"Well? Where are they?"
"I don't know, Dru. Why don't you use your magical powers of teleportation and bring them here yourself."
Bristling at Caleb's tone, Drucilla lounged in her glass and adjusted the skull barrette in her hair.
"You're such a stooge," she said icily, glancing at the door.
Caleb sighed, sipping at his drink. It had been Dru's idea to call Evie and Jack, not his. He was just along for the ride.

"Sorry, mate." A low, drawling voice interrupted the moment before Dru could once more start complaining and the two looked up to see Jack and Evie approaching from the door. Jack grinned and Evie waved manically, almost toppling herself out of her cup in her eagerness. "Lil bit here had been busy playin' with Antony an' I missed the time. You haven't been waitin' long, have you?"
"Hi, Dru! How are you? Ooo, you got bigger, too!"

"Hey," Caleb said, nodding greetings at Jack. "Nah, we just got here. I wasn't too uptight 'bout it, no worries. Dru's the one that's been gettin' her nonexistent panties in a twist."
Drucilla gave Caleb a look that clearly said 'I can hurt you. Badly.' before turning her attention to Evie. A half-smile bloomed on her face.
"Hey," she said, still lounging in her cup like it was a throne. "I'm good. Stuck with him," she pointed to Caleb, "But otherwise, not bad. You grew up nice."
She paused to bite rather savagely into a peanut from a bowl Caleb offered, otherwise ignoring the two bigger people at the table.

"Thank you!" Evie motioned for Jack to set her down as he sat, using her big brown eyes to advantage. Jack merely chuckled, shook his head, and obeyed after sharing a long-suffering look with Caleb. "And you're still such a pretty color," Evie continued, looking over her friend more carefully now that they were closer. Suddenly, she stood and did a little pirouette. "I got this pretty peel and my legs go all the way up. At least that's what Daddy and Shade said about the girl on TV and she's got long legs like me, too."
Jack covered his face, laughing. "Oh, for the love of..." Removing his hand, he looked at Caleb. "Does Dru do this t' you?" he asked. "Remember every thing you say?"

Listening with a coolly interested expression, Drucilla finished her peanut and licked the salty remains off her fingers.
"It's cute," she said, stretching unconcernedly and baring her very uncovered body for everyone to see before slouching in her juice again. "Sounds like your men got pretty specific interests when it comes to ladies."
Caleb sighed and rolled his eyes. Oh, but he wished Drucilla was still just a bad-tempered child, and not this teenage manifestation of evil.
"If it makes my life miserable? Oooh yeah. She does it," he said, grinning anyway as Dru stuck her tongue out at him in a show of oft-hidden affection.

Jack laughed softly, shaking his head. "That's rough, mate," he said. "Evie doesn't do it t' be contrary. She's just all curiosity an' Brunswick just eggs her on."
Evie dragged her fingers along the edge of her glass, head tilted to one side. She clearly was considering Dru's words and ignoring what their "fathers" were discussing. Finally, she shrugged. "Daddy likes nice girls. Like Trinity. He likes her a lot."

(( Feel free to kick me, I am SO BAD at keeping track of my RPs. D: <3 ))
Caleb just sighed into his drink, shaking his head slightly.
"Want to trade? Dru could be helpful around the house at....um...scaring off solicitors."
"Hmm," Drucilla said, considering an almond before throwing it into Caleb's drink and getting another peanut. "Caleb looks like a girl. He gets hit on all the time, and he never knows how to avoid it. It's kinda sad, really. Most girls won't even look at him."
"DRU. SHUSH."
"Heh."

Jack's mouth twitched in the effort to bite back laughter and he quickly lifted his drink to it. Evie, on the other hand, spun in her cup to inspect Caleb with intense curiosity. Finally, she frowned. "But he's a boy," she said. "And he's a handsome boy." She smiled and the dimples appeared. "I like you, Mr. Caleb."
Jack almost choked on his drink and had to pound a fist against his sternum to catch his breath back.

Caleb turned a vivid shade of red and looked down, resisting the urge to cover his face with his hands.
"Nngh," he managed.
Drucilla burst into spiteful laughter, clapping her hands once or twice.
"Ah, Evie," she said, wiping a tear from her eye, "I need to keep you around."

"Huh?" Evie turned a confused look on Dru, blinking. "But it's true. He is handsome and I do like him. I mean, he takes good care of you, too, so that means he's a good guy. Daddy says that, if I'm gonna like boys, they should be good boys."
Jack smiled at Caleb apologetically. "She takes things a bit literal, like," he explained. "I was tryin' t' cut back on her hormones."

Caleb couldn't manage a sound above a small, weak "nnnnghk", though it wasn't for lack of trying.
Dru's malicious expression turned unreadable as she listened to Evie. Clearly the girl took better stock in Caleb's personality than she did herself. But then again, she didn't care that much about Caleb.
"Mm," she said finally, noncommittally. Her feelings, which she had been so sure were in the spectrum of dislike and contempt, had been temporarily thrown for a curve. "I s'pose he's okay. Good. Fine. He's good."
Grasping for something spiteful to say but unable to dredge up the right words, Dru shoved a pistachio into her mouth.

Oblivious to her friend's dilemma, Evie simply smiled and relaxed back in her cup. After a few wiggles and contortions, she managed to stretch herself across the top of her cup, long legs hooked over one side while her arms draped over the other. "Boys are interesting," she added. "I really like Kai and David. They're sweet!"
Jack choked on his drink but recovered when Evie suddenly lost interest in that topic and stared at the nut Dru had shoved into her mouth. "What's that?" she asked.

Trying to place faces to the names Evie threw out and failing spectacularly, Drucilla chewed pensively on her pistachio.
"Walnut," she said, nodding slightly and breaking off an unbitten bit for Evie to share.
Caleb, mortified beyond mortal reason by the female-inclined conversation and struck dumb by witnessing Drucilla willingly share something, took a very long swing of his cranberry juice and wished wholeheartedly it was something harder and more of the liquor persuasion.

Jack watched Caleb with clear sympathy and brought his own pint to his mouth for a sip. He arched his eyebrows and shrugged. Setting it down again, he murmured, "Don't ask, mate. You just kinda watch 'em an' try t' prevent the explosions."
Taking the bit of nut with a glowing smile, Evie said, "Thank you, Dru! You're so cool." Then she promptly began nibbling at it. A thoughtful look grew on her face. "It's kinda salty. Good, though."

Caleb managed a shudder.
"I dread the day she gets out of that glass," he said to Jack in an undertone, shaking his head slightly. "She's one of the harbringers of the Apocalypse, I swear."
Pleased with the compliment - obviously, Evie was wise to see the obvious so plainly - Drucilla ate the rest of her pistachio and picked her teeth idly.
"Caleb can't cook," she said dryly. "I live off prepackaged stuff."
