There was nothing fancy about this. Two men go into the pit, and possibly only one man may come out. This was the kind of fight you'd only see in the underground; no holds bars, anything goes, and there can only be one winner. Kichiro Oda vs Cyrus

The 6'3" standing Chimagin readied himself in the pit, clothed in custom black fitting clothes. His right foot was pointed forward, and left back in a slant. Kichiro's left knee bent and right foot extended with his right side forward, presenting a balanced lower stance. His right hand crossed over his chest down to the hilt of his katana, gripping nearest to the handguard. Kichiro's left hand gripped just below it, upside down.
After a quick unsheathing of the blade, both hands would be upright in their grip of the blade, as it was presented forward at level of his torso with the tip of the curvature raised about level of his solar plexus.
Kichiro was most known for his use of dual weapons, but he would try his hand with this 3' blade by itself, just to test his own diversity.

Cyrus was wearing his usual, well almost, getup. His buttoned up Hawaiian shirt was there, so was his white t-shirt and khaki cargo shorts; but he was wearing boots and quite frankly the simple act of waring them seemed to visibly annoy him.
He sighed a lot, great long sighs that rattled from his lungs.
As Kichiro pulled his blade free so would Cyrus. His blade was only about a foot in length; but it was a heavy and durable blade with a single edge, a machete.
Adopting a stance with his right foot slightly more forward, his legs distanced at a little more then shoulder's width he held up his blade at upper chest level. His right hand gripping the hilt as the flat of the blade rested on the back of his left hand.
This should prove itself interesting. At least he hadn't wanted to try his luck with only a pocket knife.

Kichiro was matched in height with his opponent, and he could only guess that their weight might've been similar. Just from their similar builds, but as his eyes glared from beneath his straw hat, the kensei was obviously intent on keeping his focus throughout this match.
Kichiro would than shuffle into a six foot range of his opponent, taking advantage of the reach of his blade and keeping it at the same level to the last moment, and going for a quick slash from left to right, going down towards the inside of Cyrus' left knee and down his calf to the outside, where he'd throw a counterclockwise rotation in his shoulders and bring the katana blade in a tight circle back towards Cyrus' legs.
The idea was to keep the sharp blade away from that one foot blade held so high, unless Kichiro could mark his movement where he'd take the strain out of that heavy blade crashing into his own.

Cyrus shifted his weight to his left foot and his right would begin to shift back just so slightly. The machete in his right would sweep down and to his right to block the katana with the flat. While normally it wouldn't be advisable to block a two handed with a one hand grip the difference in blade length made his arm the stronger leverage.
He guarded himself but took no further motion, he wasn't in a stance to attack.

The sharp edge of the katana would scrape against the flat of the machete, as Cyrus reached lower to block the slice. Kichiro's hands rotated as his feet shifted slightly forward, making the blade continue off the machete in a tight semi-circle and back from right to left, towards the inside of Cyrus' right calf.
The curvature of the blade would allow its swift movement off the block into the following cut, and Kichiro would be rotating his hips clockwise to add to the speed of the follow up slice, ending with a subtle rotation in his shoulders that followed through his hands down into the blade.

Good thing Cyrus kept pressing his blade against the katana, even as it drew back to try to dart for the inside of his leg, doing his best to force it to his right side.
Doubly good that he had moved his right leg back, it slid further back and he slid the left forward.
Kichiro moved forward a bit but they were still out of striking range, the reach of the katana giving Kichiro an advantage
This couldn't go on forever or Cyrus would find himself dead.
So what he did was potentially risky; but better then nothing.
Bending his body forward he reached with his left arm, stretching and twisting his upper body to give him the reach he needed. He didn't need to reach Kichi's body but he made a grab for his right wrist.
If he was able to get it he would give a yank, rocking his weight from his front foot to his back.
If it didn't, well he didn't know what he would do.

Kichiro was still nearly six foot from Cyrus, with his hands being a good three feet distance and wrists even further so. As Kichiro had only shifted slightly forward to meet Cyrus slight shift back. That was quite the lunge with Kichiro's blade moving freely between them.
Kicihro's shoulders moved in counter rotation, and both his elbows snapped up at his left, while drawing back both hands high by his left temple. The end result would be the blade coming back in a tight semi-circle ark like he'd wanted, but so that the sharp edge was presented to the incoming left hand. While Kichiro did this, his left knee bent further and right foot extended, allowing him to draw back in a balanced defensive stance.
The katana went from left shoulder down to past his right leg in a standard cross body block, that continued in a slice at the extended hand. All of it a fluid motion that'd happen off the returning arch of the light blade, powered by both hands.

