe what's for us will not go by us...." She looked at him as he mentioned family. "I'm not sure yet about family... I mean, foals would be so adorable, but.... Goodness, what a thing to be talking about..." She laughed slightly and nudged him with her nose. "You will make a wonderful mate, Oathkeeper..... I m-mean, not for me! But for, y-y'know, someone... some mare... u-uh..." Auriga stammered as her sentence came out the wrong way.
