User ImageThe site for the school-wide favorite event: Quidditch! Each year the houses compete to win the house cup. The rules of Qudditch are simple and are as follows:

There are six players on each team. Two chasers, Two beaters, one seeker, and one keeper. They each have individual roles in the game.

The Chaser: They attempt to catch and throw the quaffle through one of three hoops of the opposing team. A successful goal results in ten points.

The Beater: The beater is responsible for using a wooden bat to divert the Bludger from hitting a player of their team and to (hopefully) aim for a player of the opposing team.

The Seeker: Must keep an eye on the golden snitch. A small golden ball with wings, the snitch moves quickly and is difficult to see. The seeker is to find the snitch and capture it before the opposing team's seeker. Catching the golden snitch earns the team 150 points and ends the game.

The Keeper: The keeper is to guard the three goal posts to prevent the opposing team from scoring a goal with the quaffle.

Practices can be arranged by the appropriate Head of House and matches can be scheduled to be played throughout the school year.

((In the future, we will devise a dice event to attempt to play a game of Quidditch))

Meet your new Quidditch coach. I want a fair game, all of you!

So you don't know how to play Quidditch, eh? Well I suppose that I will have to teach you. You've already familiarized yourself with the basic positions, now it's time for some real flying.

Let's start with the basics, shall we? There are key components to flying and playing Quidditch properly. They are:

Strength- Strength is important for a person to hit, throw, shove, and any other forceful movements.

Dexterity- Dexterity is needed to be able to move quickly to catch and make sudden
movements.

Reflex- Reflex is very important for anyone that wishes to dodge an opponent or bludger.

Agility- Agility is important for a person to be able to move quickly in order to block a quaffle from entering the goal hoops.

Stamina- Stamina is required for a person to be able to move speediously without becoming warn out or exhausted. This is important for Seekers who have to keep up with the snitch or other players.

Aim- Aim is aiming; to be able to score a goal or pass a quaffle from one player to another player, to score a goal, or hit a bludger in the right direction.

Each Skill is determined by a roll of a d20 plus a bonus, these bonuses are based on the players' year in school; the higher the year, the more the bonus is.

Each position depends on certain skills. Only the fastest and quickest are perfect for seekers or chasers. Those with strength are good for beaters, and so on. A comprehensive list of what each position uses the most:

Chaser- Throw (
Strength), Catch (Dexterity), Dodge (Reflex), Aim
Beater – Hit (
Strength), Dodge (Reflex)
Keeper- Dodge (
Reflex), Block (Agility), Catch (Dexterity), Aim
Seeker- Speed (
Stamina), Dodge (Reflex), Catch (Dexterity)

The +(#) in the any category can be added to any of the 7 skills. These bonus points must be added prior to the start of Quidditch season.

When a Team wins a match, each player on that team gets one (any) point to place in any skill that they want. Once they have placed the point, they must inform myself, Madam Hooch, so that the stat page may be updated.

At the beginning of the Season, once the teams are picked, each player determines their skills using the chart above, and places their (any) points. This information is then posted on the front page for all to see, so as to prevent anyone from cheating.

Random numbers are rolled to determine which teams play when (the 2 highest vs, then the 2 lowest vs, then winners vs, then losers vs, etc).
When a player makes a move that requires one of the skills (basic moving from one place to another doesn’t count, unless chasing the snitch or dodging), that player must roll a d20 when posting that move, they must also post in (+#) their personal bonus to that skill in the same post, so that all may see what they have rolled, and there is no doubt if the roll was successful or not.

”Example”
This is assuming that Harry is a 3rd year student:

Harry Potter
(The roll dice generator, set at 1 20-sided die is rolled, and a 11 is rolled.)

As I fly through the air, I catch sight of the snitch and speed up to catch up to it
(+3)

Assuming Jaden is a 4th year seeker and has placed her ‘any’ point into speed

Jaden
(The roll dice generator, set at 1 20-sided die is rolled, and a 15 is rolled.)

I see Harry take off to my right, I turn just in time to see a flash of gold ahead of him, I speed up to catch up to him.
(+5)

The first roll is Harry’s roll, which gives him a total of 14
The second roll is Jaden’s roll which gives her a total of 20

Spotting and Catching the Golden Snitch:
The character "The 1 Golden Snitch" will randomly post in the middle of a game. If the Snitch announces itself (a snitch icon will appear with the words "Catch me if you can") then each seeker must roll a 20-sided die to see if they spot the snitch, and add his or her spot bonus.

I hope this looks alright, i typed it up on word in a table, but i'm not sure if it will work out here))
