Most of the debate we have going on no are beginning to bore me. So after skimming the ED looking for ideas, I notice that everyone is like "Stop bashing the fat people" And then I relized many people are more discriminative against skinny people than fat people. After all more people are fat in America, than their are skinny people. And of course most people are just adverage. People call actresses who they have never met and are thin anirexic. How is that fair? Yet we keep lowering the standards for fat people. Some hospitals have actually had construction done to make their door ways bigger so that fat people can get into a room. What a waste of money, if you keep lowering the standards some people will stop dieting. Embarresment is a big reason why people start taking their weight seriously. While it isn't right to turn down a paticent for their size, I don't think it is fair to waste money on that, when it could be spent on new equipment. That wouldn't be a problem if people in America ate to live instead of live to eat. What are you opinions on this subject?

I'm going to bed now, my spelling gets worse when I start yawning, good night. I might add more later.

"People-- often tabloids-- say I have weight problem. They accuse me of being anorexic. And I mean, it's like, 'Am I not good the way I am?' And I think that, unless it's too an unhealthy extent, people should be fine with the way you are."

- Nicole Richie (done from memory. Not credible.)

People should leave each other alone about people's weight, unless it's unhealthy. Too skinny, unhealthy skinny, bad. Overweight, unhealthily, bad.

I'm being rather hypocritical. I poke fun at my friend about her appetite (she's skinny) alot. D: I apologize.

I think this has been mentioned but I used to think it was just words against fat people...but then I noticed all the tabloid attention on skinny people such as actresses as mentioned above.

Well I'm average...and I have lots of problems dealing with it. But my boyfriend is very very skinny he's about 5'6 and he weighs 110. And he gets alot of attention for being so skinny.

I really think that weight should be something that doesn't matter. People focus on it weight too much, and this obsession that we have with it is unhealty and corrupting. Now everyone thinks they have to be a certain way.

I know one voice can't exactly change much.

But I think focusing on weight is stupid. People need to focus their time productively.

I have lots of overweight family and it sucks to not be healty...but most overweight people...don't care to change from that.

Actually I think more people are more discriminative against fat people. Like sure, celebs are in tabloids that are skinny and they call them anorexic, but that's because that's what tabloids do. It's kinda hard to make up a lie against a fat celeb, I mean what are they gonna say, "They're so emotional, they overeat?" Whilst, a skinny celeb they can say that they're on drugs, they're anorexic/bulimic, they have AIDS.

But in the real world, fat people are still being dragraded and made fun of.
People see all these skinny people in the mags, and even though most of America is overweight, people constantly judge and make fun of fat people. Even some people who are considered "average," are too fat. People constantly feel that they're too fat so they gon on these fad diets and buy stuff from these infomercials just because they see that a person on tv has lot a large amount of weight using that product (or so they say they did.)

While I believe that it's important to not be obese, it's even more important to just love yourself how you are and then take on the steps to be healthy. I don't understand why people don't get that what the scale says isn't important. If you have a high fat percentage and you weigh 100lbs, you are NOT healthy. America just needs to throw out its scales and just live healthier without worries of weighing too much or too little.

Annorexia isn't a choice, it's an illness, so it shouldn't be used as an insult.

I'm not saying that people aren't discriminative to fat people to. But I've heard more things about skinny people. I think it has become more socially exceptable to be fat over the years, because so many people are. But if a person is skinny, even if it is no fault of theirs (most people who are skinny, are so because of their genes, not because they have an eating disorder, unlike the majority of fat people) they get treated differently and not in a better way. All the people who are overweight are jealous, and regular size people think you have to have an eating disorder to be your size. Adverage size people can say "Your to skinny, you anorexic slut, go eat something gain some weight" and thin people are supposed to take it. But how dare someone tell an overweight person "Your a cow, go lose some weight" If your do you likely to either be sufficated by their roles, or somehow be punished for it. I don't find that fair. People who are fat are fat because they are too stupid to put down the spoon and keep shoveling, I understand that genes can have something to do with this, but they can only take you so far, no one's genes make you weigh 400+ pounds. However the majority of people who look unhealthly skinny are so because of their genes/structure. For most skinny people, it is nearly impossible for them to gain weight, not only do they have a fast motabilism, which often makes them have to snack everyother hour but they also don't have much of anywhere to put it. I also relize that some skinny people are skinny because of an eating disorder, but I think genes have more to do with being skinny rather than fat. I find that genes are the scapgoat for slightly fat people (I think after you hit 400 pounds it becomes obvious that it is your fault, not genes)

It makes more sense to insult someone who eats loads than someone who has an eating disorder, you wouldn't call someone in a wheelchair a lazy b*****d. Eating disorders are illnesses, comfort and binge eating, laziness and allergies to exercise aren't.

Exactly, which is why I don't see what the big deal is about bashing fat people. They obviously need it more. Maybe it might motivate them to be less lazy. The baby treatment obviously hasn't worked.

I'm not nessicarily taking about people who have an eating disorder. I'm more so talking about the perfectly healthy people who everybody gossips about saying s/he does.

Eating disorders are illnesses but they are choices. People choose whether or not they want to eat. People have control over their bodies they can choose to not eat and be anorexic. A lot of the anorexic people did choose. They thought they were fat and chose not to eat. It's a choice that becomes and illness.

And some people are fat because they chose to be, and some people are fat because it's in there genes, as well as skinny people. Some people are skinny because of their genes. Just because a person is fat doesn't nessecarily mean they can help it. Some people are physically unable to lose weight. When people get stressed that can cause them to gain weight. Have you thought about those things?

I know that some people who respond are going to be biased because one will naturally defend what they are. If you are skinny you will defend skinny people and fat people will defend fat people. I'm average and I'll go both ways, because that's how it's supposed to be, right?

Stress can also cause you to lose weight. That is what it does to me. So yes I have thought of these things. And you would know that I deffinately thought of the body size/structure gene if you had read my previous responses.

No body is physically unable to lose weight. It may be hard, but it is not impossible (unless you have no weight to lose, in which case, why do you think you are fat?)

Eating disorders do not start with choices, they are psychological illnesses which stem back to childhood and cultural expectation and peer pressure. A few may start with choice (a choice which the person will not be aware they are making, nor will they understand the consequences), but the vast majority don't.

A lot of the people who have eating disorders that I know also suffer from extreme anxiety.

If you're overweight, it's easy to put on more weight, if you're underweight it's difficult to put it on. That much should be obvious.

I don't want to insult anyone, well, not those who do not deserve it, and personal appearance and/or weight is not a factor which we should, but inevitably do judge people by.

In my experience stress causes loss of weight much more than it causes an increase in weight.

The only way stress would make someone put on weight is through comfort eating.
