Welcome to the Chimera Village, set far east beyond Aekea and north to border the sea. It's a peaceful place, full of laughter and joy usually. All clan members are welcome to take up a Chimera and roleplay them as they wish. Any character can be picked up or dropped at will, those left unplayed will be shuffled back into the list as NPCs until such a time as another person wishes to play them. Currently the time setting will be two weeks after the lab incident. Wavedancer is safely home, Zeta is starting to heal and Cloudchaser has begun his training as Shaman, helping Zeta to find forgiveness. Should this trial run prove successful, we shall execute a timeskip to coincide with the clan's visit to the Village, or their leaving the village. Information about the Chimera can currently be found in this thread, any further information required can be requested from Guyy (I actually have quite a lot of their details thought out already). To take a character, just PM Guyy or ask in this thread ((OOC)). When playing a character whose family members are not yet being played, each clan member has the right to RP those characters also until another clan member wishes to take over. Any character being played by a family member will be listed as NPC. These characters are still available for play. Character List Alpha : Guyy|NPC (Guyy) : Eta Beta : NPC (Numerica)|Numerica : Theta Gamma : NPC (Kaori)|Kaori : Iota Delta : Isarde|NPC (Isarde) : Kappa Epsilon : NPC (Elvengem)|Elvengem : Lambda Zeta : Guyy|Guyy : Cloudchaser Boldhunter : NPC (Elvengem)|Wavedancer : NPC (Guyy) NPC (Isarde) : Little Climber

The birds were singing noisily in the trees. Alpha stirred in his sleep slowly, the sunlight only just beginning to leak into the hut through the curtained doorways. He was warm and comfortable in his bed of fine furs, curled up with his mate. Though these days she was much harder to curl up with, given her heavily pregnant size. His deep brown eyes slowly opened and he lay for a moment in the quiet post-waking world of dawn.
Eventually he decided to move. He could get the days fire started and check on the rest of the village. There would be little to see at this early hour, perhaps one or another of the tribe would be gathering water from the stream or firewood from the stores. Carefully he moved from the bedding so as not to disturb his slumbering mate, giving her a small nuzzle as he passed and her swollen stomach a loving pat.
He slipped through the curtain and into the main area of the hut. In the center the remains of the night's fire smoldered. He moved a few small sticks from a nearby pile onto the embers and gave it a stir and a nudge. Soon the kindling caught the heat and became flame. He added a couple of larger logs. His mate and child would have warmth to make some stew when they woke. He took a strip of deer jerky from a clay pot and munched on it to tide him over until he could find a better meal.
He padded over to another curtain on surprisingly light paws, the only sound being the familiar brushing of the reed mats used as flooring. He pushed the curtain aside and gazed down softly at his slumbering daughter, curled tightly into a ball on her own pile of furs. He smiled and pulled the cloth back over the doorway, leaving her to her dreams. it had only been two weeks ago that she had been rescued from a terrible fate by his brother and his own family. Wavedancer had barely been able to talk about anything other than the Kaori-cat since then.
He made his way outside and stretched himself out in the pink light of early morning. He glanced around, taking in the village as he stood in the clearing around which the other huts were arranged. A few birds that had been feeding on a berry bush nearby were startled by his appearance and took to the taller trees, chirping and calling loudly. Alpha took a handful of the berries for himself, finding them to be a suitably sweet follow up to the jerky.

Theta came slowly awake and stretched, feeling the small changes that had begun to take place in her body. She smiled thinking of what the changes implied. Although she was not looking forward to some aspects of pregnancy or to giving birth, she was looking forward to meeting her new cub. She looked at her mate, wondering if he knew yet. He had probably guessed but she wanted to be sure that she wasn’t going to lose the cub before she told him. That worried her, and she decided visit the temple before her husband woke up to say a prayer. Pausing only to build up the fire and make sure Cloudchaser was still sleeping; she made her way to the temple. She spent a few minutes quietly telling Gaia of her concerns for the new cub and also thanking her for the gift of new life. After a few moments she felt her worry ease, and she began to think about what was going to be necessary for the new cub. For the first few months, the cub would need to sleep in her room, but fairly soon he or she would need her own sleeping niche.
As she left the temple, she began to consider how to go about altering her hut. Where would the best place to put the new niche? How much wood would be needed? Could she do it herself, or would she need to ask others for help in gathering the wood? She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn’t notice Alpha until almost back at her hut. Seeing him she stopped, and greeted him “Good Morning, Alpha.”

