Valendia. A land of peace, love and harmony...At least that’s how it used to be. Now however, the world has slipped into oblivion becoming a planet ravaged with war and hate. Everything fell into chaos. Among the chaos lays a single ray of hope, a way back to the light. An ancient scripture telling of the knights that would defeat the evil that had taken over the world and lay it to ruin. However, this scripture spoke also of the knights that would destroy the light and those that sought to bring it back. These scriptures are doubted as they were written by the priests of the Key which all fell to insanity and worshipped the dark lords of death and destruction.
Although the scriptures were written and partly destroyed millennia ago, what remains of them, the knowledge of those that bore the gift of sight, they may be the only hope that Valendia has. Many children had been sacrificed when they showed a possible talent; thinking they may have been one of these child knights, they were sent into the darkness where they were consumed.
The darkness grew larger, swallowing more of Valendia until the Forbidden Magic was used by one whom history has named an illusion. Hope had died and darkness consumed their hearts turning them from their loved ones, against each other and themselves. The scripture’s words were almost forgotten but for a few, they were still etched in their minds, the legend passed down from generation to generation, the smallest beacon of light still shone. One day, these child knights would appear and save Valendia from the darkness... At least that is what the Valendians believed.
The “Forbidden Magic”, a last resort for those trapped in the darkness, yet it is also the only way to relinquish the darkness’ grip. “Forbidden Magic” is called such because of its origins. First used in the ancient times as a passage, a rite for those whom were strong enough to withstand the power and the payment.
Only those whom had a firm grip on their soul and had a true purpose could survive the awesome cost. The magic seems to have been lost, along with the name of the illusion whom had vanquished the darkness for a brief moment in history a millennia ago. The magic resides with all the souls that could not withstand the power, all those that perish...
Many of Valendia refused to accept that their saviours would be knights before they would accept children. They refused to believe these scriptures and that they were powerless to stop their demise at the hands of the invading darkness.
As Valendia began to accept them as their saviours, the wait began. Surely they believed, that these child knights would come to rescue them soon. Time began to pass and pockets of light began to emerge through the regions. Rebellions in small towns allowing the light to enter, even if the victories were short lived.
At last, the knights arrived. With their combined powers they stopped the darkness from invading for several decades until the darkness transformed. Although little was known of the darkness that consumed the old worlds, it seemed to be a living entity, male, female or neither, it did not matter. It had a connection to the knights, each of the knights had both light and darkness within their hearts, but each resonated differently upon contact with the darkness.
The scriptures had been rewritten and only pieces of the original manuscript still remain hidden away in a forgotten chamber of Valendia’s darkest and unmanned regions...
The time after the child knights arrived, there was a momentary peace. The darkness began to fade and light took its place once more in the lands of Valendia. Valendia once more began to thrive, the towns bustled with excitement and noise, music could be heard playing through the streets of even the smallest villages. There were rumours of the scriptures having been found by the new priests of the Order. Some were excited to see what would happen now, while others were afraid that having found these scriptures - which had been hidden away for good reason all those millenia ago - would bring misfortune on Valendia once more.
Their fears proved to be true. The darkness came once more, engulfing everything this time. The three dark heralds had called for the demons and creatures of the underworlds to help with their dark ambitions. Always eager for bloodshed, the demons agreed and became the rulers of the largest cities and towns, and watched over the villages incase there were attempts of uprising and rebellion.
There were a few children selected that became vessels for some of the spirits of the underworld. Midori and Side were two children, brother and sister that spoke about rebellion, however they had been caught and turned into vessels of the deadliest spirits. Midori became venomous, her voice, which was the most beautiful in the town and possibly the world, would turn all who listened to stone and those who touched her would die instantly. Sidhe became the creator of demons and animals of the shadows.
While those two became spirit vessels, there are quiet talks between villagers and even in the towns of rebellion. A war will come again, all that remains, are the players.
Angel asked me to move this to the guild to see if it might get it moving again, so I'm reposting the original idea here.
