Kaelyndra
Ceri was getting older now, and naturally was getting into more and more trouble. Not that he looked for it, but he tended to wander away from home a lot. He'd never leave, he loved his family, but even the strongest and most wonderful young pups got horribly agitated with their next of kin.
For the young pup, it happened an awful lot - and being spotted in his family was far too easy. It seemed that being yellow was not a great survival technique. Little did it matter to Ceri, he'd escaped with a "I'm going down to the river, don't come looking" and then promptly fled the scene.
Oh sure, he was going down to a river; it just wasn't that particular river. More like the one he didn't know existed yet, but was determined to find. Of course, no one in the family suspected what he was up to, because he'd never quite blatently lied, though it might as well be considered that.
Which is how he found himself in the predicament he was now in, staring up at the leering figure of a bear eating away the carcass of some poor moose. A hard lump had formed in his throat, and he was trying to back away slowly and quietly. Unfortunately for him, as a young and very inexperienced wolf, quiet didn't come with the package and the formentioned fear turned towards him with interest.
This was just a bad day.

It was a good thing her mother was stupid. Well, maybe not stupid, but crazy. And sure, Miraz loved her mother, but there were times where Malady was simply too crazy for even her daughter to handle. But still, that wasn't the point. The point was that she was so paranoid sometimes that it made it relatively easy for her children to sneak away.
Snickering, the mostly-black puppy sprang through the bushes, putting more and more distance between her and her family. Where she was going, she didn't know, but she was just going.
And since when did someone have to have a destination? she asked herself. She didn't need a destination!
Suddenly given new energy from her own thoughts, the pup put on a burst of speed. Tiny paws pattered against the ground as she ran on and on, occasionally swerving for the fun of it all. Boy did she love to run! Sitting around with mum all day wasn't all that fun, especially when her crazy friend Kishia was around. She always talked about drowning squirrels. Yuck!
Mira stuck out her tongue in disgust, and as she did she tasted a new scent on the wind. She stopped suddenly, panting from her run. The scent seemed slightly familiar but she still had a bit of trouble placing it.
"Hellooooo?" she called, whirling around quickly. "Come out, come out where ever you aaarree!" she giggled, wagging her tail gently. Maybe it was someone who would run with her!

Kaelyndra The bear paused, its head at a tilt to the side. Ceri's ears went flat to his head, eyes widened and pupils dialated. A small whimper escaped the back of his throat, and he tried to get his legs to jerk forwards, but they wouldn't budge. This seemed to aggravate the furry animal even more, and it lifted up its head to let out a loud roar.
That's when the startling call of the puppy broke the sky, and the mammal promptly shutup. Even Ceri had enough guts to turn and listen to it. It sounded just one of his sisters.
This was going from bad to worse. Could you imagine if mother found both of them dead? She'd twitch and die on the scene.
His legs were suddenly propelled into high gear, taking him weaving through the legs of the bear and towards Mira. He didn't bother to look back, he could hear a few crashes, and then he dove for a bush. The sounds faded around him quickly enough, and he caught the black blob of his sister, with its waggling tail.
"RUUUNN!!" he yelled, offering no explanation and winding about whatever obstacles he could see.

Completely unaware as to her brother's danger, Miraz continued to call out obnoxiously.
"Hellooooo! I know you're out there so you don't need to hide anymore. I won't hurt you, I prooomise! My momma's the crazy one." That was up for debate. There were moments where it seemed the black and brown and white female had inherited her mother's strange mind. Or crazy mind, really. She was never paranoid and she was hardly freaked out, ever, but it seemed at times that she didn't really... think. She just blabbered.
Which was probably how she found herself diving out of the way of an angry bear's path. She hadn't been that loud, had she? Sheesh, touchy creatures!
Her brother had shouted at her to run, but she hadn't quite figured out why. So she had simply stood there, tilting her head. "Ceri?" she had called, recognizing his voice despite everything. "You were hiding in the bushes? Geez, why didn't you come when I called? I was really clear, so it's not like--" But that was when the bear had come bursting through everything, charging around in a blind fury.
She had yelped in surprised--who wouldn't have?--and had jumped to the side quickly despite her shock from seeing the bear. But even then, she was still only a puppy and so her jumps weren't as great or long as was necessary to completely remove herself from the bear's path. So it had rushed by, knocking her slightly in the rump and sending her whirling around in the air.
She'd landed in a heap, giggling. Definitely crazy.
"Ceri! I like your friend," she laughed, rising to her paws as if nothing had happened. But then she remembered the bear, and she snapped into her senses. Instinctively she backed into a bush where she was partially hidden, waiting for the bear's next move.

Kaelyndra The bear was far less impressed with its own antics. As Ceri rushed out of its path, it needed a new thing to investigate, and its meal was far, far away.
So the great animal mulled, swinging its big paws about, sniffing the air and looking for its meal. By no means was it hunting Ceri, but if something charged out of the brush to try and talk to it, they might just become the thing it was looking for.
Ceri, meanwhile had slowed down enough to regain his concept of scent and hearing. His vision had never really been gone, only amplified with his need for speed. His head whipped around, looking for his sister. He wanted to shout for her, but he didn't dare with that monster so near.
So he did what he knew best. Crouching down nearly to his belly he slunk through the underbrush, nose high in the search for that familiar smell. His ears swivelled in all directions, catching the feint rumbles of the animal as it put down a paw.
"Mari?" he whispered as lightly as he could, creeping lower to the foliage. "Where are you?"
The noise caught the bears attention, but he made no move just yet, he simply watched.

Yellow eyes watched the great bear intently, muscles tensed from fear. She had appeared completely unphased by the bear only moments before, but it was now that she realized her situation. She needed to get away from the bear and she needed to take her brother with her. But where was he?
She wanted to call out his name, but she was afraid of what the bear would do. It seemed to be searching for something, and she feared that it might be her or her brother it was looking for. He still had to be in the area, he wouldn't abandon her would he? Yes, he still had to be about. She hadn't seen nor heard him running away, and if he had ran away wouldn't the bear have gone after him?
It was too much to think about. Too much for her brain to process at the moment. She was too worried about the bear and what would happen to her if she was found. She imagined her mother's look of horror and shock when she found her daughter's dead body, torn up by the claws of a bear. It was such a saddening image that Miraz immediately shut her eyes tight and whimpered to herself, pressing close to the ground.
But her eyes shot open again as she heard a faint whisper. It was almost as if she had imagined the sound. But no, she could see the tiniest bit of her brother's yellow fur through the leaves of the bushes.
"Ceri!" she whispered loudly, desperate to escape. "Ceri, I'm right here!"

Kaelyndra He caught the sound of her voice and relaxed, but only slightly. His face tensed as the bear shifted again, towards his sisters voice. That was it, he couldn't risk it anymore.
"Mariz," he tried again, his voice soft, hoping she'd follow his example and not speak so loudly. "It can hear us, but not well. I need to you to run when I come by okay?"
Damn his stupid sisters, why hadn't she just fled the scene already? Of course, what he didn't know was the bear was all the talking was exciting the bear. It began to lumber in a circle, till the wind shifted and it caught their scent.
It lumbered towards their bush and began sniffing low to the ground. The black and yellow pup could see its snout moving up and down as it searched. A lump hardened in his throat, and he resisted the urge to whimper.
"NOW!" he yipped and jumped on the bears nose, and ran the other direction from Mariz. (Or he hoped she ran the other way.)
