This is news to me, and seeing as I don't have a DS...I have no idea if it's worth it. But I'll ask around my friends and if they know anything I'll pass on the information.

The DS should already come with what is needed for online play. It runs on a Wi-fi internet connection. The trick is in finding a place that is compatible. Most people don't have Wi-fi connections in their homes, but there are places called hotspots(I think) which will allow you to access the connection from there. If I've totally screwed up my explanation I apologize. This is what my understanding of it's function is.

I know there is a wifi connection built into the DS. It's really nifty! you can play with kids in japan and stuff! My friend actualy has a pokemon with a japanese name (( like the name is actualy written in Kanji )) because the kid he traded with was japanese. All you need is a game with a wifi hookup in it (( like FF3 has it, tetris, pokemon, mario and almost every other game with a multiplayer option )) Plug the game in, click the wifi setting (( mind, you have to be in a hotspot to do it. These aren't that hard to find )) and chose a room. you are more than likely going to find at least one person with the same game in a wifi setting who is willing to challenge you.
Only problem is that no one buys the mics for the DS so you can't talk to anyone.... I can only hope it catches on. sweatdrop

mysticneko I thought the DS had a built in mic. Or does it suck that bad? sweatdrop How do you know you're connected to a wifi? I have wireless internet in my house, the only problem is, I have no idea if I can go through that. The built in mick is for things like Nintendogs or blowing into for balloon battles on mario cart. It dosn't actualy act as a mic when talking to another person, thus the head mics they also have an ear piece so you can hear who you are talking to as well (( but, once more sadly... no one really has one )) As for the wifi, when you go into the multi player mode on your DS and hit the wifi setting you can usualy tell if you are hooked up or not. I know that FF3 will tell you weather or not you have a wifi connection going for you or not. As well as most games, they will simply not put you into a room untill they find a connection. You could literaly walk around looking for a hotspot with some games, problem with that is that you would have to stop moving once you find one. If you want to know where some hotspots are, just ask anyone you find with a laptop, they can usualy tell you where local ones are. My school is a good example... I know of three hotspots at least because I use Wifi with my DS and I just look for people with laptops. As for home wireless... some works some dosn't, mine works.... anyone elses... :: shrug::

I dunno if all of the said places are hot spots nationally, but if you don't have wi-fi check em out. They usually have signs either next to the stores or in the window saying such. For the recrod I'm addicted to the psp. don't own a ds.

Yeah. They are correct. All Nintendo DSs have a WiFi capability. Luckily for me, I have WiFi in my house so I can play online as I please. But most people have to hit the Hotspots. Connecting to WiFi all depends on the game you have too...I know soem games arent compatible with WiFi. I Don't know a lot ot DS Games except for the ones I've played. I know that Animal Crossing, Metroid Hunters and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Are some fo the many games that are fun with WiFi.

I play it more than any other console right now. Although that might change once I finally get my much needed knee surgery. Then I can finally hit my Mario DDR again! I can't get enough of it. 3nodding blaugh Down in K O K O M O . . .

I was definitely addicted to my ds when I first got it but I haven't bought any new games recently. The game I'm most addicted to is Animal Crossing Wild World. It's SOOOO ADDICTIVE!
I only have two friends who have ACWW so once in awhile we play, one we just play in the same room the other one she moved to Texas so we play wireless. I have the Nintendo Wifi USB Connector in order to get the wifi because my router almost never works!