Alpha caught movement in the corned of his eyes and turned his head, one long ear swiveling lazily and pointing towards the source. It was Theta, up early and returning from the temple it appeared. She was preoccupied in her thoughts and did not notice him until she was already almost back to her home. He gave her a grin and a wave as she finally realised she was not alone and offered him a greeting.
"Good morning. An early morning visit to the Mother, Theta?" he asked with a good natured smile as he made his way across the clearing towards her. "Is Cloudchaser there already, or is he sleeping still?" He knew that she often accompanied him there when he went to start his meditation. She was probably still a little wary about leaving him alone in the woods, especially now that Zeta was well enough to often join him in solitude.
Speaking of the traitor, Alpha would have to check in on him shortly. He had take him as his responsibility, ensuring he was cared for and fed while he had been unable to do so very well for himself. No doubt he was still asleep. He slept longer now, spending most of his energy healing. It was better that way, kept him out of trouble.
Theta, however, looked quite well. The relaxed life suited her. There had been little work to do lately, although once Eta gave birth they would have to begin work on an additional room for the child. Perhaps that had been what was on Theta's mind? She frequently planned ahead. She probably had everything mapped out in her head already. "It will not be long now before work on the new cub's room begins!" he stated cheerfully.

“Clouldchaser is still asleep, but I wanted a chance to speak with the mother without him. I don’t want him to take on my worries as well as his own.” Theta returned Alpha’s smile, her tone making the comment light, almost joking, which hid a real concern on her part. Cloudchaser might very well become a shaman one day, but he was still a cub and it was her duty to protect him from all forms of danger, even the less tangible ones.
Theta was startled by Alpha’s next comment for a moment, wondering how he new, but she almost immediately recalled that Eta was soon to give birth. She almost laughed aloud at her self. She had been thinking of what was going to be necessary to alter her own home, but Alpha and Eta’s cub would require a new niche much sooner then her own.
She allowed some of her current good humor to color her tone as she replied to Alpha. “No, it won’t be long at all. I was just considering how much wood would be needed. I think that it may be time to start gathering it. Especially as…” She paused considering what she had been about to say. She felt much surer now then she had before her visit to the Mother, and she decided to finish her statement. “Especially as it looks as though we may need enough for two new rooms.”

