The wind dove in-and-out through the trees, rustling the leave of many a tree as though they were flustered feathers of an avian creature. A small black form kept to the shadows, dodging the fading sun-spots as frequently as he could, never lingering more than long enough than to scent the wind. For something. And though nothing was there, no threat, the birds sang in their trees, fluttering home for a shelter for the night, bugs crawled on bark and skittered across the ground, chirping and making whatever noises bugs made, the male kept on. His black form easily kept with the shadows of the sunset, reds and purples streaking across the sky like a product of a spilled paint-box.

The young Quaxo was nothing near a healthy pup, ribs showed through a coat of dirty, black fur, though his golden orbs were bright and undaunted by his physical appearance. Just ahead of him, a buck flew from the brush, flying out in front of him and startling the pup deeply, whom started immediately in an opposite direction as fast as he could. But when his sore paws slowed the pup gazed upon the most beautiful sight he'd ever seen. A large, gnarled, tree rose from the ground, rising high above all others in the forest. It's presence was demanding, as though something possessed it and the tree was alive. His gold eyes never left the magnificent tree, though he was in clear view, entranced with it.

By the twisted trunk of the tree laid a lump of white and blue. Trent had spent many nights alone in these tree's. Its branches full of the voices of his fallen brothers and sisters. He could still hear them, still feel them, even though there was nothing left of them but this tree. A sad reminder, but also a happy one at the same time. He had ventured off from the tree in hopes to forget before, but he always ended back at the tree.

Thats when his attetion was diverted to a lump of black and white. A curious little thing. At first glance he thought it was a small stray cat but soon realised it was a pup. Thin and dirty with brillent eyes. Strange to be up and about with out a mother or father so young. Trent got up and continued to study this pup. Him and the pup were alike, both alone in the world. The pup didnt seem to be looking over at him, the pup seemed to be indulged in the brillance of the tree. With out meaning to the alpha seemed to wander over in the direction of the pup. He didnt realize until he was towering over the black and white pup. Curious, he thought to him self.

The pup never realized how close the much larger wolf was until he was right upon him. As with the wind the strong, clearly male odor past his sensitive nose, Quaxo jumped, his body stiffening as he took a skillful leap backwards. His tail puffed out in defense, ears going back, his heart pounding in his chest. Quaxo hoped the male wouldn't hear it though, then who knows what would happen.

"Who're you?" The small wolf demanded, trying to compose himself. The skinny whelp had no idea until now how far he was into another's terratory. Realizing that, he settled a bit, becoming less stiff and defensive. The last thing he wanted to do was pick a fight with the alpha, whom he guessed was this wolf.

"Its alright little one," Trent's voice was smooth and soft and soothing to the ear. The wind kicked up blowing his fur back along with his sash. A strong wind was upon them today, a blessing in a since, for the seeds to the forest would be spread all across the lands to grow. A good sign that this pup had brought with him.

Trent walked closer to the pup. He was quite impressed with his leap back wards but he did not say this, he only studied him.

"Are you hungry?" His voice was smooth still. How sad for this pup to be all alone in a packs, or rather, former packs territory. Trent wasn't in the mood to chase off trespassers though, no, he was lonely and welcomed the company. "Where are your parents?"

The pup's ears flicked forward a bit as the older wolf spoke, his gaze never leaving that of Trent's out of pride. That voice was calm and soft, just like Deuteronomy's was... His tail dropped a bit from it's position at that thought, though his eyes showed no change.

Quaxo stood his ground as the strange wolf came closer, the wind whipping around the strange bit of cloth around it's form. He'd never seen markings like that, color nor print, and he in turn studied the male. The next question startled him, the pup looking up at Trent in a slight look of disbelief. He was about to object, but his stomach gave yet another angry n**, reminding him harshly for the need of sustinence. "Y-Yes sir." Quaxo said, his gaze flitting to the ground in slight embarrassment. "They...." he began to stiffen up again, his eyes never leaving the dirt beneath his paws. "They aren't here." His voice was sharp and cold, definitely not a simple answer of his parents letting him be here.

Trent had to admit this wolf had pride. His eyes told him that he was a strong willed wolf. This made Trent smile, that was something he could respect in a wolf so young.

"Its alright young one," Trent sighed his words soft and smooth and calm. He could sort of relate to how the wolf was feeling. Trent didnt say another word, there was nothing more to be said. The wolf had lost his parents or family some way or another and Trent wasnt one to pry for information. If this wolf chose on his own to tell Trent more of the story he would do so but if he didnt then it was something personal to him and only him.

Trent turned his back to the pup and started over to the tree with out saying anything. He looked back at the pup and smiled, signaling for him to follow. Trent had a harvest of food he kept with in the sacred tree. The sacred tree had a strange thing about it. Food seemed to stay fresher with in its trunk and took longer to rot.

Hesitantly, the young skinny pup followed behind the alpha, eyes ticking around warily as they came closer to the tree, searching the area for something. Once he finally realized it, he stopped. "Where are the others?" Quaxo inquired stiffly, glancing back towards the older wolf.

With a sharp intake of breath the male looked up, the branches of the old, mystical tree seeming to tickle against the clouds, and go far beyond to play amongst the on-coming stars. It was, more beautiful than he could have ever imagined anything to do, each root and branch, each curve in the bark, was art, pure and simple. He longed to touch it, rub his fur against the welcoming surface, though he didn't dare.

