Last night, on June 14, 2007, during a segment on the popular news show, The Daily Show, My Chemical Romance was mentioned!
However, not a lot of us fans are ecstatic over the mentioning...
You can see the episode on comedycentral.com

Basically, while talking about Mayor Rudy Gulianni's (sp?) website which featured a section called "Rudy Gear," Jon said "Isn't that something we should see from My Chemical Romance?"
But that wasn't the bad part.
Next to Jon was a picture of an unshaven and greasy haired male wearing an MCR t-shirt and poorly done makeup. Y'know, the unflattering picture most people see in their heads when they think of a MCR fan.

I must say, a feeling crept into my gut that was quite unpleasent. However, I told myself that were it not for the picture, the joke was fine and in no way insulted My Chemical Romance. I mean, every band has 'gear.'
But the picture just seemed to insult me. I'm an MCR fan and I take real good care of myself. I try to keep a classy style with hint of the emo, prep, and goth scenes. In fact, this is what I see in most MCR fans.
The makeup is well done, we keep ourselves clean and there's really nothing wrong with us.
There's nothing wrong with MCR fans and frankly I'm tired of people immediately stereotyping us just because they don't like the MCR music.
I mean, sure, they can stereotype us, but they can try to be a little more correct about it!
MCR fans aren't trouble makers, drug addicts, violent, or judgmental. We're actually the good people and everyone seems to target us.

NOTE: This is not a bash on The Daily Show. I love Jon Stewart and besides, he doesn't write the stuff or pick out the pictures.

So, discuss. Are you sick of being grouped just because of your favorite band? And are you willing to fight against this incorrect image that represents you?

Hell yes! I mean, MCR fans aren't all like that. We come in all shapes, sizes, races, genders, and everything else you can think of. We shouldn't be labeled just because we like a certain band.

One time, i was reading an article and Gerard said something along the lines of " Why the ******** are we fighting over music? This ******** s**t is stupid, why does it matter what we listen to". Even Gerard agrees, i think its pretty shitty that people think they have to make fun of each others music, its not like we can do or change anything about what we listen too, or what we like. And we deffinitley do not look like that skeezball on that show. Out of all the MCR concerts ive gone to, i have never seen anyone as nasty has him. That was a pure insult to MCR fans, and MCR itself.

The makeup was edited on anyways.
You could totally tell whoever made the picture was trying to insult MCR fans.

That's how this has all gotten out of hand.
People have gone past just criticising the music, now they're throwing insults to the fans.

What's great is that my english teacher sed to bash MCR.
I talked to him about it after school once and he was very cooperative. He said I'm allowed to like MCR because I actually know what music is. He said he's sure that 10 years from now MCR is gonna be one of those ground breaking bands who changed the music scene.
Then he said he needed to pick a new band to bash.
I recommended Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton. Y'know, people who aren't actual artists. ninja

My sociology teacher did the same, but she wouldn't even listen if you tried to talk to her about it.

Where about on this website can you can find the video? I've looked but can't find anything D: That wasn't really that funny and not worth the dig at MCR or their fans.

I love Jon Stewart, but I only watch the 8pm reruns. I'll watch tonight. It sems unfair, but it's a joke. Nothing as bad as what I've seen.

I wrote this to Comedy Central:

I am a BIG fan of The Daily Show. On Thursday, June 14's show, while making fun of Rudy Giuliani's website, which had a section titled "Rudy Gear" Jon Stewart said "Isn't that something we should see from My Chemical Romance?". To the left, their was a picture of a fat man with an MCR shirt, and heavy make up.

While this may have only been considered "An innocent joke", many fans of both the Daily Show and MCR are shocked and outraged that such a great (and informative, especially for comedy) show we love and respect label MCR fans this way. How are My Chemical Romance fans supposed to feel when they, a whole group of people, are given ONE label to define them.

That's like Bill O'Reilly saying all liberals are extreme leftists. Jon Stewart has always fought against what pundits like Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity have stood for. Why sink to their level now?

The Daily Show is a popular show, and MCR is a popular band. If all the MCR fans stop watching The Daily Show, the ratings WILL be affected in some way.

Do what is right for everyone, because I'm sure all MCR fans would accept a sincere apology from Comedy Central, or Jon Stewart.

That, to me, is funny as hell. Especially since there's always several people who look like that at MCR concerts.

btw, I wrote a letter, too, telling them to keep up the great work.