Powerful, thick and heavy onyx claws worked diligently and carefully as they sorted through what was weed and what was valued plant. Uprooting the first so that that her vegetables could gather more nutrients from the soil. Those dark claws were slightly muddied, it had rained recently and the crops were thriving.
Lilac violet orbs gazed in concentration as the pitch creature worked, she was the darkest of the chimera, solid black through and through, even her mane was deeply raven colored, it could be said she was probably the most feminine looking of the lot of them, very sleek and refined compared to the others, she was proud of her looks and it helped her in her mental battle against Gamma's strange quirks for humans and stupidity.
Although her pitch fur was the reason why jewelery seemed to stand out better on her than the rest. Iota's long forelock seemed to defy gravity nearer her forehead, arcing high before it fell to the left side of her face, within it little purple flowers, not unlike those of lilacs, had been very neatly tied into place throughout it.
Her mane was parted from front to back at her ears by a braid that ran the length of where her horns attached to her head (like a french braid) only to split into two medium sized braids that fell on either side of her neck from just behind her large horns and long past her shoulders down her chest. Tied by wide lavender string wrapped about several times to widen the purple wrap and leaving a long tassel of mane still to flow free.
At the split of the braids base two long white feathers tiped in black were tied in to lay with either of her braids, the rest of her mane flowed behind her down her back and kept itself out of her way. Those were seagull feathers she had found upon the beach and the same small little purple flowers that decorated her forelock also decorated the whole of her free flowing mane down her back, wavedancer was so helpful and took after her mother that way. Iota liked to take the cub swimming in the sea whenever she wished if just to have help with her hair now and then.
Each of her strong upper arms were adorned with wide bands of lavender beaded jewelery the same color as her eyes and she even adorned the same, although much narrower sized band it seemed wider, upon her tail near her soft tuff. Around her neck she wore a polished stone amethyst on a simple black string but it had been decorated by the same delicate beads as well and the whole of it glittered in the rising sun.
In one ear she wore a silver ring, her ear had always had a hole in it, but had once adorned a hideous tag instead of a pretty shiny ring, that too she had found in her experiences with humans. Her wrists still bore the heavy silver bands from the lab she had been created from. Cuffs, but had since been deeply engraved by her own claws with intricate designs for beauty now rather than for the purpose they had been designed for.
Most of the jewelery she wore, like the beads and amethyst stone, she had collected from the human villiage, it having caught her eye and no one had seemed to notice her bundle of goodies she came home with until she had showed them to Eta who had fashioned her jewelry for the dark creature.
Iota worked with frustration this morning in her fields moving more quickly through her work, it seemed like there was getting less and less to do. The past two weeks she had spent most of her days in the fields only going to home to make sure Gamma was still healing and fed before leaving again. Still mad at him for plotting against Alpha with Zeta and without her knowledge, but he was her mate and she tended to him what he needed to help his wounds heal from the excursion. Always without a word uttered from her.
Coming to the last weed in her large garden, she easily plucked it from it's place and stared at it in deep thought. How could it betray her like that! Why couldn't there be more of them so she could finish working out her frustration? Gamma had every reason to be guilty and humiliated. Why did she too have to feel guilty then?
Adding the weed to her collection, she would let the multitude of small offending plants dry out in the hot sun to be used as kindling for fires, making sure that they were kept from blowing away in the wind by paperweight like rocks in a dug out.
Her onyx paw closed around the basket edge and hefted the large thing to her right shoulder to carry, stabilizing it with her right paw she made her way to the fresh water spring before setting it down. Washing her paws from the mud she also washed the fresh veggies and fruit she had carefully selected that were at perfect ripeness and placed them back in the basket. But before she left she dipped her muzzle low and lapped at the cool refreshing water a long while, having her fill. She had worked hard and now this was her reward. She gulped away at the water greedily as though there wouldn't be enough to satisfy her and suddenly she withdrew an inch, the precious liquid dripping from her maw as her tongue lapped her lips dry only to wipe at the rest by the back of her paw.
She had worked steadily through the night this time, having watched the darkest of the dawn rise and now the early morning sun was beginning to cross it's way in the sky, the others would all be rising around now. Once more she hefted the basket to her right shoulder as she always did, rising to her feet and began to quickly make her short journey into the village.
It wasn't long before she could see Alpha and Theta conversing but rather than interrupt she slowed her pace considerably, he'd see her hesitant approach no doubt and Iota would stand a ways off until he called her over giving her the ok.

"Two...?" he queried. But Eta was the only female current with child... wasn't she? Alpha's large brown eyes blinked, slightly surprised as he took in her appearance. True enough, the hard lines of muscle had softened slightly and his nose could pick up the faint, almost imperceptible scent of pregnancy. Neither would have been noticed unless he had been looking for them, especially the scent. Eta's own hormones had pretty much drowned out anything else he would have picked up on otherwise. It was very soon for Theta, that much he could tell. That must be her reasoning for an early visit to the temple.
"What a joyful announcement! To have two cubs created so close together, it must truly be a good sign for the future." he beamed, waving his long tail in delight. It truly was excellent news for the plagued tribe. "This calls for a celebration! I... ah... unless you feel it is too soon to make an announcement in which case the news shall be kept between my horns only." he gave her a playful wink and tapped his nose conspiratorially. Perhaps it was too early to celebrate, though he was very hopeful that there would be no cause for sadness this time.
Over Theta's shoulder he caught movement. Iota was returning from her fields with a basket loaded with good things to eat. To have harvested so much she must have gotten up before the dawn, or perhaps never gone to bed at all. He knew relations were strained between her and her mate currently and that was no surprise, given what he had allowed himself to fall into. Alpha may have punished him further, but he knew Gamma was easily swayed and had probably never truly realised how much damage Zeta had intended to do to the tribe.
It occurred to him that Iota was the only female who had never birthed a cub of her own. He didn't even know if she had tried, yet she was fond enough of the cubs so he supposed the maternal instinct was there. Perhaps she was simply having the hardest time conceiving. It had taken so long for any of them to produce a child after all. He would have suggested a visit to the temple and to Lambda, but he knew that she would have probably already explored such avenues. Time would tell... though given the disfavour her mate had earned, it might very well be a long time yet.
"Good morning, sister." he greeted, raising his head and giving her a friendly nod in greeting as she slowed her pace, obviously having seen them talking. "I see you are still working hard, as always."

