The wind blew through the forest canopy calmly, and aside from the rustling it made all was silent and serene. A warm green glow was cast over the area by the gurgling river reflecting the treetops, but the wind kept it nice and cool. It was afternoon, slowly morphing into dusk as the sun began to make its way to the opposite side of the earth.
Vaati sauntered over towards the river's bank from the forest. Trailing behind him was a large leaf tied to his right back leg, which was harboring a fair-sized pile of black and raspberries, as well as some other fruits and nuts. His eyes and chartreuse-hued fur were glowing dimly, and ever increasingly as the sun sank lower. Since tonight was a harvest moon night, he figured he might as well celebrate with some of his favorite foods at one of his favorite spots.
With a content sigh he plopped down at the river's side, dipping a paw into the running water and closing his eyes with a small smile.

FrostBite was entranced by a fluttering moth. It started to fly towards the horizon and she followed it. From the corner of her eye she saw another Ulaya at the river bank. She stopped for a minute then looked back at the moth, who had gotten away. She shrugged and squinted at the other Ulaya. She grinned then came running over to him. She was about to tackle him but she stumbled to a stop in fear she might crash into the food. "You seem in a good mood." She said while recovering from her akward entrance.

Vaati's ears twitched and his head shot up in surprise as FrostBite stumbled to a halt before him. He blinked a couple of times at her, his slitted pupils foggy behind the chartreuse glow of his eyes. After a moment of staring at her, as if to confirm it was her, he smiled, still laying on his stomach but now sitting a bit more upright and having crossed his paws. "But of course, tonight there's going to be a harvest moon. I figured that I should enjoy it." He nodded towards his small bounty of food that was still tied to his back leg. "You're welcome to any of it- there's plenty."

FrostBite smiled. "Thanks, you must really enjoy harvest moons! I cant wait to see it." She poked the leaf once before laying down as well. "I guess your not much of a meat eater?" She stared at her reflection and at the sky's reflection. She was turning her head, about to look at the horizon but wacked her forehead before looking back to the water. Do I want to go blind!?

Vaati chuckled lightly, looking out to the horizon as it slowly crept closer to dusk, the liquid orange and purple hues and the pink clouds taking over the blue and white. "I think you'll enjoy it, especially since you've never seen one. It's quite a site." He tilted his head back towards her as she was looking at the food he had gathered. "I can't say that I am, I never really liked the stuff all that much. Every so often white meat can be tasty though."
At that, he stood up, stretching his limbs. Fireflies were beginning to come out of hiding, floating around the river. His glowing eyes and fur were beginning to illuminate more brightly with their eerie aura. "So what are you doing around here?"

"Same here." She grabbed a small berry and popped it into her mouth, she smiled. "I'm just hanging out where ever as usual. Rivers just happen to be one of my favorite spots. What about you?" She admired his glow, he fit in perfectly with the fireflies. "Does the glow from your eyes make it a little more difficult to see?" She tilted her head, it was another one of her random questions.

"Oh?" He glanced back at her with a smile. He was standing upright at the time, but fell back onto his haunches after a moment. "It's one of my favorite spots too- but I have quite a few favorites, so I guess one doesn't count for much. I'll show them to you sometime.."
As she was asking him her question, he was bending down, dapping his tongue into the cool water, making small ripples flee away from where he was penetrating the water's surface. As he raised his neck up, he smacked his lips of the excess water and looked back to the Ulaya fae once more. "Haha, no, not that I know of anyway. My vision is as good as any other Ulaya's. It's just something that they do- sorry if it bothers you..." His smile turned a bit uneasy at the thought that his differences from most Ulaya might trouble her.

"I'd like that." FrostBite smiled, she has never been to a variety of different settings so her favorite could just be bumped. She gazed at the water and wonder what the rest of the world was like, it was a very big place, well, not compared to the entire universe of course. Compared to the universe it was just a grain of sand. "I think its cool. Not all Ulaya should look the same. Well, of course if they were twins then there should be similarities."

Vaati was a bit taken aback by her thoughts on his oddities. He blinked at her a couple of times before replying. "You really think it's cool?" Right after the words of disbelief escaped his mouth he quickly looked down at the ground, which was covered with light squishy grass that grew in moist places, almost moss, but not quite. He paws at it a couple of times, thinking to himself and attempting to sort out his confusion, not just by her statement, but a number of things called for his attention at the moment.
Dusk was nearly there, and the moon was beginning to become visible in the sky. Only a few clouds were scattered about, pink and fluffy, and the wind played whimsically with his fur and bangs.

FrostBite laughed. "Of course I think its cool. My motto, well not exactly, is if your not ordinary then your extraodinary!" FrostBite adimired the the fading sunlight and the rising of the moon. "Harvest Moons are usually red, orange, or brown, right? And big?" She rolled on her back and pretended to catch the remaining clouds. She would try to play with the fireflies if they wernt so fast and busy.

Vaati looked over to her as she rolled into her back. He gazed just long enough so that she wouldn't notice, but long enough to appease himself. It was very cute- her trying to catch the fireflies with her paws, he even found himself blushing a little. At that, he quickly averted his eyes from her and replied. "Yes, they're much larger than the moon normally is. They're most commonly orange, I think. We should be able to see it soon." A small smile crossed over his maw as dusk set in and night was advancing on it quickly. His glow continued to grow the darker it became, and the wind became a little cooler. Bending his head down, he nipped up a couple of berries, a couple too many at that, for their juice squirted out onto his lips a little.

"Hmm... I cant decide what is better: a Harvest moon or a Eclipse... then again auroras are also beautiful but they arent good signs..." FrostBite rolled back onto her stomach again. She closed her eyes and shivered a bit. When she opened her eyes again she jumped back a little, startled. She chuckled to herself then laied down again, it was just a firefly.

"An eclipse?" He tilted his head to the side, looking over at her. "I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. Are they pretty?" Vaati was quite intrigued by what FrostBite was saying about eclipses. He also noticed her shiver and asked, "are you cold?". He blushed again, finding that his eyes kept roaming over to her and over her as well. Lucky for him that his fur was such a pure black color that the blush was very difficult to see.
He slid down to his stomach with the leaf of food in between them. Again he popped a couple of berries into his mouth and licked the juices from his lips as the fireflies fluttered around. When he looked back up to the sky, the moon was huge and bright, and a rusty orange color.

"I never seen one before either but I heard people travel the globe just to see them. They're very rare." FrostBite wondered if she would ever see one in her life time. She nodded, "a little." She felt her face grow warm though. She took a few nuts and berries and ate them slowly as she gazed at the sky. "Its really pretty." She looked at the reflection in the river and it seemed like the stars were buzzing because of the fireflies. FrostBite rubbed her nose with her paw hoping none of the juice from the berries got on her face.

Vaati chuckled lightly as he noticed her checking for berry juice. "You don't have anything on your face, it's perfect." It wasn't until after he had said it that he realized the awkwardness of his words. He felt as though he kept making little errors in his behavior, even though it really wasn't possible to make an error in the way he was. "Er- anyway though, eclipses sound interesting. I hope to see one some day." His eyes and chartreuse-colored fur was glowing quite brightly by this time as the moon also gained brightness. The night was nearly done taking over dusk and the stars twinkled in the sky.
For a moment, Vaati watched the fireflies drifting lazily around him, and went cross-eyed as one landed on his nose. He scrunched up his face and it flew off back into the scattered flock of them. "So... you seem to be by yourself a lot of the time. Or, when I see you, at least. You have friends, don't you?"
