EVE has a pretty good set of tutorials, but there's a lot left missing after you're done with them. So, here are some common questions I've heard on the Rookie Help channel asked over and over again.
Please do post any others that should be included.
Is there hotkey for "fire all my guns?" No, sorry, there isn't.
How do you quit the game? Hit Esc, then choose Quit. You can also use Ctrl-Q. You can't use Alt-F4 (which exits you from most programs, but is a hotkey in EVE).
Can I open and take the contents of that cargo container/ship wreck over there? If you're in high security space (0.5 or above), players cannot shoot you without getting CONCORD mad at them. However, if you take stuff from a container or wreck that's not yours, that person will now have permission to shoot at you for the next 15 minutes. So, you can, but it can open you up to attack.
I have a mission that requires me to get a Villard wheel. Where do I get it? I can't find it in the market. What you need to do is use invention to create the Villard wheel. This is what you need to do (sorta -- I'm trying to do this from memory.) Right-click on the blueprint for Perpetual Motion II and choose Invention. Choose an installation, and you will be presented with a screen that says nothing available. Use the filters at the top to search your current solar system, and if that yields nothing, your current region, to find an available invention installation. Note the closest star system, and take your blueprint and the other two items there. Do the same thing once you're docked in the right station and you'll be able to start an invention job, which will make the Villard wheel.

To my understanding, ship tanks go as such; more low slots equals armor tank, more medium slots equals shield tank.
Also, when you're fitting a ship, check the bonuses! Right click>Show Info on the ship, it will be the last lines in the "description" tab.
Happy Flying! (And dying twisted )
