The large tank was immense to the lone female and she twisted in the water to wrap her sash tighter around her, seeking the comfort of its familiar warmth. Left alone in the tank with Himgûl she had fled to the safety of the portkey and the vastness of the main tank it linked to. But she was now fully in the shyness of that side of her personality. Scared and frightened. Every shadow made her want to jump until the nightmare side of her growled -scaring herself so that she did lurch in the water.

Madrigal gave a sharp sound, laughing at herself. How much safer she would feel if Gaebor was there, swinging his sword to protect her and keep the dark shadows at bay! But her tank brother was not here, and he was missed.

Sing something a soft voice in her head whispered. It was herself of course, trying to find some way to get her over her fear that she might heed. A soft smile curved her lips, and her eyes glazed over in a dreamy fashion as she took a proper breath, obeying the inner suggestion.

"Rose. Rose. Rose Red. Shall I ever see thee wed? I will marry at thy will, sire. At thy-y will.
Ding. Ding. Ding dong. Wedding bells on an April morn. Carve your name on a moss covered stone. On a moss covered stone.
Ding. Ding. Ding dong. Funeral bells on an September morn. Rose my love is dead and gone. She's dead and gone.

Oh poor bird! Take thy flight! Fro-om the-e so-orrow of this dark night.
Oh my love! Love's found me! So quickly come and sa-ave her who dies for thee."

Her voice floated smoothly through the waters, soft and expressive not loud and forced as it lilted on the mezzo-soprano range with practiced fluidity.

The meek beta was pushed into going into the main tank by his father. He told him that he spent far too much time in his coral cavern with his instruments and needed to go and socialize, Altan had argued that there were other betas that didn't leave the tank but to no avail.

He was slowly swimming around the tank cautiously looking around him trying to make sure he didn't acidentally run into one of those social type betas that would surely scare the hell out of him with their sudden movements and fast, loud, talking. Then as he continued to swim along he heard a musical splendor that caught his attention right away.

He swam in the direction of the singing trying to find who was eminating such a gorgous voice. He spied the female beta through some holes in the nearby plastic ship wreck and remained hidden within the plastic replica as he continued to watch and listen from afar.

She gave a sad sigh as she let the last haunting notes fade away. "Too sad, Madrigal." The female murmured softly to herself as she swam along. It may not be May... and you may not be Maying, but it certainly is more uplifting...

A silly smile crinkled the green dots beneath her eyes, starting a new, bouncy song.

"Now is the month of Maying, where merry lads are playing!
Falala la la. Falala Falala. La. Fa la la la!
Each with his bonny lass! Upon the greening grass!
Falala la la. Fa la la lala la Fa fa la la la!
The spring clad all in gladness doth laugh at winter's sadness!
Falala la la. Fa la..."

Her route led her past a sunken ship of sorts. Replica of course. But something stopped her, She felt watched and stopped mid-note, her golden eyes going wide. Pressing her fins to her sides Madrigal looked around. "H..h.. hello?"

The voice that had been sure & clear while singing trembled. Was someone there?

Altan froze for a moment realizing she could tell he was there. He didn't know what to do for a while, but he eventually ever so slowly poked his head out of the side of a hole in the ship where Madrigal was.

"Uhm, H-H-Hello..." Altan said in an equally shakey and timid voice. He didn't look directly at her, he rarely looked directly at any beta's he was always too nervous.

She had not exactly known he was there... not through any special means. Unless being often frightened by ones own shadow was a special skill. Madrigal started in alarm at actually having been right. "Oh! There is someone here!"

Green & blue scales trembled like a leaf as wide yellow eyes gazed at the other beta, too stunned & frighten to even run away. Then the widening of her eyes subtly altered, becoming a look more of wonder than fear. "You... you're like me? Except with a scarf? I... I've never met anyone like me before." She had never met anyone outside of her tank really, and her eyes darted between his halo, black head wings, sash and scarf. Curiosity melted into something else, her narrow eyes narrowing. "How long have you been there? Have you been watching me?" A note of anxiety lilted the end of her words sharply, eyes widening once more.

Altan shrank back a little bit thinking the other beta was mad at him for having watched her. He didn't to, for the lack of a better word, spy on her.

"U-uhm, y-y-yes, sorry...I-I was watching you sing...it was v-v-very bea-beautiful." He said timidly thinking she might start to yell at him, or that he might be in trouble and she'd go to get bigger more frightening betas. He always seemed to think that he was in some kind of trouble. He also didn't want to let others down, that's why he rarely came out of his little cove.

As unpredictable as this particular beta could be in her moods once started, yelling was certainly a possibility though it would never last very long.

However, she loved to sing. Something that overtook all moods. "Oh! You liked it? It's much better with multiple voices..." Madrigal tilted her head curiously at the male, yellow eyes looking straight at his. "Do you sing?"

oh how her shyness vanished in the light of music. For the moment.