Violet eyes were cast casually aside as Iota approached as if looking to see if any of the others had risen yet, "Morning brother." her gaze drifted back to him and she nodded slowly with his comment of working hard. "It is not work brother when it is enjoyable. I am good at it." A dull light of happiness lifted her mood a bit. Appreciating that he took notice of her hard efforts and at the same time knowing that it was due to being put off by her mate. "I brought this as gift for Eta, she will need strength." she ducked her head meekly placing the rather large basket down gently and looking at it almost forlornly. "It is not too much?" she questioned looking up at him as she took a step back from it.
It seemed like the silence was somewhat awkward, there was something going on between these two she had most certainly interrupted. A slight quiver in her nose detected a tiny hint of what it may be that they were speaking of, yet she said nothing. It was good news that hadn't been announced, at the same time with each celebration that went by... she felt worse... and worse. She was casually happy for the pair though, not letting it show through how much it was really beginning to bother her.
She had so far failed the tribe in terms of bearing young and felt the expectation growing heavier upon her almost by the day. "I will fetch clean water for the day." she murmured then softly making to move off and leave them be once again to their conversation and leaving her basket behind with Alpha. No doubt he'd make sure Eta received it.

Blue slits scanned her cupboards. She carefully looked over each jar, liquid, powder, root. Her right hand already held a small jar, full will the ingredients that she needed, aside for one. She moved jars and roots to the side it had to be in there. She had been looking now for nearly 10 mins. A low growl left her throat, She bet Epsilon had been looking about. He always had to know new things, in fact he just had to know everything.
Her eye caught a nick of glint behind the Echinacea and a smile again traced her lips. Reaching behind she grabbed the jar and opened it immediately. Cilliea.
She grunted annoyed. She held the glass upside down for her to inspect, empty. How had she been so careless to let the Cilliea milk get so low? She should have checked before today. She shook her head and replaced the cover back on the apparently dry jar. How could she have been so irresponsible. Letting out another aggravated grunt she placed empty jar in a pouch and made her way out of her hut. She was positive that Iota had Cilliea in her gardens. If not, perhaps Zeta would have to wait a day for his medications, she was sure he was running quite low.
She peeked in on Boldhunter, ever since the night she returned with the human treasures, she had been awful jumpy about the where abouts of her daughter. It was indeed true that she had a knack for keeping out of trouble but she couldn't help but worry for her dear child. She smiled as she left leaving Epsilon to care for her.

Theta smiled at Alpha’s query, waiting for him to figure it out on his own. She didn’t have long to wait, and she grinned, her joy doubled for being shared, at his delight. She knew his joy was as much for what it meant for their race as it was happiness for her personally, and rather than feeling resentful of that, she shared his joy that their race’s chance of survival might be increased. She was worried for a moment when Alpha suggested a celebration, feeling it might be tempting fate to celebrate so soon, but he seemed to sense her worry. “Errr… I haven’t told Beta yet… I’m sure he knows, but perhaps an announcement should be delayed a few days.”
She saw Iota out of the corner of her eye, and from the amount of food she was carrying, she had been up for a while. Theta worried at this sign that things were still not well between Iota and her mate. She wanted her sister to be happy, and Gamma’s actions had wounded her deeply. Theta took a moment to thank the Mother that her own mate had not been so foolish. She wondered what she could do to help Iota, how to let her know that Theta at least, did not hold her responsible for her husband’s mistake. Before she had a chance to decide what to say, Iota had already left. Theta wished she had her mate’s cleverness. Perhaps she would speak to him of this later.