Six feet was the distance said to be between them, three feet was said to be the length of Kichiro's sword. These were facts, it would be no great lunge on Cyrus' part.
Kichiro did what was wise, attempt to pull back his katana and put it between himself and Cyrus. Was a shame Cyrus wasn't going to have any of that.
By simple virtue of his stretching he would reach beyond the length of the katana. Nor was the katana moving freely between them, ever since Cyrus had guarded himself he had kept his blade pressing and forcing Kichi's to his right.
The wrist would be grabbed and Cyrus would rock on his legs, jerking Kichiro forward.
By now Cyrus was practically standing at a perpendicular angle with his left flank towards Kichi. Even as he attempted to pull the man off balance Cyrus would keep his machete pressed against the katana.

Kichiro had snapped his elbows out left while the reach went into effect, and had started pulling both hands back up to the left of his head. He was standing perpendicular with his right side towards Cyrus, and had plenty of time to react to hands reaching passed three feet. Cyrus could not pass three feet before Kichiro retracted his hands even one foot.
Pushing on Kichiro's blade would not stop the tip from falling, which was all that was necessary for Kichiro to perform the cross body block, and that machete would go soaring over the tip to Cyrus' right.
Also with Kichiro having bent his left knee back and leaned back to add to the distance Cyrus would have to reach, he'd find himself having hand brought to blade before he crossed six feet to reach beside Kichiro's head.

His reach may have been about three feet standing straight and bent as he was greater then four but with Kichi pulling his arms back the grab was a failure and Cyrus found himself over extending himself.
Now as the machete had been held with the tip angled downwards as the whole time Kichi had aimed for his lower body. With the pull back one of two things could change.
Either Kichi kept his blade tip angled so he could strike for the lower body again then Cyrus would keep his own blade tip down and just move back his arm, bending the elbow, as needed to keep them locked.
If though Kichi angled for a mid body strike then Cyrus would twist his wrist, pressing against the katana's edge with his machete's edge as he rotated for the tip, when the motion was down the flat of the machete would be pressed against the katana, to be pointed in a more upward direction and would allow him to not just push to his right but upwards to a degree.
While this happened he swung his right leg forward linearly a head of his left. If Kichi did not continue his retreat then Cyrus will have closed the distance between them by half.
The hand that had caused this mess would pull itself in towards the middle of Cyrus' chest but stopping a good six inches away, his elbow out and almost parallel to the ground.

Kichiro would be still prepared for a lower body strike, and Cyrus would be over extending himself. The end result was a stretching man grabbing air while deadlocking a two handed sword with leverage on one, by pushing it out to his right. It was time for a bit of a surprise. As Kichiro didn't continue his retreat, nor did he continually exert pressure on that sword. Before Cyrus could completely correct the over extension while he advanced, Kichiro's right hand would drop from the hilt, and the pressure against Cyrus' deadlocked blade would suddenly drop. He'd be pushing air, causing his blade to go far to his right while he advanced as Kichiro's katana went wide left. Now Cyrus would be recorrecting where his hand was, Kichiro had his right hand close over the head of the sheath at his left hip, and it'd come snapping out of the sash right into the bridge of Cyrus' nose as he advanced. The idea was not to give him any reaction time, and this was it. Hard wood with a forceful snapping motion while advancing into it, after correcting an over extension, was not going to feel good. By closing the distance in half, the sheath would be at about the midpoint as it cracked on Cyrus' face, and in one hand, it had quite the shorter center of balance, exerting a lot of force with a lot of leverage. Kendo lesson. All the force on the katana is with the left hand, the right hand is merely a lever with the thumb. A katana is a one and a half hand weapon, able to be wielded with one, but more powerful with the extra lever. After that sheath snapping out happened, Kichiro's left hand would take advantage of any stun that might occur, that blade coming to nearly beside him from suddenly snapping out at his left, would head back in over the machete into the man's neck at the right side. That's where Kichiro would begin his continued retreat, drawing the sheath back into its sash, and then sliding the katana back along the man's neck to sever the artery, by drawing his hand to the right shoulder level before him. After resashing the sheath, his right hand would go back over the left, and he'd be back into that six foot range with a circling out to the right, keeping his hips squared with his opponent.