Trent studied the pup's intrest with the sacred tree carefully. He seemed to be enchanted with the tree's ancient beauty. A smile crept up on the Alpha's maw in reaction to this. He always loved to have the tree admired. It made him feel like there was an ounce of hope in this world. If only an ounce, that would be enough.

"Huh?" Trent recovered his mind from his thoughts hearing the young wolves voice. "Ah, the others..." Trent didnt mind that the pup brought this up but the sting was still there. Stabbing at his inners violently with no mercy. "Well, they were all killed by a ruthless pack.." He was blunt and didnt beat around the bush. With his understanding of pups he had gathered that if you did beat around the bush they would adventually drag the answer kicking and screaming out of you any way. It was best to be as honest as you could with one so young.

At his response, Quaxo never turned his head from the tree, only giving a soft nod of response. He gave no sympathy, by his guess the alpha didn't need it. No-one really needed people to feel sorry for them.

The pup's head turned towards the horizon, the display of scarlet and violet now fading into a deeper, strong blue, the moon and stars beginning to shine in the absence of other light.

Trent entered the tree not looking back at the pack. All was silent for a short while until a yelp could be heard from the trunk along with a few other whining noises. A fox missing half it tail fur darted out the trunk with some fruit in its maw. Following the fox was Trent, he had red fox fur stuck to his maw and he was snarling at the small fox.

"Thieving fox! Next time it will be you life!" His voice wasnt smooth or calm, it was gruff and annoyed. One thing that pissed Trent off the most were Thieves. To be more on the dart, thieves who stole from the holy tree. That was never a good thing and Trent would make the intruder pay dearly, either by ruffing the poor thief up or by killing him or her. Some times he was merciful. You did not disrespect the tree, that was the big thing. And Thieving from the tree was just that.

"I am sorry young one," His voice was smooth again, "Come in and help your self to what ever you like, I am sorry you had to pay witness to such a cowardly thief. Come in come in," Trent smiled at Misto.

The pup jumped as the snarling and growling was heard inside the tree, taking a jump backwards to avoid whatever may come from inside the large oak, apparent home to the older male. As the fox skittered out he did well to keep out of it's way, foxes were just as moody as they were sly, and it wasn't smart to stand between something larger than you and it's exit.

Ears flicked back at the male's sharp, angry tone, giving a second thought to receiving food from this wolf, and taking a step back, Quaxo pondered how long it would take to get out of here. With his speed it shouldn't take a minute to get far enough away, but the other wolf would be faster.

His thoughts were broken as Trent's appealingly calm voice came back once more, replacing the stern tone that only a minute before he had uttered. With a grateful nod, the pup passed him and came warily into the den-like lower cavity. There was a presence to the tree, and he felt it as a shiver swept down his spine as he traveled across the thresh-hold into the womb-like den. The pile of food was a sight to behold to the starving whelp, and he had to contain himself for not lunging at the first opportunity. Picking a nice-sized piece, he moved off to the side of the den, sitting against the worn, beautiful wood of the old tree as he began to eat his food.

Trent smiled and nodded at the pup to take what ever his heart desired. Finding a lone pup was not uncommon, and even more common was to find a starved lone pup. Trent had never gone through that experience in his life time though he had seen his share. When the pack thrived, they made it a practice to shelter pups who had been adbandoned or lost until they had enough strength to move on. The option of staying was also presented to them, some would accept and others would refuse. Ah, the good days. Those where the days that the sacred tree thrived the most and would sprout flowers around its trunk, now the old Oak was weakened.

Trents ears flickered and he blinked. A flower? It was had sprouted right in front of his eyes by the pup. Could it be the Tree had excepted the young pup as its own? Trent shook him self blinking and looked again. There it was, right beneath the pup. Trent was shocked and amazed words ran dry from his mouth. He couldnt speak. It had been such a long time since the tree had done anything like that.

The young pup was too busy catching up in the one needed function that he lacked during his time alone, eating. And he was having a bloody good time doing it, too. Quaxo, as he tore away at the meat feverishly whilst thanking Hevvyside for this stroke of luck for the black wolf, never noticed the flower that had sprouted at his paws.

Until he felt the other's eyes on him, the male raising his head towards the strange alpha, stiffening a bit as he was apparently gawked at. He raised an eyebrow at the male's peculiar behavior, wondering what was the matter.

Trent realized he was being rude staring and quickly snapped back to his normal self, "Ah," He began pointing at the flower beneath the pup, "It seems our goddess is in your favor a lucky pup." He nodded for the pup to continue with his meal and went over in a corner to lay down until he was finished.

His eyes closed some. This pup was an intresting character, he knew that Trent was staring right off the bat. Very intresting.

Turning his golden gaze down-wards, the young male saw what he meant. A flower grew at his feet, it's colors reflecting those of the setting sky even in the darkened den. A goddess...? Quaxo looked towards the alpha, and then back to the flower before returning to eat his fill of the meat.

Once he was done, the young pup curled around the flower into a semi-circle, it's fragile form cradled in the crook of his stomach, near his heart. He turned from the flora form and towards Trent, his eyes questioning. "Who is this goddess of which you speak?" he inquired.