For the first few padded steps she took from the pair her violet orbs were sealed almost in prayer that she wouldn't be called back, her ears were lazily attentive to the sounds about her although she didn't carry herself proudly, she had a sort of disgruntled look to her. Leaving Alpha and Theta to shrink into the background behind her, the soild pitch chimera was headed to the village food storage hut to collect the largish water canisters made for carrying the water from the clean spring to storage, for all to benefit from for the day.
As she neared the hut her right paw stretched out to draw aside the deer skin curtain that covered the entrance and ducked within the food store, it was easy to locate what she was looking for. A contraption of two barrel like tubs made of polished bone and stretched deer skin hung from opposite ends of a thick branch, the bones made the general shape of the bucket and were sealed together with rawhide to give the 'bucket' it's skeletal shape. This was not only lined with a skin but was covered on the outside as well to keep the rawhide from getting too wet and going soggy and therefore crumbling. Perhaps it would be wise to steal some oversized buckets from the humans one day, but for now these seemed okay. At least they were only for carrying the water.
The storage basin for the precious liquid had been carved deeply into a large boulder of stone that had never needed moving, they had simply built the storage around it and it was always cleaned out by days end for the following morning, this discouraged water grime that made the water distasteful if left too long.
Securing the branch and the double water skin contraption, Iota lifted it to her right shoulder and exited the food storage to make haste to the fresh spring. She liked keeping busy these days, as much as possible, to keep her mind occupied and even now she went at a quick trot disappearing into the thick foliage of the wood. This was the same direction of the chimera's temple, the path Theta had traveled just recently, her scent lingered freshly here.
It was not long before she could hear the fresh water brook babbling away merrily and Iota's lilac jewels caught sight of the Mother's Temple across the wooden bridge. Her footfalls stopped hesitantly before the bridge, why waste a trip? She wouldn't take long. Slow, hesitant step by step, she crossed the bridge and set her waterskin down outside the temple door. Once again her paw stretched out and drew aside the deer skin doorway and the pitch chimera let herself within it's welcoming confines although hesitated there and looking about as if waiting for welcoming or something, her nose scenting the air.

"Hn. She certainly will need her strength, and do not worry about the amount. These days she eats enough for a whole tribe!" Alpha laughed in a friendly fashion, though there was something almost mournful about Iota's cheery smile. It would have been impolite for him to inquire further while he had company, but he resolved to check in on her later and see how she was holding up. "Thank you Iota, you are a blessing to the tribe really." he smiled, watching her go towards the supplies hut.
Her entire frame told him all he needed to know about her mood. She was clearly troubled, and it was without surprise really. He gave a small grunt of displeasure at the thought of one of his siblings suffering quietly. It was his duty to try and help her in any way.
He turned back to Theta and nodded understandingly. Given the current record of their breeding, it was expected that she would want to keep such news to herself for a little while before the rest found out. Her mate had not yet been told even. Besides, the tribes was quietly buzzing with anticipation at the more obvious and more imminent arrival of his newest offspring. It could be that Theta wished to hold off on her own announcement until after the birth and while everyone was still excited.
"Such news will give us all a great event to look forward to." he grinned, unable to help his obvious delight. "I shall be sure to offer some extra prayers to the Mother on your behalf."
--
"Sister." was the closest to a greeting Iota received. A single blood red eye regarded her through the darkness and it easy to hear the rasp of pain in his voice. "Come to pay an early visit have you?" A low throaty laugh followed though was cut short.
Zeta sat in the shadows, though his scent was one of skins and smoke. He had clearly not been there too long, probably having slipped quietly out of his hut and making his way there only moments after Theta had left. He studied her almost emotionlessly out of his one good eye and even in the low light it was easy to see he was a mess of wounds and scars, though he had been cleaned up and treated as well as Lambda treated all of her patients.
"I wonder, do you have a particular request for the Mother this morning, or are you just here for a general visit?" he pressed, moving to stand, though on all fours, and slowly limp his way over in front of her. He came to lower his haunches beside the lovingly crafted statue of Gaia, his bright eye tirelessly staring at Iota.

