when i first got my wii i tryed to get on the wii shop channel withput using internet connection and it didn't work(duh!) but yesterday i tryed and it did work. my mom thinks it's going to her cell phone and she will get a huge phone bill. can anyone help me or tell if something happened? wink

I would say that your mom's cell phone could've been used as a router to channel in the internet access, like you suggested. However, I'm not sure if she will get charged for using her phone as a router.
I think the best thing to do would be to contact Nintendo (e-mail would probably be the quickest way) and ask them about this, I mean, they probably know a lot more about the inner-workings of the Wii than I do.

Gooseless cell phone router? never heard that before I've never heard of such a thing either, but I suppose anything is possible, if you actually consider the cell phone as a router that recieves a signal and passes it onto the Wii. That's about all I can think of, though.

well your house might be near someone else who has a wirless router and you are using theirs or your house is near a wifi hotspot but i dont think your cell phone can do that at least not without you knowing

Of course, he'd have to be pretty close to the router, or it's a router with some good distance. However, that's most likely what is causing it.
