Apparently, if I post asking for help on finding a certain type of clothing, I'm "trolling".

Right, okay. So I've tried about ten different search terms in Google, clicked every single link in VF's shopping extravaganza thread and still can't find what I want.

Pat likes Loli, and I kinda' do, but I'm not fond of the big poofy skirts or the kiddie shoes, so I want to try my own spin on it, with the frills and lace, but not the huge skirts. I found a couple things already, but not enough.

So I find this group on MySpace that's Lolita, and I post there asking if anyone knows any sites where I can find Loli-like stuff that isn't too expensive (60 bucks for a skirt is insane IMHO).

You know, normally I would think that if I posted on a fashion forum full of people who have more knowledge about the subject than I do, they would give me some links.

NOPE! All they can think of saying is basically GTFO! USE GOOGLE! YOU'RE PROBABLY TROLLING. And I'm liek wtf?

Okay people, you buy Loli clothes all the time, because you're "loli" Right?

Is it really that hard to be helpful and maybe give me a couple links form your bookmarks? CTRL+C and CTRL+V aren't hard to press.

And anyone who posts the word "Google" when someone asks a question is just in it for the post count.

http://www.avantgauche.co.uk/sewing/index.html has a bunch of links to Japanese Loli fashion sites, the following of which according to Avant Gauche ship internationally AND are in English:
http://www.candyfruit.com/index_e.html
http://www.metamorphose.gr.jp/english/index.html

Have you considered finding some patterns or sewing some of this stuff?

Avant Gauche has some kickass links, and lots of them.

And after looking at these skirts I can tell you *exactly* why they're easily $60. It's cause these skirts have TONS of lace, tons of fabric, and tons of poof (by more tons of fabric) and all that cost PLUS value added by someone sewing it adds up to $60 easily. Cause these websites aren't sewing 5,000 all at once on a machine, they're sewing a few at a time at home mostly from the look of it.

Thanks Peeka. You is win.

I wanted to sew my own stuff, but didn't discover my sewing machine had a jammed gear until recently when I brought it into school.

I've been to that "Your mother wouldn't like it" site before, I like two of their skirts because they're not long, and not uber-puff.

This
is something I found that's got the lace that I like form the Loli style, but not the poof.

That sucks about your sewing machine. Would you be able to get it fixed or get a new one if that would be cheaper then fixing it?

Cause it shouldn't be too hard to make a skirt like the one you linked to. You could probably find that basic skirt in a $5 or less pattern and all you'd have to do to Loli it up would be use the right fabric and sew the trim of your choice on.

I've got tons of trim around my house that has been sitting around for years.

We had to throw out my sewing machine because the gear was jammed, it's a really old model, and it would cost way too much to fix it.

I don't think I have the money to get a new machine.

I wonder if my grandma's still works. razz

She's got a knitting machine too (MASSIVE thing), but I'm scared of it, mainly because it's huge and the sharp metal hooks require surgery to get out if they get stuck in your finger.