From the shadows a voice lurked calling her sister, mocking her. She had hoped he wouldn't have been here but perhaps the Mother in her uncanny ways had meant for her to meet him. His scent had been masked to match his surroundings but it lingered under the smoke and skins if only just slightly.
Iota grunted with the confrontation as it was, it was totally not her style to fight... she'd rather tend her fields, it was not as if she wasn't trained to fight however. Just a preference. Her brother gave her the creeps. She nearly backed out of the whole ordeal already wanting to retreat, "Sorry... didn't know you were here already.." her gaze couldn't help but follow him as he hobbled forward more for curiosity than anything else.
His one good eye was trained upon her as he came to sit by the Mother's statue, he was in such a state, all hacked up his voice questioned her purpose here before falling silent for her response. She turned on her heel exposing her profile, her paw already resting against the door frame ready to draw aside the deer skin curtain.
"Fetching water for the food store, thought to peek in at the same time, see if Mother's statue still stands." she muttered, she hadn't been to see the Mother since Zeta had nearly taken up residency within the temple, preparing for his journey to the otherside to meet his mate. Iota thought it strange, all he was doing was biding his time, healing, maybe he planned to escape. But she never voiced her suspicisions, she didn't want to look more foul in the tribe's eyes.
"Mother looks fine... good day Zeta." she bid him in farewell although there was time still to call at her and perhaps keep her from leaving entirely, but she had not called him brother... Iota never used her brothers or sisters names in speech and this in itself signaled her burried frustration and anger. She was not the type to just lash out at another either unless she was provoked. Still that simple change in her speech was enough to make it very clear she thought him the source for her troubles.

"Do not leave on my account." he sniffed, taking in her disdain of him even if it was unspoken. "It has been a while since I scented you here. I am sure you wanted to do more than check on a statue. Although I am taken aback, sister. Had you supposed the Mother would somehow be damaged, hn? Our nephew takes exceptional care of her after all."
He referred to Cloudchaser, who often spent many hours simply tidying around the temple when he was too restless to meditate. Despite Zeta's usual apparent stillness and concentration in the temple he never missed anything that happened around him. The boy had once spent an entire day picking individual ants up between his claws and moving them outside without harming so much as one. Zeta supposed his patient determination was all part of his training.
"I would offer assistance with the water, but I fear I would just be getting in the way more than anything." he spoke with a dramatic sigh. "Speaking of assistance, how is your mate faring? I heard he took quite a beating from the Cold Lady, though he... remained intact."
A slow nod of his head exposed the raw and ragged wound where his horn had been as well as the scarred over mess that had been his eye. It had taken a while for him to regain full use of his good eye, though it still watered up on occasion as a result of the venom contamination. It was in much better condition than his leg, stabbed through by Kaori-cat's sword and left permanently weakened. The rest, he supposed, would heal with time.
He toyed with the vial around his neck as he watched her, a 'gift' from his distant brother and woven with a strand of leather to form a pendant of sorts. It remained around his neck constantly, almost as a reminder or a burden to bear. Not that he needed much reminding of the task he faced in the future, the glares of his siblings were enough for that. Only Alpha remained soft towards him, as always. Though the boy was as patient with him as he was with each ant, it was impossible to work out whether he hated him or not. He wondered if he was even capable of hatred.

Her paw had drawn the skin curtain aside and just as she was to step out ended up turning her violet gaze over her dark shoulder his comment inviting her to stay or rather almost demanding she stay. He must be lonely without Cloudchaser. Iota's orchid gaze shifted to the space between her and the door frame in front of her as she considered the notion of leaving anyway, but she ended up turning to face Zeta.
A soft snort left her as he chastised her, trying to dig her for more information on her true purpose for coming to the temple. "Can one not simply say hello to Mother for the sake of saying hello and not coming for reason or cause?" she answered his question with her own inquiry, muttering softly. "Even with knowledge of it's excellent care, one tends to want to see it every now and then."
Falling silent while Zeta non offered his assistance with the water, he also questioned her about her mate, his best friend. She grunted distastefully as she was reminded of her mate and if she hadn't been locking her gaze on Zeta's single crimson orb, her violet's would have rolled sky ward. "He eats, sleeps and heals." she huffed folding her huge arms over her torso and leaning against the door frame.
But his question was enough to have her growl lowly, "Why? Why did you do all that? And before giving blood madness as reason, know it is a pathetic excuse. Can you speak truth at all? Or do you not care to?" she asked about everything in one shot, from attacking Oroborus and his family to plotting against Alpha, Gamma had told her what he knew in bits and pieces when he woke enough while she treated his injuries with Lambda's help. He had even apologized... several times, but it had not helped her feel any better at all.
Gamma was lucky Alpha was forgiving, Iota was not quite as so and she was more confused about things than before having talked with Gamma.
