so i have this trouble alot. when there is an RP that has already started and is off to a pretty decent start, how do you get in? do you have to pm the guy who started it or do you just come up with a decent way to jump in and do so? it confuses me because then it might just throw the story out of whack i think. what do you guys think about this?

Well, I don't know. You have to PM him. Some GM's are very stringent about how many players they have. Take me, for example. I'm only allowing 10 players, and I've filled up all the guy slots. I can't have people just jumping in, you know?
But that's for my style of RPing. Look for open-ended RPs. Those are very compatible with "jump-ins" like yourself.

well I know that you can just jump into Deserted Island, because it seemed like it was meant to be for alot of people, but there aren't to many. And I'm sure the person who created Acadamey Of Witches would problably let you join, it hasn't even started yet. and if you look, I bet there's even more that plain just haven't started because they are just waiting for more people to join.

you could always watch the rp for a few min and eventually add your post to a place seeming fit at the time

I've had to delete posts in Feretris from people who thought that they could just "jump in." Less structured RPs are all well and good, but learn to recognize when you should ask first. I find that people who have just "jumped in" don't seem to have read the OOC set up. For one thing, Feretris clearly states that you need to submit a character profile.
On the other hand, as a GM, I try to help people out as much as I can with joining the RP. It's been going for 2 years, and that's kinda intimidating. I understand that. Sometimes players want a nudge for what kind of character to play. Talking to each player before they start really helps me weave every thing together and keep the RP at a certain level.

i've had the same problem with getting into an rp, it's annoying and frustrating to have to want to join an rp, but being left behind when you try to join.

I personally pm the person but when I make rps i put a rule saying to pm me. And as for rps, I like ones that haven't started or just started (AKA=under 10 rp posts)

The Writer Under a Tree I personally pm the person but when I make rps i put a rule saying to pm me. And as for rps, I like ones that haven't started or just started (AKA=under 10 rp posts) those are basically the rp's that are the easiest to join since they're new (i know an rp that got at least 20 pages in the 1st 24 hours, i was left behind, but slowly got back, though it was hard)
