Most damage is based on a stat, and I know it's pretty fruitless to use the bow without the arrows. But I was wondering if anyone knew what determines the power of a claw. I'm sure it will never break a certain number at low levels. But I am trying to make a character who doesn't throw stars, just punches the bejesus out of monsters. Any advice would be well-loved. Thank you!

...PUNCH?!?! Well...Either Luck or strength. But...really high lvl people can only do like 15 or something with that.

it would be worthless to just punch, you take forever to even kill a snail at a high lvl

You would think, since hitting something with a claw is actually reasonable in reality, they would base it to a stat and give it the potential to do, at most, 500 damage given the right stat placement and such. Sounds more like a classed-noob who just wants to punch things....
...I may do that, actually. =d

An assassins claw damage is based off the stars he/she is throwing and luck since iv'e seen dexless assassins before, lastly, it also depends on your claws attack too.

See, the reason I'm not making a bandit is because it would seem like the obvious close-range answer. More often than not, when I'm bored, I make a "joke" character. They have no real purpose other than to provide A) a seemingly impossible challenge or B) or S and Gs. Usually the latter.

As tempting as a knife would be, I'm gonna go PUNCH SIN because I've yet to see anyone take on this challenge.

I heard about that... A Boxing Sin who punches... I never heard of it being successful

That would take forever, dude.

Most warriors use strength to moderate damage.

I'd rec. str for a boxing sin, but man, thats plain hard to do, when lv 30 warrior weps have like 40 or something, while the level 30 thief claw has 16 wep atk. (unscrolled)

I figured it out! domokun
So, instead of reading guides, I got my PUNCH SIN to lvl 12 and decided to put on a claw, have NO stars (I had Kumbis as a backup), and raise every stat minus INT to see what made my max damage grow. DEX still manage minimum, but STR manages max apparently. And LUK has nothing to do with the entire equation. Since the build will essentially be a Jobbed Permanoob (all skills placed will be passive), I can almost build up like a warrior with 0 range, slower attack speed, and hope that Jobless Swords, Polearms, and other weapons will speed up the process. Because right now, with a str of 22 and a DEX of 33, I have a whopping 6~13 range of damage.

This'll be fuuuunnn. sweatdrop
